Bihun soup utara is my favourite noodle👍so yummy you make me hungry tonight.want to make it one but not enough ingredients in my kitchen.some ingredients out of stocks.
Most western vloggers came to malaysia, they tend to look for good foods in big town like KL and penang only. Most of them looking for chinese foods. but you guys are different. The local malay foods basically much2 better. Same goes to kelatanese and terengganu foods. Food heaven is a malay food.. love you guys. Cheers from thailand!
Exactly.. it's the fault of the Malaysian-chinese tourist agents too, bringing their tourists/customers only to Chinese owned business/restaurant, boycotting Malays' who's the pioneers here in this land (since if we said we are the native here they gonna say we came from Indonesia n orang asli is the native, well whatever it is we came here first, they were imported way later by British to work with the mines)
@@zephirothia Stop trying to divide Malaysia, we're all Malaysians, whether you're Chinese-Malaysian, Indian-Malaysian or Malay, this is what makes Malaysia, MALAYSIA
Kedah specialty cuisines: GULAI BATANG PISANG (Banana stem pith curry with meats, normally meat like beef or chicken added), NASI ULAM KEDAH (Kedah herbal rice - rice mixed with 10-20 types of herbs), ASAM REBUS KELADI (Taro stems cooked in sour spice soup), LAKSA IKAN SEKOQ (Laksa with a whole fish served on the noodle - near my kampung, Kg Berjaya, at Jalan Gangsa), PULUT SAMBAL (Glutinous rice with coconut-turmeric sambal), KUIH KARAS (a kind of snack, fried sweett crispy noodle), KUIH DANGAI (kuih, dessert, coconut and glutinous rice flour), LAKSA KEDAH (Kedah Laksa), NASI DAGING AIR ASAM (Meat rice with tamarind sauce), GULAI SIAM (Siamese curry), SUP GAMAT (Sea cucumber soup), BIHUN SUP SAMBAL MERAH (Rice noodle soup with red sambal), IKAN PEKASAM (Fermented fish), KUIH BUNGA PUDAK ( kuih, sweet dessert), UBI TELAMPONG (Tapioca/Yuca/Cassava cooked for hours in sugar cane juice - it is a sweet dessert), GEDUNG CHAK (kuih, dessert), PEK NGA (TemPEK di belaNGA - PEKNGA - tempek di belanga means pasted to the pan - like roti canai but not roti canai), APOM LENGGANG (kuih, dessert), KUIH QASIDAH (kuih, dessert), LENGAT PISANG (Banana cake - kuih, dessert), KUIH LOYANG (kuih, dessert), KUIH CUCUR JAWA (Kuih, Dessert), CUCOQ PENERAM (Kuih, Dessert), Try SOME of ALL (Haha!) of these my home state Kedah's signature cuisines
oh my this is so good. Kedah is heaven for Malaysian food cos theyre cheap and food is everywhere without having to queue. Enjoyed the Kedah series thoroughly so far
Steve, while you enjoyed your food as usually, I can't help noticing Ken, who look like a puppy denied a walk. He seems to express your enjoyment without a word!
Lol, roof with no walls, perfect description and food. Yup, you remember the sup beehun perut...at our kampong! 😆👍👍 Steve eats like a local... Ivana..."I'm sure they put msg".... 😆
Nasi daging and bihun sup utara are the must in Kedah. Good job Tourism Kedah for introducing all the local specialties and places. Btw, I think the green jelly in the ABC are sago (made of tapioca, like in the bubble tea) and the 'ginger' Ivana said are dried nutmeg. Peanut, dried nutmeg, sago, jagung, red bean, grassjelly, lychee are common 'topping' (but found in the bottom 😅)/extra ingredients in ABC
Nasi daging, miss that one, big time, there's another one, nasi ulam, only in kedah, you guys making me hungry, its so fun to see steve eating, really enjoying the food, tq steve and ivanafor sharing, cant wait for tomorrow.
That nasi ulam would be very rare. Used to eat made by my late grandma and , pair with asam pedas batang keladi. And by asam pedas means the northern style, lightly one.
Dang! I’m salivating all over the floor. Been ages since I last had nasi daging and ABC with fruit condiments. Makes me want to go to Kedah immediately. Thanks for the tease. Hahaha...
