Next time we will have to come visit during durian season. The smell to me (Alan) was very good even overripe like this one was. Smells like delicious garlic/citrus fruit.
@@IfWeGoTo at the time of purchase You can choose the softness of the texture Some peaple can be crispy on the outside/soft on the outside or completely soft💓🇹🇭💓
Durian, mango, rambutan, mangosteen It should be eaten during its season for the best taste. The Thai summer is the peak season for these fruits, approximately from March to May. For durian, there will be 2 groups of people: like it or hate it. And there are many different varieties of durian, some of which are the most delicious but also very rare and expensive. Durian is the king of fruits and mangosteen is the queen. Durian feels hot, Mangosteen feels cool. Thai people have the belief that durian should not be eaten too much and should not be consumed with alcoholic beverages or Coke Pepsi, which can be fatal. But that's just a local dam and we're not sure if it's true.😊🇹🇭🙏
@@IfWeGoTo It's just the belief of the local people. Perhaps because it has a hot effect, it may make your stomach feel full when eating too much. It's like a conspiracy theory.😂😂😂
Thai people often eat it with mangosteen because it has a cooling effect to balance the body. There are many Thai married couples who have marriage problems because one person likes to eat durian and the other hates it. Looking at it from a positive point of view is that you are not a local, so you shouldn't have this problem because it is difficult to find durian and durian is the most expensive fruit in this region, especially if abroad, durian is even more expensive because it is imported.😂
Durian is a high-sugar, high-fat fruit that is difficult to digest after eating. While sweet sodas are very high in sugar and contain carbonic acid, if eaten together, in addition to causing distension and flatulence, the body will receive more sugar than necessary. This results in a rapid increase in blood sugar. which if the patient has diabetes or heart disease, it may be shocking but for normal people the accumulation of sugar in the body If you can't metabolize it completely, it will turn into fat. It's easy to get fat.
I'm Thai and I still remember the feeling when I was a kid trying to eat durian. Your feelings are not different from yours now. For advice, you have to eat almost ripe durian. What you are eating is durian that is overripe and has a bitter taste and a strong smell. respect your video
As a Thai person I understand your feelings Because I'm one of those people who doesn't like durian. But I had to buy durian for my loved ones and it was more expensive than other fruits.❤❤❤
@@IfWeGoTo Some of the reasons durians are expensive 1.It takes time to grow before it can be produced. and take good care of every step. (This is very important. which is the cause of the expensive) 2.It's a seasonal fruit. (Durian has just begun to be sold out of season a few years ago.) 3.There are many types of durian. Some types are very expensive. and if coming from a planting area such as Nonthaburi Province.
Durian was named as the king of fruit because of its uniqueness of smell and taste as well as the difficulty plus the complexity of growing and care-taking of this fruit. The prices of durian were pretty cheap before 10 years ago. In the recent years, Thailand has exported durians a lot to China. Due to the increasing demand of the fruit and its popularlity in the world 's most populated country, the prices have gone up triple from what they were back 10 to 15 years ago. I remember well I used to buy a durian for only 45baht per kilogram back in 2013. Now it's 130-150baht per kilogram.
Just loved to see how the first bite can be mind changing. My Thai wife forced me almost 17 years to give it a try, and it just blew me away! It's like a naturally grown dessert, absolutely fantastic. But of course it doesn't fit everyone's taste. Love or hate it. Like cheese 🙂
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it too, seems you and Alan have similar taste!! Hahah. I think I’ll need to try it again sometime… maybe a different variety 😂
Wow its very rare to see a person like durian the first time like that?!!! I couldn't stand the smell but hold my nose and just ate a junk of it then I started to like it after a few trials and now I love it and has become #1 fruit to me by far...
Durian is the summer fruit if you have chance to come here in summer it will be many type of Durian available better taste and the price will be a lot more cheaper. The sticky rice with Durian in coconut milk is something you should not miss. The green bottle is not tea but it is some kind of Thai herb.
Next time we come to Thailand we will be sure to come during durian season. Also we will have to try sticky rice with durian in coconut milk, it sounds delicious.
