Voldemort can never know love, not because he grew up in an orphanage the huge thing the movies missed out was that Voldemort’s mom, Merope Gaunt is the descendant of Salazar Slytherin( one of the co founders of Hogwarts). She fell in love with a muggle boy, Tom Riddle Sr but he never even talked to her infact he had a gf as well. But Merope wanted him and slipped him some Love Potion and bewitched him. They got married and she kept slipping him Love potion over the years. But when she got pregnant, she thought he might have started loving her and might not leave now that she was pregnant, so she stopped giving him love potion. But he left because the magic had lifted. She gave birth to vodemort at a muggle orphanage and asked him to be named Tom Marvolo(merope’s father) Riddle Jr and then she died. And so Voldemort was born because of a Love Potion/fake love, and therefore could never love or understand the power of love (which is also considered ancient magic, and through which lily could save harry potter) thats one of tge reasons ehy Voldemort underestimates the Magic and power of love so much.

Also, Tom Riddle asking Slughorn about the Horcruxes was "an academical" question....sort of. Most people say, that Voldemorts first Horcrux was the diary, wich he created by killing Myrtel.... However, as you can see, he got his mothers ring, when he asked Slughorn. Thats important, because he got the ring, when he killed the Riddle family and blaimed his uncle Morfin. He used Riddle sr. to make the ring Horcrux....and they only met once, so he tried it, before asking Slughorn. Meaning he was 15 for the ring and 16 for the diary
@YungBrady503
@YungBrady503 2 месяца назад
@@thomasnieswandt8805 Actually, Voldemort had used killing his father Tom Riddle Sr. to create the ring horcrux. He had modified Morfin's memory to making him confess to the murders and take the fall for killing the Riddles. Morfin died in Azkaban prison.
@ezradanger
@ezradanger 3 месяца назад
The importance of Slughorn's memory was to know how many horcruxes Voldemort had created. Dumbledore already knew that he had created horcruxes. He realized that when he came into possession of the diary, but whether he just made 1,2,3,10 etc was unknown. But now they know he intended to make a seven-part soul because of the affinity of the number 7 in magic. So that means he will have six horcruxes. Six horcruxes, plus himself equals a seven-part soul.

True...Very True
@VJP8464
@VJP8464 2 месяца назад
Just a slight edit: is he already knew it was more than one, because the diary was already destroyed before Voldemort even managed to make a body; therefore, he had to have another soul fragment to rely on to keep existing, since he could no longer use the one from the diary anymore That, and Dumbledore also had the ring already

Severus' mom's family name was Prince (Eileen Prince) and she was a pure-blood witch, but his father was a muggle (Tobias Snape), so that's why Snape gave himself the moniker of The Half-Blood Prince. Also, his father was a drunk, very abusive man that used to be cruel to both mother and son. Severus did not have a good childhood/growing-up.

@@connie2558 Lupin's scars were mostly self inflicted over the many years. Many of them are scars that he gave himself as he would turn in and out of werewolf mode over decades. There is one thing about Voldemort you can't get from the movies. 02:05:00 - He was born out of love potion. Therefore he can't feel any love. Because he was born out of fake feelings. His mother did this. On the other hand, Harry's mother protected him with pure love. Very nice and big contrast of the story.

I've always found this a strange piece of fanon. Tom is not a psychopath because his mother used a love potion. The point of the love potion is that Merope's delusional infatuation with Tom Sr. caused her child to become an orphan. Tom was born neurodivergent due to the Gaunt genetic profile, but it was the hostile environment of his childhood, first the orphanage, then being sorted into Slytherin as a half blood with a muggle name, that made him violently anti-social. It was Merope's irresponsible actions that made Tom into Voldemort, but it's not as simple as "Merope used a love potion so Tom can't feel love".
@LaurinGarcia
@LaurinGarcia 3 месяца назад
The reason Professor Snape called himself The Half Blood Prince is because his mother who was a witch had the maiden name of "Prince". He loved his mother and was proud of her. But his muggle father was very abusive. Snape hated his father so much that he liked referring to himself as the Half Blood Prince rather than the name of his father's last name of "Snape" during his years as a student in Hogwarts. The ironic thing about Harry is he always had a hard time learning potions from Professor Snape. But the moment Harry found Snape's old text book with all of Snape's hand written notes and didn't realized that it had belonged to Snape Harry suddenly began to excel in potions. 📖⚗️🧪🪄

