Hi Nicole and Mark, nice to meet you. Glad to hear you were enjoying yourselves in my country. You mention the Korean TV series, so you must have been to Iseltwald ;-) I hate the smoking, too. So disgusting. Up until about 14 years ago, it was actually allowed to smoke INSIDE a restaurant. Too bad you came here during the off season - on the other hand, you have to come back soon!

Thanks for checking out our new channel. Nice to meet you too! We did go to Istewald. We took the interlaced ferry there. It was great! Despite the off season, it was truly an amazing experience. We’ll definitely be back!!

Hello from Basel (Switzerland), it's great that you took the trip and shared your experiences. Chocolate, cheese, bread, water, yes, roughly speaking, these are the things that are special here, although you should also include various dishes. However, these are not exactly cheap in restaurants, although for 2 people it would have to remain under 100 CHF. I don't quite agree with you about breakfast, that it's not the healthiest, from my point of view this depends on the ingredients, which are just as good as conventional (i.e. natural) at breakfast, the amount is another topic, but as you said yourself, if you are active enough, it doesn't really matter (if you work harder, you also need more calories). I'm amazed at your praise for our beer, I thought that was more the domain of Germany, but I'm absolutely not a beer drinker myself, so I can't say more about that. The water in the mountains, it's like that, nowhere, you won't get better, fresher water with such an incomparably natural taste from any mineral water bottle. By the way, Switzerland is called the water tower of Europe because a lot of water from Switzerland supplies other countries. With the Swisspass, the SBB app and the public transport you have done everything right, our public transport opens up almost every corner of our country and the various companies work together in the background so that you can also travel with the others with one ticket, quite natural. Speaking of tickets, yes, these are not checked continuously, but if you do not have a valid ticket, it will cost you at least CHF 90 (per person, the first time, then CHF 130 and then CHF 160). That may sound expensive, but if you consider that public transport is largely funded by us, i.e. by public tax money, it is correct that anyone who drives without paying will be asked to pay accordingly. Orientation, well, from my time in the army I know that our maps are very good, that would have helped too (ok, GPS, Google Map is the more modern version). Google Translate will help you to translate the menu card, but it would not help you with our dialects, as far as I know there is nothing that can translate all our dialects (not important for you, because everyone can speak standard German, English or whatever). Rubbish, yes, we are proud of our country and try to take care of it as best we can. The cities provide (smaller) rubbish bins for the waste you get along the way, here in Basel, especially in the summer season on the banks of the Rhine, additional containers are parked (roughly every 500 meters) so that people who enjoy the day/evening on the banks of the Rhine can dispose of their waste (from picnics, barbecues, etc.). The illegal disposal of rubbish (sacks, etc.) is punished with considerable fines, which is absolutely correct in this case, because this disposal would otherwise be at the expense of the taxpayer, because here in most towns you pay for the disposal of the waste Waste by quantity (fees per specific waste bag), which also ensures that we recycle what is recyclable (glass, aluminium, pet, metal, etc.). In conclusion, I think you hardly did anything wrong, from the north-east (Appenzellerland) via Lauterbrunnen to the south-west (Geneva). As small as our country is we have a huge problem, there are spots around every corner so impossible to see them all in even 4 weeks. You can only do one thing, visit us again sometime.

Hello!!! Wow, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with us. Wish my wife was a little more adventurous with food. LOL. Appreciate your feedback about the breakfast and you are probably right about the beer. Maybe it was because we were in the mountains that made it taste so good! :) Traveling by public transportation was so much fun and so easy. One of the favorite parts of our trip was knowing we could visit anywhere with ease. You are also very right about so many spots around every corner, but it's not a huge problem for us because we intend on going back! See ya real soon!! -Mark & Nicole

Y'all sound like my wife and I. We like adventures and we're planning our lifetime trip to climb Kilimanjaro in Africa! We were training and hiking local hikes around La and some in CO and AZ and TN, then life happened and we were involved in a motorcycle wreck where we both were injured. She got a bad concussion and I was broken up. Broke left arm destroyed right shoulder broken toes ect, ect... Well it slowed us down but it did not stop us and let me tell you if you make it out of a wreck like we were in then you really don't take the things for granted that God has made the beauty of nature and adventure and a passion for photography and sharing our experiences with others is what we plan on doing too so we will follow y'all and share with y'all ours adventures as we go thru this life together! Love your video and it's what we wanna do and see! Thanks for sharing! 😊

Definitely something Nicole and I would really enjoy. We signed up to do a 29029 Everesting event in Vancouver in September for my birthday. Ever heard of it? So sorry to hear about the motorcycle wreck, but awesome to hear it's not stopping you guys from slowing down a bit. Keep after it!!!!

Proper swiss breakfast is Birchermüesli. Bärner Oberland is an amazing place, that's were Lauterbrunnen is. You say you hiked around Appenzell, did you go up Säntis? That's the biggest mountain in the area, it's a great introduction mountain hike, I have done it many times. Where would you recommend is the best place in USA to hike mountains? For someone with lot's of experience in the Alps.
@MarkandNicole
@MarkandNicole Год назад
Thanks for the recommendation for breakfast. We did hike up Santis and it was great! As far as USA goes for hiking, and just to note we're no experts, but the Colorado Rockies are amazing and you can also check out Moab Utah.

I went to Switzerland last year (even to Zermatt) and never had an inkling about having Indian food or any non-regional cuisines. When I went to Britain during university, I did go to a Pizza Hut but I came to realize that it is better to do more authentic things that you can’t do or have here.

Good channel, nice that you share your first experience with me as a Swiss:) Another small note, you should clarify who is talking about you. You often talk into the word and mostly the man talks 😅For me as a listener it was often exhausting to watch. So in the future, clarify who tells what;)