For Durian, we have many gene/species of Durian. I recommend to try the one that is not over ripe. You can ask the seller. Talking about gene/species, we have Monthong, Chanee, Kanyao, Long Lub Lae, etc. In addition, each gene from different part of Thailand, you can taste in different. Ex. Durian from Royong, Chantaburi, Nonthaburi, or southern of Thailand still taste different even though the same gene :D. I hope you both will enjoy more in Durian next time if it is not too over ripe.
@@IfWeGoTo I also didn’t realize that the taste perception for durian is genetic and it sounds like Alan perceives it more palatable than Brandi. I think my wife and I are on the Brandi camp with the gag reflex.
We have many styles, many grades of durian. For any one who want to try durian, I recommend to try Monthong durian with medium soft touch. You can tell the seller “Grob Nok Num Nai Mai Gaa” that mean crispy at out side but soft inside and not too old durian.(If too old durian, it’s taste will bitter.
Try and find Durian ice cream or Kakkigori (shaved ice) that’ll change your mind - our recommendation is a place called After You in Siam Paragon the shaved ice version is amazing! 🐱
I love durian! So creamy and juicy, I lived in Singapore and eat it quite frequently. I love it while my sister hates it. It was funny how Alan loved it so much, while she almost wanted to puke hahaha. "It tastes like garbage to me". Allan proceeds to swallow the whole thing.
I like to eat durian very much. but must choose the ones that are not overly ripe The ones you ate were overcooked. will cause a strong smell which will make it unsuitable for people who don't like I always choose durian flesh that is soft and not too mushy. Including the season that is suitable for eating durian in Thailand is from April to May. I just ate durian last December. I admit it's really bad, haha. love your vlog 😊
That's some good info, next time we will go to Aor Tor Kor market and try some better durian. If you can believe it we walked 10km looking for durian and could only find them in Chinatown. I'm excited to try the other varieties of durian and other fruits too!
Hello. Seeing you guys traveling in Thailand, it's very happy. Now Thailand has not opened everywhere, everything. The stores are not yet fully open because of the impact of Covid, but will return to goodvibes for a long time. Thank you for trying to eat durian. If you try to eat without strong smell, you will like it. If you, then you like to eat every class very much. I wish you lots of fun and good luck on the journey thanksdocthanksdocthanksdocgoodvibes
When I was young I could not eat or smell it but I start of little bit the after it fine Durain is most expensive fruit and a lot of benefit for you....😂😂😂😂😂 thank you for you review part of Bangkok .love you guy.
when Brandi say it smells like hot gabage i'm just lmao 5555555 if you are new to durian DO NOT pick the overripe one. as a thai, i always eat durian that not too overripe for me, durian is best when its a bit crunchy the outside and mild the inside, also the smells is not too strong and mild sweetness when its not too overripe. happy travel and always welcome here! love your video by the way ❤❤
Hahaha I am glad you could enjoy my slight discomfort!! We definitely picked the wrong one, will have to try it again the right way next time! Thank you very very much!
I feel sooo bad for you, aweeee she really suffered eating it, reminds me of when I (albis) tried sushi. Amazing video, lovely crocs (you should of get a pair btw)!!! ♥
@@IfWeGoTo unfortunately I dont enjoy sushi at all. I have tried cooked fish, even chicken tempura sushi but I cant enjoy, I gagged badly :( Anyway, I am about to watch the chinatown one, so hopefully I see you enjoy the food a bit more than in this one! :D hugs and kisses!
Aw man! I love it, but Alan hates sushi and fish too, so we get it! Aww thank you!! Let us know what you think! There are some crazy foods available!! hahaha. Thanks again! Much love!
06:00 Wax Apple has an improved variety in Pingtung, Taiwan, which is quite delicious. It is called "Black Pearl". The darker it is, the sweeter it is.
สวัสดีครับ...eating durian in Thailand You tell the seller that Ask for crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It won't smell at all. Or there may be a little bit. Try each durian flesh first to see if it's firm or not. It has a strong smell...and it's a fruit that's quite expensive. Because it takes up to 5 years to grow, start bearing fruit and then start harvesting every year. will be released a lot during April to August
If you would like to explore more about Thailand’s fruits, I would definitely recommend you to go Talad Si Mum Mueng market. It’s the largest agricultural distribution center in Thailand. It’s not far from Don Mueng ariport. Dont miss this place.
เข้าใจความรู้สึกในการกินทุเรียนครั้งแรก เพราะกลิ่นที่รุนแรง แต่ถ้าลองกินอีกสักครั้งคุณอาจจะชอบ Durian was named as the king of fruit and Mangosteen is Queen of fruit.