👉 Now I can finally tell you why no one can stay working as a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher for more than a year. In The Half Blood Prince book one of many memories that Dumbledore shows Harry was the day Tom Riddle tried to apply for the teaching position of Defense Against the Dark Arts. The Room of Requirement changes to suits the wizard's needs. During Order of the Phoenix for Harry and his friends it changed into the perfect room for them to practice magic. In Goblet of Fire, Professor Dumbledore mentioned to Harry that Hogwarts was so magical that one day while desperately needing to find a bathroom he suddenly found a room full of chamber pots. But it wasn't until Order of the Phoenix that Harry realized that the room Dumbledore was talking about was the Room of Requirement. And in The Half Blood Prince the Room of Requirement would changed into the Room of Hidden Things for Draco, Harry and even Professor Trawleny (where she use to hide bottles of alcohol) in the Half Blood Prince novel. 🏰🤫

I would say if you read the sixth HP book you would have SO much of the theory from it. This is one book where they focused a lot on the romance but the most interesting part of the book was Voldemorts backstory- his family background and how he came to be, why he might be the way he is, how he was a master manipulator, very charming (NOT creepy like they show in the movies). He was loved by everyone as he was handsome, charming and brilliant. Only Dumbledore didn’t buy his act and saw through it. That’s why most people who taught him or worked with him before he became “Voldemort” didn’t really think he was doing anything creepy. He was amazing at getting people to like him. In the book we also get a view of what he thinks is important (like the place where he hid the locket - and also why the locket) and why he chose certain things to be horcruxes. Also - book Harry and Ginny have waaaaay more chemistry so their relationship makes Sense

The spider in Lord of the rings (published before JKR was born) was Shelob. Aragorn was a person. Mrs Lupin (Tonks) is Draco's cousin: her mother (Andromeda) is the 3rd Black sister (they all have different married names). She looks like and is nearly as powerful as her elder sister Bellatrix. All the Black family are named after stars/constellations except Narsissa. People named after flowers follow the Victorian flower code (for sending secret messages). Decode these and much of the story is a give-away. Well spotted that Ginny is similar to Harry's mother! Hermione has the same nature as Ron's mother.

There's so much more Voldemort back story in the book, was kind of disappointed they focused so much on the romances than voldy as it's going to be important going forward. You also get a more backstory on Snape as well. Half-blood prince was such a good book!

