Man this was an absolute blast to re-live! Also, probably the right idea in not showing all the things we saw, or the signs they made telling us not to take photos😅 We had such a fun time with y'all and can't wait to catch y'all somewhere again!!
It was a fun day!! And yeah, we originally had the section in, but thought it might stir up some people so decided to omit it from the final edit. Likewise, hopefully we'll catch you guys again on the road soon!
Thailand's romanization started more than 100 years ago during King Rama VI who was educated in English boarding school for several years when he was till a prince. The system was later standardized by Royal Society of Thailand and all official road signs/places adopt this system. Roman alphabets are not confined only to English/American languages. Almost all European languages adopt Roman alphabets as their main writing system except Greece and Russia. Some non-European countries also do likewise including Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Even though most non-European countries have their own native writing system, they still adopt romanization to help foreigners recognize and pronounce road/place names including Thailand, China (pinyin) and Japan (romaji). Westerners or those who learn English as a second language must accept the fact that those romanized words are not necessarily pronounced like English/American common pronunciation. It is easy to adapt once you know how the native pronounce it. In Thailand, "PH" is pronounced aspirated P (people) while "P" is pronounced non-aspirated P (papa). "KH" is pronounced like "King" such as "Ramkhamhaeng" while "K" is pronounced like "Gong" such as "Krungthep". "TH" is pronounced aspirated T such as "Take" while T is pronounced non-aspirated T such as "one ton". "CH" is pronounced as "J" (jar) such as Chatuchak. It can also be pronounced as "CH" (chat) such as Chang beer.
Ahhh thank you for the quick lesson on Thai pronunciation! It is much appreciated, we definitely get it wrong a lot of the time haha! I'm grateful the Thai are so understanding about it though! :)
The real “Green Part” opens only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, all the plant vendors come and take over the circle road. You can buy trees, flowers, rocks and all your gardening needs. When i say “tree” I mean not only nursery sized trees, but full grown ready to show garden specimens. They come Tuesday morning and leave by Wednesday night. Mondays are when all markets (Chatuchak included) are cleaned. Glad you both are having fun.
I watched your VDO and felt that you smile like Thai women already, it may be your staying long time in Thailand. Please stay until Songkarn festival next week. Both of you will be more happy.
Thank you so much!! We love Thailand! Unfortunately we'll be missing the festival, but I hope we can make it another year because it sounds like so much fun!
Brother and sister you must come our Bangladesh.Every foreigner said we have great hospitality.our culture is similar with India so both of you come our country and enjoy a lot ❤️🇧🇩
15,000? Mall of America is like NOTHING compared to that! 🐠! Chickens that look like teddy 🧸? Wow. “That’s a house swimming around right there.” 😮 Not a bad thing to avoid soda. Potato chip seasoning on bbq chicken? Um… Thai arancini? Different than how we make it. But yum! Awesome art! That is BIG fruit. Welcome to the very messy club! Yum noodles!
We unfortunately left a while a ago (we have a delay on our videos right now) so we will miss it this time. :( But it sounds amazing and we would love to visit for the festival another year!!
Perfect time! Was going to head to bed but Dad said you posted a new video. ❤❤❤. I’d love to check out that market, it looked awesome. Sad about the animal trade.
Hahaha I am jealous, I wish it was bedtime here already. Tired today! The market was really neat.. and the animal market can be sad sometimes, but it is still interesting to check out as it is. It probably wont stay that way for too long.
For the busy places, I recommend eat hot foods (don’t eat food that cooked and stand there for may long long time) and don’t have drink with ice too (many people walk and dust). And don’t eat the desserts with coconut milk in the hot temperatures like this market. You may get food poisoning. Have a good day.
If the animals are being bred, then that would be a LOT better. :) We've read a lot about wild plant/animal trade and a lot of these animals may not necessarily be bred though, but we can't say for certain the origins of many of them... we can only advocate for the end of poaching and fair treatment of animals. :)
