This box is awesome. As a Swiss, I couln't have done better. Shoutout to Leandra for sending this box because due to the high prices in Switzerland, this box must have cost a fortune!
Important to know: swiss chocolate is actually of less quality when bought in any other country. Switzerland has special laws regarding the quality of chocolate. To save money, the swiss brands do the chocolate with cheaper ingredients for other countries. So i hope you enjoyed the "real" swiss chocolate.
You actually have to read the wrapper. At least for Lindt. Fancier stores sometimes have "made in Switzerland but it's made in other countries as well. Even in Switzerland the cheap Lindt chocs at Aldi are usually made in Germany or some other EU country. In DE you can get it expensive (CH-made) as well as cheaper (German-made) at e.g. Edeka.
Where are my fellow Swiss people? 🙋🏽♀️🇨🇭 I’m so happy that you guys finally tried sweets from my country ☺️I’m currently doing an exchange year in England and I have to admit, I miss some of the Swiss sweets 😅❤️❤️
WHY did RU-vid recommend this video to every Swiss person in the last 24 hours? 😂 Ovomaltine really has formed our nation, if I do say so myself.
Props to Leandra. She made the most organized and informative snackbox i've seen so far on the internet. 20/10 for her. And as a swiss citizen i am happy you guys liked our treats. I think we got a new Ovomaltine Fan according to this video.
Really nice selection. I couldn't have done it better. Leandra spend a whole lot of money for all that stuff and shipping. I appreciate that she covered Switzerland so good😊
I‘m german but a huge Switzerland fan and moved there for a while - never been happier... the nature is beautiful and the people just are so care free 😍 I get so happy watching this
Läderach is my number one!!!! Switzerland is beautiful, but the people are so polite, Swiss peeps put us Brits to shame on the politeness topic. Its romancic. I went i saw and wanted to stay forever!!!!
Ovomaltine actually has a nice slogan: with ovomaltine you are not able to do smth better, but you may try for a longer time (mit ovo chaschs ned besser, aber länger)
@@chrisbrownx my favourite "supermarket chocolate" is actually athe black Ragusa tbh. (there's nicer chocolate, sure. But dark Ragusa is the one I actually want when I'm just in the mood for chocolate😅)
This was most interesting to watch, I must say. It‘s always fascinating to watch people try our specialties for the first time. I must say that even Swiss people wouldn‘t know how to describe the taste of Rivella if the question were asked. 😂 Huge credit to Leandra for providing all these delicious snacks and beverages seen in the video. 😊
Well Switzerland does have dialects that are distinct from german and usually not understood by german speakers. But it is the "germanic" part of the country contrasted to the franco/italophone regions and of course the rumantsch. Also, the Rivella flavour is a lactic byproduct that gets left over in cheese making iirc.
i would say that switzerland has 4 languages: french, italian, retoromanic and swiss german. swiss german is a spoken language only. so, no grammar or anything like that. and because the spoken language has so many different dialects and you can basically write anything down as you please, we use german as a substitute in all public correspondance, school, uni etc
Fun fact in the Toblerone is not a Polar bear just a normal brown bear, and that is because where they started to produce the chocolate is our capital city Bern. And in the logo of the canton is a bear and also there is a reserve in the city, where two bears live. 🤗
damn, everything about this is so swiss! the way she went kind of "over the top" with how organised it is, the way she says sorry for her basically perfect english and of course the products (i would probably have sent the exact same ones for the most part)
about the cantons: yes, they are a lot more like american states. except that some of them just have about 20k inhabitants. but they are quite autonomous. and of course, just like on national level, there are popular votes being held 4 times per year about multiple proposed new laws. we do that on federal, cantonal and communal level and in total we probably vote for or against about 40 laws every year (again, that is including a bunch of very local ones, so the number depends a bit on the region)
Switzerland is the best country in the world in my opinion! I love the paprika crisps, I have them every time I’m there. I’m half Swiss and love it so much that I got married there 3 years ago.
The things that Leandra packed into this package are an accurate representation of Switzerland. I have never seen a video that represented Switzerland better. This makes every Swiss person feel really nostalgic. You can really see that Leandra put some real thought in this box while putting it together. Amazing! I love how she provided you guys with a description of, what every item is and, that she made a little educational spreadsheet. I really enjoyed this video! It made me want to go to the supermarket and buy all the things mentioned in the video. What I loved the most about the video, wasn't just the selection of snacks that Leandra choose. It was the accuracy that this box provided. I got really proud of our culture while watching this video. Thank you guys for making this video and for being so kind and open minded while trying all the snacks! 😊
I am swiss living in England and I had major food and drink envy just now. I wish Leanne would send me this box as well:). All very true and typical delicious swiss products. I really miss a piece of home now. As a Swiss national I am so happy you enjoyed it all :)
Spruso: so every item in Switzerland is labelled in 3 languages, bonbons = french, caramello = italuan, doesn't mean it's caramel! So basically it all means sweets
i just saw this video and thought man, we have delicious sweets and snacks how did i ever took this for granted 😍😍😍 thanks for the reminder and leandra just went above and beyond! voll guet gmacht😊👍🏼
Hello, i am new here and i grew up and live in Switzerland. I love that video. I want to add something about the languages in Switzerland. The german part in Switzerland don‘t speak the normal german, which is known in Germany. Every different Kanton has there own dialect. So the Germans normally don‘t understand our dialect. And also as a Swiss Person, we have sometimes problems to understand each other, because every dialect has his own words 😊
Why you say that germany speaks all the same without dialect? In germany germans don't understand germans, if they speak their local dialects. So it's exactly the same.