What is not told much in the movies is that Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Gryffindor hate Slytherin. In Quidditch matches, all 3 teams support each other against Slytherin. That's why Luna was wearing a lion costume. Voldemort doesn't want anyone to touch Harry. Voldemort's inability to kill Harry made him look weak. He wants to prove his power by capturing and killing Harry himself so that no one can question his power again. That's why he gave the Death Eaters the task of killing only Dumbledore. In the book, Dumbledore becomes very weak after drinking the potion and after returning to the castle, he uses his last power to freeze Harry and prevent him from interfering and revealing himself. That's why he loses his wand to Draco. In the books, Ginny always had a soft spot for Harry. In the movies it was only hinted at in the second and fifth movie until this movie but in the books she was always shy around Harry. Hermione realized this and suggested that if she wanted Harry to be attracted to her, she should be confident and be herself. That's why Ginny changed herself, that's why she dated Dean Thomas, gained confidence and waited for Harry. In each book we read about this slowly happening. And the moment Ginny became confident, Harry became interested in her. After a Quidditch match they kissed in the Gryffindor common room in front of everyone. The bodies under the lake are all Voldemort's victims. Enchanted corpses of muggles, wizards and witches. Like zombies. They're called Inferius. The souls of the people Voldemort killed are not bound to him. At the end of the 4th movie, when Harry and Voldemort are fighting, Harry's parents, Cedric and the old man appear for a different reason. Harry's and Voldemort's wands are twins. They can wound each other but they cannot kill each other. When Voldemort attack to Harry with killing spell, the wands refuse to obey and they connecting together. The stronger wand forces the other wand to vomit out its last spells. Since Voldemort's last spells are murders, the victims of those murders are revealed. This is called Priori Incantatem. End of the 4th book, Dumbledore explains this clearly. Not in the movie unfortunately. Snape is much worse in the books. He constantly torments Harry, enjoys it, gives him unfair punishments, condones Draco's bullying of Harry, blames Harry when Harry fights back, and tries to get Harry expelled from school at every opportunity. In the movies, he is portrayed as a charismatic "tough love". In the books, he constantly walks around with his "greasy hair" and torments Harry. Snape always wanted to be a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. He is literally in love with the Dark Arts. But Dumbledore found it suspicious that Snape wanted it so badly and he feared that Snape would be tempted by the Dark Arts, again. He never fully trusted Snape. So he insisted that Snape teach potions. Until the day he had to give the potions teacher position to Slughorn of course. The position of Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher was cursed by Voldemort. When Tom Riddle had not yet become Voldemort, he returned to Hogwarts after finishing school and asked for this teaching position. But Dumbledore did not trust Tom. He knew his evil side. He didn't want him to influence the students and lead them astray. So he didn't give him the job. And Tom cursed the position. That's why no Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher can teach for more than a year. Every year the teacher either dies or quits, so Dumbledore can't find a teacher to teach this class anymore. That's why the teachers of this class are always strange people, that's why he had to give teaching to incompetent people in books 1 and 2. He can't find a teacher. Voldemort went after James and Lilly because of the prophecy. In the movies, this is not fully explained. Voldemort had heard first part of the prophecy. He didn't hear the whole prophecy. He knew that a wizard of equal power would be born. He wanted to eliminate him before he grew up. He was after Harry from the very beginning, not his family. The prophecy was exactly this: "The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies..." Normally this would be a spoiler, It is explained in the 7th book, but since it will not be told in the movies clearly, I can tell this part. It was Sybill Trelawney who made the prophecy. The prophecy teacher. He made it to Dumbledore. Voldemort only knew the first three sentences of the prophecy. He didn't know the rest. It was Snape. Snape overheard part of their conversation and told Voldemort. Voldemort went after James and Lily without hearing the whole prophecy. And he was defeated by Lilly's protection spell. That's why in the 5th movie and in the book, he wanted the death eaters to get the prophecy in order to hear the whole prophecy. It is very important that he does not hear the whole prophecy. He didn't know the part "and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not". If he had, he would never have gone after Harry so recklessly. He was unaware of Lilly's protection spell. When Lilly died for Harry, she gave him eternal protection. Until, of course, Voldemort was resurrected with Harry's blood. The real irony here is that there are two children who fit the description of the prophecy. "Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies..." It could have been Harry. It could have been Neville. Voldemort thought James and Lilly were far more dangerous for him and believed that the prophecy was referring to Harry. He didn't think Neville could be his equal. Because Harry's family was much more dangerous to Voldemort. "and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal" He chose to follow Harry and created a self-fulfilling prophecy. He created an enemy for himself. Voldemort made the prophecy come true. He made Harry "chosen". I can't tell you now why Dumbledore trusted Snape, even partially, after all that happened. You will see in the last movie. Another thing that is not explained in the movie is that Lilly's protection is still partially in place. Voldemort can touch Harry now that he has Harry's blood, but where Harry can call "home", Voldemort still cannot touch him in there. Until Harry turns 17. The age of majority for wizards is 17. That's why Dumbledore sends Harry to the Dursleys every summer vacation. Even though Harry hates his relatives, it is Harry's home because Petunia is Lilly's sister. Until Harry comes of age, the protection spell is activated and Voldemort cannot touch Harry in that house. The Dursleys never hated Harry. At least Petunia didn't. When Lilly got a letter from Hogwarts, Petunia was very jealous of Lilly. She wrote to Dumbledore and tried to beg him to let her into the school. When she was refused, her jealousy turned to anger and fear. Petunia and Vernon hated magic. Or rather, they were afraid of magic. Petunia and Vernon thought that by suppressing Harry they could also suppress his magic. So they treated him badly. Petunia secretly loved Harry. In the last book Petunia talks to Harry about this in detail but it is not in the movie. Voldemort's mother, Merope, developed an obsessive love for Tom Riddle, a Muggle boy. Her family treated her disgustingly. Her psychology was not good because she was constantly oppressed at home. She was not good at magic. Her mother died long ago. After both her father and brother were imprisoned in Azkaban, she bewitched Tom with love spell and married Tom, getting pregnant. A year into their marriage, Tom Riddle was liberated from the effects of her magic and fled. Merope ended up alone in London and later died at Wool's Orphanage, after giving birth to her son whom she named Tom Marvolo Riddle. This why Voldemort hates muggle and muggle borns even if he is a half muggle. He has serious daddy issues. You are right, this movie was a bit messy. This is because almost half of the book is not in the movie. There's no Dumbledore's funeral. No minister of magic meeting with the muggle prime minister. No memories of Voldemort's family. No story of Dumbledore finding the ring. No confrontation between Harry and the Minister of Magic. No Dobby. No Hagrid. Nothing of Harry and Ginny's relationship. In the book they became lovers and spent a lot of time together. Also in the book, when Harry goes with Dumbledore, he gives the rest of the luck potion to his friends just in case. When the death eaters infiltrate the castle, they fight them. They are saved thanks to the potion... The same things goes for the fourth and fifth movie. All of these movies should have been at least three and a half hours. Or they should have made two movies for each of these books like they split the last book into two movies. Though the last book tells a lot about Dumbledore's past. It's quite tragic. But unfortunately 95% of it is not in the movies. By the way, if you spent 4 hours brainstorming for this movie, you should definitely read the books. You will read more details and untold stories than you can imagine. Especially after the 3rd book. The first three books are almost identical to the movies. For example, the first book is 280 pages. The fifth book is 1000 pages. But the movies are the same length. You can imagine how many details are missing. Brilliant reaction. Thank you :)

