MALAYSIA FOOD TOUR!
Finally! We tried Bak Kut Teh (Pork Bone Tea) - a famous Chinese Malaysian food that is highly recommended by our viewers. Bak Kut Teh is originated in Klang, but we can't enter due to the coronavirus spread/CMCO in Malaysia. So we tried it at Kampung Cina (Chinatown) in Kuala Terengganu where there are huge Hokkien-Chinese community.
On this episode, we explore Kampung Cina and went to our favourite Chinese food court to try this famous dish. Check it out!

I am Muslim, but my honest opinion we have great Chinese cuisines here 1) Klang Bah Kut Teh ( the best in Malaysia, thus the world) 2) Penang Char Kueh Teow (Malaysians and tourists favorite dish) 3) Chilly Crab ( Singapore has nothing on us) 4) Chicken Rice ( The Chinese Restaurants) 5) Char Koi (used to eat this frequently for breakfast when I was a kid) 6) Chinese Fried Rice ( by Chineses Restaurants...it is delish) 7) Any Chinese Seafood Restaurants 8) Roti Kahwin ( Kaya butter toast) Anyone wants to add more?

Go to Klang for OG bakuteh. Oh and we never put chili or garlic into the dish (unless you are eating the dish alone) because it is usually a shared meal. So we would take our share and put whatever condiments on to it. Bakuteh is never spicy. Happy that you enjoyed it.

finally you guys tried it! but if you want the best bak kut teh, you should try it in klang, thats where it originated from. also all chinese malaysian dishes are considered southern chinese dish because the people immigrated here including my great grandparents are from southern china so the local chinese food here has southern chinese flavor. if you go to like north eastern part of china, the flavor will be completely different. and like szechuan or hunan you will get super crazy spicy food. chinese food by itself in china is already so so so diverse. hope you get to try all of them one day.

There is no "tea" being used in the Bak kut "teh" ingredients. The reason it named that way is because the way the soup is cooked is like brewing a tea using teapot. The spices and herbs packed like a tea bag will be dropped into a pot to cook together with pork bones for hours to produce the soup base for bak kut teh.

Steve, that part ( dried version) is the pig tail, not intestine. 😂😂 The soupy one has pork ribs and stomach. Just like you had beehoon sup perut in Kelantan. Ivana, you are right. Those are Chinese cakoi...usually eaten together with bak kut teh or porridge. Oh boy, those chopped garlics are not supposed to pour into that 2 pots... nevermind, no harm done. "Bak Kut" is pork ribs so bak kut teh is pork ribs simmered in Chinese herbs, good for health but " heaty", good to eat it during monsoon/ rainy season. Another food adventure...keep exploring guys !!! Have a glorious weekend, stay safe ✌️

Steve now can have a good meal with intestines with Ivana's dad now. PASS! By the way, the Bak Ku Teh, if you guys can still swing back to Malaysia when CMCO is done for Selangor, you got to try the Klang version of Bak Ku Teh, the unique part is the rice. So far not many versions of the rice for Bak Ku Teh is the same, but the "slightly oily rice" is one of the stars for Bak Ku Teh. I am not sure whether Kelantan's version has that or not. Another thing is that there are pre-mix versions of Soup Bak Ku Teh you can buy and ship home if you want to create it again for your family in Canada. And don't forget to add garlic cloves in part of the mix while you are cooking them. They are relatively simple. The dry version, every restaurant and every state has its unique flavour. Some tastes like Kung Pao. Glad you both enjoyed one of the most famous Chinese based dish in Malaysia :D

You don't pour the chilli and garlic into the soup/dish.🥴🤔 The garlic n chilli is a dipping sauce. You take the meat and dip into the garlic/chilli with black sauce. Then eat with rice. The sauce can be quite salty. We know Steve like food salty . If it gets too salty, you can ask for another bowl of rice to add in. Ivana is eating right, 😁 , Steve likes to eat the other way round. As long as you enjoy the food is what counts. 😋 To our muslim friends, there is chit kut teh, where you cook with chicken meat. No worries. The intestines, spare rib, stomach .(perut) , pork belly,

When people say ‘Hokkien’ in South East Asia, it exclusively means Min Nan/Ban Lam people. The term ‘Hokkien’ itself is in Minnan language. Therefore Hokkien identity excludes Fujian-Hakka, Hokchew(Fuzhou), Henghua(Putian) or Hokchia (Fuxing), although they are all in Fujian province. Therefore ‘Hokkien Lang’ does not mean people from ‘Hokkien province’, but from ‘Minnan/Southern Fujian’.