@@nichderjeniche Swiss German is grammatically distinct from German. For example we only have two verb tenses. You can't really call it German with different dialects as that is just simply incorrect. All the town names here have been German-ified because of policy choices and (almost) none of them were pronounced the way they are written down. Some have been changed to the point that many people nowadays don't remember how they were originally pronounced. It was a political choice to associate our language more closely with German even when linguistically speaking it is different enough to warrant being it's own language. It is most definitely a germanic language and big parts of our vocabulary overlaps but it is not the same language.
@@martinajana8069 did you even read what I wrote? Nobody speaks normal german in some swabian, frisian or bavarian areas etc. and they can't understand each other as well. So where's the difference?
As a Swiss-Italian from Ticino I just loved how you prounanced "Canton Ticino" and "Riva San Vitale" (actually the last one was pretty accurate). Love it
Interesting fact about Ragusa: Ragusa was invented during the 2nd World War. Because chocolate was rare during that time they created a bar almost entirely with hazelnut and only little chocolate on the outside. I really liked your video!
Whenever you come to Switzerland, please go to the city of Fribourg and try the TRUE fondue in the “Café du Midi”. You’ll know then what a real fondue tastes like 😍😍
Swissgerman: Magebrot und Butter?😂 Ich glaub ich spinne😂 Das isch ja abartig😂😅 Englisch: Stomach bread and butter?😂 I Think im crazy😂 that's terrible😂😅 Swissgerman is a nice and funny language😂💪🏻
Liandra did such good job thinking of all these swiss treats and also with the explanations for them. Im glad you enjoyed them. Its nice to see people from other countries love our food as well.
OMG as a swiss you just destroyed my life rn..... I'm trying to get down my weight a little bit and then you are eating ovo crunch spread with nusstängeli..... wtf I never came up with this idea but now I have to try it so bad and I know right away its the end of my weigth loss try😂😂😂😭😭😭😭
I loved your video and enjoyed it so much (a swiss viewer🇨🇭) Leandras effort to make this box and write down everything carefully, is just incredible. And this box must have been really expensive too... the Zweifel Crisps alone cost me around 4-5$ here. She really putted a lot of expensive treats inside.
The Name of Flauder comes from the Word "Flickflauder", which means butterfly in the regional dialect from Appenzell (is even written on the backside of the frontside label) Hammär Job Leandra!
It is said that Einstein developed his theory of relativity within 43 minutes. I am watching two Brits eating and drinking stuff I've already been surrounded with my whole life in that time. Take that Albert!
I’m so ready for the long videos, love them! Also hope your both doing well! Have an amazing weekend. And your channel is truly the best brings so much joy and happiness thank you
Rivella is a soft drink from Switzerland, created by Robert Barth in 1952, which is produced from milk whey, and therefore includes ingredients such as lactose, lactic acid and minerals
the Kambly biscuits that you're eating at 21:00 are, as you read, from Emmental and they were also inventet there generations ago. I actually live in the exact village where they were inventet and still mainly produced. We are a 1'400 people village. Actually Oskar Kambly III is a good friend of my grandfather and i also know him personally and my best friend and other friends work there. The funny thing is that everytime a swiss person asks me from where i am i first say the name of my hometown and nobody knows where it is, but when i say the word Kambly everyone knows what i'm talkin about. :)
I've been watching your videos for a while now, but I've never left a comment. While working I had this video on and I nearly fell off my chair hearing you say my name hahaha! I rarely come across people who are named Leandra. What a coincidence! Anyway, another great snack box! Hope you're well!
Bin grad mega froh bini nüd die einzig wo das dänkt! Wtf? Han nonie ghört, dass das öpper so isst xD (Translation: I'm so glad I'm not the only one who's never heard of eating "Stomach bread" with butter! Wtf? Never heard of anyone eating it that way xD)
also mitem birebrot gohts.. döt hanis no gern.. aber magebrot mit butter?? ales hesch supper gmacht leandra.. nur butter chunt nöd ufs magebrot.. und senf chunt nur ufs wienerli und nöd ufd st. galler brotwurscht 😂 immer die kantonale usenandersetzige.. i ghörs scho 😂

I've lived in Switzerland for ten years, but I still learned a bunch from this video! Will definitely try some of these snacks next time I'm shopping!