I think all of the menus are my favorite 😋 yummilicious 👍🏻 whoaa.....now I’m craving for kopitiam bihun soup daging from Butterworth, Penang the best in Butterworth 😋😋😋 they use fresh meat and all parts of the meat. Hahha...Steve is enjoying his soup , nasi daging and air asam is also Kedah specialty. Air asam is like sambal belacan with lots of tomatoes and onions , kerisek and chilly sauce 👍🏻 You ask me , I love both 😂
after this tour with tourism board i think u guys should spend more time in kedah and find their local favourite food, there are lot more in kedah. ofcos tourism board just bring u all to the place that they want to promote which sometime not really a local favourite :). just say
Alhmdulillah thanks to jetlag warriors and his team are already exploring and trying out the food stalls especially northern malaysia..im so proud with my parents when outsiders tourist try that malay food together and so nice...gudluck 4 your channel and my parents..amin
You guys know how to enjoy Kedah food and well explained to your audience. Thanks to the social media now people can suggest best place/food to eat instantly by pin pointing the place accurately. (Kedahan guy)
You done it right with the beehon, i'm craving for that unforunately i'm on diet...too much of that for sooo many years..😁😁its time to cut it out.....at least for few months to come....ABC makes Steve forgot Ivana was there🤣🤣🤣
Just from the look..I will agree with Steve, 6⭐s for each food..bihun sup Kedah, nasi daging and ABC buah which is so rich with accessories! 👍 Those three foods are the best for me so far. Perfekt! (in German) 😂
I suggest you try Abc Salji and bihun sup at Restoran Dinalang Ais Kacang Salji, simpang empat kangkong. The restaurant has been in operation over 30 years ago. In my opinion, it is the tastiest ABC I have ever eaten in Malaysia. you can see the address on google. sincerely, Azmi.
my most favourite place to visit for a soup in Kedah located next to a paddy field in Padang Lumat Kedah known as Sup Pak Ya.The place are hidden gems for soup lovers..While sipping the delicious thick broth we can enjoy the scenery with Gunung Jerai backdrop..such portion but super cheap..
Nasi Daging and bihun sup is favorite my family.. every raya puasa & raya haji we will make it.. it so delicious with air asam kerisik.. bihun sup we also put the sambal kicap..
Ken being all friendly as usual just like in his on video, “apa khbar!” Very nice gesture 🤗 btw, the nasi daging looks good!! Great job steve & ivana you guys give the most honest review it seems!! Now i want to eat that nasi daging and bihun 😌
wow, on a rainy day, bihun sup daging seems very delicious menu for lunch, plus the "rempah ratus" can make your body become kinda hot in a comfortable way
How they made nasi daging? They cooked the rice with beef broth, nasi ayam cooked with chicken broth/stock. Both have different and distinct flavor. Nasi daging is tasty when paired with air asam (tamarind, belacan(shrimp paste), tomato, chilli, onion, sugar). There you have it
Original "Bihun Sup Kedah" is really delicious because of the broth made from fresh beef and bones with spice. The sambal is red and spicy. The bihun colour is yellow because soak in turmeric powder. Original "Nasi Daging Kedah" delicious because of fresh beef cook together with the rice and spice. Nasi daging really goes well with air asam kerisik.
@@JetLagWarriors Glad you like it. You should try local favourite delicious breakfast mackerel fish curry "Gulai Ikan Temenung Batas Paip at Kuala Kedah" and for lunch "Restoran Tok Keramat at Jitra, Kedah" which have many local dish like kerabu, gulai, ikan bakar to eat with white rice. Food at no walls and zinc roof place is so delicious. 😁
Ajinomoto or MSG is not widely use in our cooking unlike Thailand.. The sweetness of the Sup is mainly due to the slow braising of beef and bones plus some added sugar / rock sugar..
If u in KL u should try Nasi Kalut Jitra Mai.. they have 3 Branch At Shah Alam Seksyen 7, Ampang near Great Estern Mall/Gleneagle Hospital and new one at Jalan Doraisamy.. u will get KLCC View.. Best Malay Nasi Kandar.. also from Kedah
I want to recommend you to eat 'laksa Kuala perlis' at perlis in Malaysia. The smallest states in Malaysia. You can get it at 'Kuala Perlis' only. Which means you can eat with 'cakoi','sfera'(similar coconut core curry) and 'pulut panggang'(roasted core dry shrimp with coconut).. the name of restaurant is Kaksu Laksa👍🤗.
Down heading to Ipoh, take a stop at Kerian/Selama area which is popular with mee udang (prawn mee) where big & medium size of prawn taken severed. Approximately cost at Rm5 per dish.
I will never get tired of eating Chicken Rice. It's my go to food in food courts, always extra rice. 7:50 - Steve you can take the soup bowl out from the plate : ) I'm surprised that you haven't been to Gunung Jerai yet
My favourite.... BIHUN SUP!!!!! You are sooooo right.... many delicious food can be found in places with no walls 😁 Many places we call them WARONG (kiosk style but have tables and chairs).... some of these restaurants have delicious food but do not have huge budget for big restaurants... but there are also some who are already successful but stick to the WARONG style.... 😁
If you like ASAM LAKSA ... you should try ASAM LAKSA KEDAH VERSION (MALAY STALL). The taste is different. It's less sour-ish and the laksa is more thicker texture.
hi jetlaggers, although this might be too late, try ipoh food next like mi kicap Medan Kidd or Manjoi, Popia SS Ali, Sup Darus, Ipoh Taugeh Ayam or Capati Sardin Medan Kidd,
Kwn sblah sampai terliur..dlm hati pelaq btl kwn aku xajak mkn..duk taram dh ni..hng tggu sat jp g aku oder bungkus..hahaha...dpt mkn muka happy trus..