Hello I'm pleased to see you enjoying to travel in Thailand. For eating durian at the first time you shouldn't eat too ripe durian because it will make you feel yukkie of the smell if you have another chance please try one that hard outside and soft inside and you will love it. ^-^ Have a nice trip and be safe.
that red bell shape fruit is called watery rose apple or java apple. Durian is tasty and creamy especially if frozen. The smell is not strong and it is a natural fruit, certainly not garbage. I wonder what is the taste of garbage as I have never encountered edible garbage in any of my trips abroad.
Thank you for your tips! As we explained in the video though, some people have different genetics that make things smell or taste very different. Have you heard of people who think coriander tastes like soap? Obviously it's not soap and most people don't just eat soap. lol. Obviously we haven't eaten garbage... but you know when smells are so strong it feels like you can taste them? This was the case. Also did you know that much of our taste as humans is *actually* our sense of smell? You know how you cant really taste food well when you're congested...?
Thai fruits has many diversity various & testy depend on breeding area weather season and more Roses Apple sometimes in heavy rain season is so bland like a foam but some species has good taste with high-up price grade. Hope you enjoy with our country 🎉🎉🎉👍❤️
Thanks for the info. You are probably the 20th person to tell us we ate it the wrong way hahaha. Next time we will be sure to try a less ripe one for sure.
4:42 it's centella 5:30 rose apple You can choose the different of ripeness for durian. Maybe you'll feel more delicious if it's more raw. Thai durian is more delicious than Phillipines. If you can patient hot weather in April, I recommend you go to an open garden in rayong province. The fresh fruits are awesome.
@@chongpengsan7425 Actually, it's depend on durian species and monthong is creamy and soft sweet. That's why thai durian is famous. Another thing to know. More age of durian tree is more delicious durian. The most expensive one in nontaburi province is more than 10,000 baht/1fruit because that tree is more than 100 years. If Malaysia has old good specie durian tree maybe it's more delicious.
@@IfWeGoTo In Thailand, we have fruit with sugar + salt + chili. if you buy it from a straw vendor that they chop it for you, they will ask for give that dipping thing to you for free :D
I've watched your channel before. When you visit Adelaide. I m surprise because both of you in Thailand. I understand that there are both likes and dislikes of durian. It's like I can't eat salami and olives either.
Thanks for watching! It's always encouraging to hear people have been following along. Haha salami and olives are also strange things to eat as well. Salami especially, fermented meat can certainly be an acquired taste.
Hello I like you very much you are like a couple who give love and warmth to each other at any time. I love that you guys look at each other or talk to each other and always have a warm smile on your face. I am very funny to see you try to eat durian thai people are also like you people who like it will like it very much and people who don't like it will not like it at all. we will know immediately from smell I wish you all happiness in thailand.
For trying durian for the first time, try crispy, not overcooked and not raw, in the video I think it's overripe and the smell might be strong. The first time I ate it I vomited but after that you will love it hahahaha from Thailand And of course I subscribed to your channel after watching it for the first time.^______^
I wanted to like it so much when I tried it recently in Singapore. My friend got me durian soft serve to try as an “easy” introduction. To me it tasted exactly like rotten onions soaked in acetone. Two bites and I was suffering with the aftertaste for hours…😭
Hahaha I cannot blame them! More for the people who like it!! Blue cheese can be soooo strong. 🤢 haven’t tried natto yet, maybe next time we see Japan we’ll have to!
Both of you should try some mangosteen. It's a queen of fruit(Durian is a king of fruit). It's easier to eat than durian, Sweet, a little bit sours, juicy and don't have a horrbile smell.
I think people just can't help but torture themselves in a harmless way... and in the same vein can't help but watch it. lo. I know we've laughed at a few reactions ourselves!!
Green water in a plastic bottle is Gotu kola drink, Herbal Drink isn't tea. And The season for durians is typically from June to August. If you buy another month. It will so expensive and not tasty.
As I am Durian lover, I would recommend to try the best Montong Durian with highly price, not soft, less smell and that will be the best Durian ever. Then you will love them. The price should be more than 200-300 THB for that amount. Enjoy and agree not to try off season. 😍😍😃😃
