First time Reaction to Tuomas Holopainen with A lifetime of Adventure. 

Tuomas grew up loving this comic book character. He found it a huge honor to be able to compose this beautiful project (one of many side projects of Tuomas) . Very small parts layered in wonderful ways to create a soundscape of wonder. Johanna's voice is like a wood nymph or fairy. It is so delicate and soft (Johanna is married with Tuomas). Don (Don Rosa) was a bit bemused when some long haired guy walks up at a signing (Ducks in general and the Disney Ducks in particular are VERY popular in Finland) and tells him he is going to write songs about his Scrooge comics. Later he got a message that Tuomas was done, and was heading to London to record, and Don got the preliminary tracks, and was worried, then played them, Said by the second song, he was in tears at the beauty of the thing. So,...: Don Rosa is an American comic book writer and illustrator known for his Disney comics stories about Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck, and other characters which Carl Barks created for Disney-licensed comic books, first published in America by Dell Comics. Many of his stories are built on characters and locations created by Barks; among these was his first Duck story, "The Son of the Sun" (1987), which was nominated for a Harvey Award in the "Best Story of the Year" category. The Johannas (The other girl singing is also a Johanna) have done other works together, and there is a live version of this from one of their concerts. Altamullan Road is the name of their project. The guitarist was the other Johanna's husband Mikko, and both are good friends with Tuomas and Johanna. They all do great music. NWSU/FloorFan 🤘😎🤘

Hello Michael ! This is a side project of Tuomas, the compositor Of Nightwish, and the soul of NW, that creates almost it all in Nightwish. He is a fan of Disney, so this is why he decided to compose this and the singer is his wife. I´m sure that it is not only me who thinks Tuomas is a genius, both in poet and composing. I´m glad you can see how wide is his repertoire. Thank you for your reacting.

Tuomas is still with Nightwish this is just a side project with his wife and there is another project Tuomas does with Fellow Nightwish member Troy and Tuomas wife the main lady singing this song Johanna and that project is called: Auri. Thank you.

Tuomas s'est inspiré de l'album dessiné par Don Rosa qui conte les aventures de Picsou avant qu'il ne devienne riche (dans le Yukon je crois, mais je me trompe peut-être). Pour nous Français, ça semble assez étrange d'écrire des chansons sur l'oncle Picsou, mais en Finlande ce sont des BD très populaires. Dans notre pays, c'est très différent, le marché est dominé par la BD franco-belge et le Manga (avec un peu de comics). Ceci fait partie des "à coté" hors Nightwish de Tuomas, comme "Auri", composé de Johanna Kurkela (sa femme), Tuomas et Troy Donockley.

Agree about Mike Oldfield sound but also the singers could have been on an Oldfield song. One of the singers is Tuomas's wife. BTW He has not moved on from Nightwish, he is the main composer of all there material.

I love to relax to this song. It is so beautiful and wholesome - brings back those childhood memories of the simple joy of reading comic books.

Hi Michael, Scrooge in France is Picsou. And of course, the character of Scrooge comes from the book A Christmas Carol. You know, the miserly guy visited by the ghosts of the past, the present and the future on a Christmas night. Tuomas has always been a Disney fan and this song is an homage to that.

Tuomas Holopainen is also active outside Nightwish; this being a solo project with his elvish wife Johanna Kurkela. Check also his band Auri, more folk style (with again Johanna, but also Troy Donockly from Nightwish). From the beginning of his career he also contributed to the deathmetal band Darkwoods my betrothed.
