This was filmed separately Peter was in Oregon and Tim was in the Caribbean. Peter is a master of layering voices this video was 120+ layers of his and Tim’s voices

I saw a short time ago that Peter had his wife add a couple of the high harmonic lines during his editing.

This is my favorite version of this song. The contrast in voices is beautiful. Peter in the higher tenor ranges & then paired with the true natural bass voice of Tim. And that last dragon's breath note is truly remarkable & how long he sustains it. Peter & Tim have collaborated on quite a few other songs & they are all beautiful. Peter is a master at layering voices. Check out "Sound Of Silence", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "Greensleeves", "Fire & Rain", "Teach Your Children", "Sunshine On My Shoulders", "You Can Close Your Eyes", "And So It Goes", "Blackbird", "You've Got A Friend".

Tim released the Dragon. LoL. Peter has done several songs with Tim and with Home Free. One of my favorites is " Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For " by Home Free featuring Peter. Thanks for the reaction. Hope you feel better soon.

Geoff Castellucci (Voiceplay) also has a version of this, on his solo multitrack YT channel. And later, he put on the same costumes again and did I See Fire.

Peter Hollens and Tim Foust did great job on this song. Tim have a low voice and he have a great voice. Peter have a great voice. I love Home Free, they are my favorite group. ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊

Love this! It’s from the movie the Hobbit with the dwarves singing it. If you stare at Tim at the end you’ll see the camera shake. Tim and Peter go way back and have so many collaborations they made an album together called Beautiful Duets. My favorites are Greensleeves, Bridge Over Troubled Water and So It Goes. Peter is a master of layering voices, it’s just Tim and Peter and there are about 120 tracks. Peter is in Oregon and Tim was in Cayman Islands in a place called Hells Canyon.

Tim and Peter have been singing together since long before Tim joined Home Free. They have made at least one album together that I highly recommend.

The song is loosely based on the writings of JRR Tolkien. There are several songs in The Hobbit, the one that they're singing here is in the book, now they did take some poetic license, chained some lyrics. If you read The Hobbit you will find this similar song. It's in chapter 1 An Unexpected Party.

This is a good one from Tim and Peter! Both of these men have extremely wide ranges and I am sure that the lowest was Tim and the extremely high was Peter, but that’s going by timber. Tim I am sure was also very high in parts of this and you heard in the beginning when Peter came in with Tim in unison in the lower range. Enjoyed hearing you nerd out on the song! Get well soon! Low bass Kenneth

YT doesn't pay for covers of copyrighted material, so lyrics are slighted changed in order for the artist to get paid.

Peter has a large body of work. He and Tim were in an a capella group over 20 years ago, and have collaborated on numerous songs in many genres. Peter also collaborates with The Hound and the Fox. Peter did a duet with Adam Chance, too. For something from them that is 'old' but many fewer voices check out their Greensleeves.

The cosplay comment leads me to suggest the HomeFree song “Brother”. “Brother”. Not “Brother in Arms” Both are good, but the 2nd is not typical HomeFree.

This is very good; if you like this, try out heilung, they will blow you away. And I love this, but heilung takes it to primal, kulning, primitive, spiritual way; ancient, but a surrealist bravado. Their name means the healing, or to heal. I would love to see your reaction to them, their song nurupo. Trust me, you've never heard anything like them. This song I mention here made me cry.

If you love LOTR, Peter has done an entire album of LOTR songs. He has a playlist of them on his channel. And you are correct, the poem was in the book. It actually was always meant to be a song. Just as most of the other poems were. There are recordings of Tolkien singing some of them

I have seen this before and was seriously impressed by their performance, it’s a song I like anyway. They make a really great duo, plus the layering is excellent and really contributes to the overall performance! Nice emotional reaction to it, I guessed when I saw what it was you would like it and be emotional about it.

The lyrics Peter uses here are taken directly from the Hobbit book by JRR Tolkien. The poem in the book is much longer so Peter just pulled a few verses for this arrangement. The Dwarven race is very ancient, noble, and nuanced. I highly recommend looking up and reading the poem as written in the book. It gives a better understanding of dwarven motivations.
