Serious question. Which dog breed do you like better - American Akita or Japanese Akita? 🤔 For reference: 7:45 😄

There’s just something about film, it’s amazing. I haven’t shot in film for years but when I used to there’s just something about not mowing how the image is instantly

For sure, but I gotta say that I was still very inpatient, I drove to a different city to develop and scan the film, just because they offered a faster service, then the lab in my city. 😂

I bought my 645 J new, I could not afford the 1000S, I am just missing a few features that you have on the 1000S. I bought a different viewing screen, I have a diagonal split but with a really good micro prism ring around it, never had any focus issues. I also have the PD viewfinder, so eye level with a built in light meter. I bought the cds prism first but very quickly up graded to the PD. I also bought the speed winder. All this makes it a very heavy unit particularly with a large flash attached. Used it to shoot weddings for quite some time. A really useful camera, which always gave great results. Enjoyed your video, stick with it and get to know it better I am sure you will be pleased with what it can do.

loved the video man! i recently picked up a mamiya 645 myself and can't wait to test it out. making sure that the frame is in focus is my biggest concern, but i have the eye level view finder as well as the waist level, so i am going to see which works best. looking forward to seeing more of your film photos!

Thank you, Erik! Welcome to mamiya club! 🔥 Focus is though, one advice that I can give you is to don’t shoot lower than f4 (at least for the first rolls). Speaking with other mamiya users, all of them have said that it’s really hard to nail the focus with the lower apertures such as f2.8 and f1.9 and I realised that only shots where I missed the focus were shot at f2.8 😄but hey, let me know after testing both viewfinders which one you found easier to work with!

Wow the photos looked amazing loved the colors! I've been wanting to experiment with film photography too but right now it seems like an expensive endeavor however i did just order my first pair of vintage lens the helios 44-2 and canon fd 50 1.4 can't wait for it to arrive!

Thanks, buddy! Yeah, it’s kinda pricey, but you know how some people have daily cars and they also have a Sunday car, because usually those are the cars, that eats a lot of gas and is expensive to drive? I think Mamiya is my Sunday car 😂 That seems like a very interesting lens! Turns out that my late grandfather left me an old russian film camera with that lens and I’m really curious to try it out myself, but I haven’t been back to my country in the past year and for now it looks, that I will get my hands on it only next summer. 😄

@@DavidsKokainis Haha yeah i dont think i can afford it even on just Sundays! Thats interesting! Just a couple days back my dad found his old kodak 110 film pocket camera and gave it to me and i got super excited to use it only to realize its ridiculously difficult to find 110 film these days

Great start. Next step is to develop and scan yourself and you get the whole experience and have much more control through post processing (say in Lightroom). Also cuts the cost significantly. Incidentally over-exposed is better than under-exposed - at least you have enough information to manipulate in post. Images rendered in 120 film are much better than the same images in 35mm in my opinion.

Great video. A tip from someone who has been shooting medium format film for years now you should get used to stopping down the lens more than you think you have to. Sometimes even if you nail the focus the depth of field is so shallow it still looks out of focus.

not sure if someone has already mentioned it and i dont want to read through a bunch of comments; but if you use the second focusing ring, the one that looks like it has diamonds, it could help you find the focus on subjects without lines like you mentioned. if the subject looks like it has diamonds then it is out of focus. once you adjust the focus and the diamonds have disappeared, then youre on point! whats your IG?
