This reaction really stood out to me, and I've seen a LOT of them. Thanks for sharing such a personal take on this song. When we talk about a thing it loses some of it's power over us... be it depression, addiction , trauma or whatever. That is at the heart of Ren's music, and the community that has sprung up around it. And I feel like you get this more than most. This is such a beautiful reaction. Thank you for sharing your experience. I can totally relate to feeling almost like danger is your safe zone. Pain and anxiety and depression for those of us who have lived there for an extended period of time become the norm. Our brain trains itself to exist in a state of hypervigilance, always in fight or flight, fawn or freeze...we become so accustomed to it that "ok" feels terrifying. Our intellectual knowledge that things are okay is at war with the feeling that they're not, and in that war, it becomes a self actualization, starting the trauma cycle all over again to the point where things aren't okay anymore because we can't allow them to be..."scared of being ok cause all things change" is the best way to say it. If things are okay, my brain will run through every possible scenario of things that could go bad in this misguided belief that if I'm expecting the worse, it's less likely to happen. But then all of that time I could have just enjoyed things being okay is wasted worrying about how they could end up not being ok, and when something does go wrong, it only re-affirms that sense that it was inevitable...and the cycle repeats. I'm slowly learning to break that cycle and realize that I can't stop bad things from happening by trying to anticipate them. I need to live in those moments when things are okay and appreciate them for what they are. It's a process.

There's another deep one with these two that I see mentioned a lot already, but there are also 2 busking videos of them that are just for fun and awesome in their own right - Ren x Chinchilla One Dance / Drunk in Love and Ren x Chinchilla Sexual Healing. They are Chinchilla's first experience in street performance, believe it or not.

I love this song. It's how I feel a lot of the time. I don't have any destructive "habits" though. I just feel sad, lost, numb, and depressed. Even my Sertraline (Zoloft) doesn't help much anymore. This is how we all came to know about Chinchilla. Thanks to Ren for that one! She is uber talented!

I used to say that I thrived in chaos. Took a long time for me to realize that my past made me unable to be feel comfortable with stability. Feeling safe and secure was just setting myself up for a devastating fall.

The contrast between the pharmaceutical executives smoking cigars on their yachts and the torment of those who are hooked on those drugs couldnt be more unjust. It's easy to be caught up in a state of solace where peace of mind is priceless as time goes by, that's why its said that a routine is worse than a habit. I'll leave you with this, if everyone was asked to throw their problems in a pile and then reach in that pile and take a problem they'd prefer, you'd be surprised at how many people reach for yours.

Ocean, by Ren, featuring Eden Nash. Humble also is good by these pair. But Ocean is this blues/reggae/soul music that just sounds so good to the ear. There’s so many great tracks left to discover by Ren.