It’s been hard not to become so immersed in these movies when they’re absolutely amazing! We get the best of both worlds: we get to lose ourselves in the stories of the movies, but also find ourselves through how we relate to the characters and messages in the movies. That’s why we always get so invested and why it makes us feel so deeply. And it’s nice to see so many people relate and feel the same way! With the movies we’ve watched so far, we learn more and more that movies are not just purely for entertainment, but for so much more. The long discussions are not for everyone, but it really makes me feel happy to know that even just one person appreciates it :)

This is not a spoiler because this info is given to us in the Half-Blood Prince BOOK but it is not shown in this movie and will not be mentioned in any of the films moving forward, but I think it's important you should know, for some extra context: Tom Riddle was a product of rape, you're right about him not having ever experienced true love from anyone. He was already born rotten because he was born from a pregnancy that should have never had been in the first place. His mom (a witch), who was mentally ill and abused by her own family, became obsessed with this muggle man that lived close by to her. Eventually, she was able to poison the man with enough love potion that made him catatonic and "willing" to have relations with her. She basically sexually abused him, since he was coerced by the effects of the potion, it was a forced "relationship" in all aspects. That's how she became pregnant and that's why Tom Riddle was born evil already. He was the product of a love potion pregnancy, which, in the Wizarding World, is a violation against nature.

This movie is one of those that omits a LOT of information from the book. When I first watched it I felt a bit dissatisfied tbh. I don't get why they waste so much screen time on romance and even the whole pointless burning down The Burrow thing - not when there's so much background info that's much more important. They cut out like 80% of Voldemort's story here which is insane. It's our main antagonist. They also don't portray just how attached Harry was to the book, it's like his new best friend. Reading the book helped him save Ron among other things and so he trusts it, hence he carelessly used Sectumsempra just like that.

Another thing about Draco you can see throught the whole movie that he is completly alone almost in every scene espesially you can see this changes in the scene in the Great Hall right before Ron's first Quiditch game. And what's really hard to catch is the first time when he felt crushed was actually in the scene in Room of Requerements after he found the white bird dead (btw, it was canary, not dove) - you can hear him cries. Aanndd Ginny is absolutely gorgeous and badass in the books. It's so great that you've managed to catch it even thought it was so weakly presented. And their kiss in the book was more like Ron's first kiss was in the movie.
