Re that extender. you can get permanent ones that swing back to the trailer draw bar for the road and swing foward, crippling into a supporting bracket near the hutch, for launching. The done on the flat and no jockey wheel down when launching. These easily break if down while moving as you know I'm sure.

Well done Alex. Looks great. Wilson's is on my list of places to launch but I have not been there yet. A little tip with the trailer extension bar, try to only pull straight with it. I saw a guy try to turn as he came up the slipway and he actually bent the bar he had, it was like a Banana 😂
@AlexGoesSailing
@AlexGoesSailing 7 месяцев назад
Yeah I think that’s the best way too. Also see people just using a rope to do it! Might give that a go when the bar isn’t long enough. Thanks for watching I really appreciate you!

Hi Alex I am a regular viewer of you channel and are always very interested in how you solve the different issues that present themselves. I have a Boomaroo 22 (UK Jaguar 22) so done similiar myself. Question? how do you find changing the outboard from 5-20hp. It will be heavier so as you leave it mounted towing on the road it will put more strain on the outboard support bouncing around on the transom. I always remove my 6hp for the road putting in the car but have the smell of fuel on the way home.
@AlexGoesSailing
@AlexGoesSailing 7 месяцев назад
Thanks for watching Ian! I’m comfortable leaving this 20 on the tri while towing as the mount is very solid being glass and stainless. With my old boat Meraki the 6 was lighter but the mount wasn’t that solid especially since it actually broke off that one time. If it was hard mounted to the transom then I would probably leave it on. I alway took it off and put it in the car. Usually ran it out of fuel before it did though. Could also put it in the boat possibly. Hope this helps Ian!

Hi, I'm curious. Having watched your site occasionally since you started, I would comment that originally you had very basic kit and were doing things the majority of us cash pressed sailors were doing. Now you have a highly sophisticated trimaran, a minority choice of boat, apparently being fully kitted out to a high standard with the aid of support from various manufactures. My questions; Is this making videos your full time job ? How much kit to you get given for free from the manufactures ? Who else contributes cash for you to sail and make videos?
@AlexGoesSailing
@AlexGoesSailing 7 месяцев назад
Very good questions! Also thank you for watching for so long!!! So making videos for me is just a hobby at the moment as my full time job is as a civil engineer. Kit received from various companies is either at a discount or for free which helps greatly when kitting out a boat. I only pick companies that I would have otherwise bought from anyway and will always give the pros and cons because everything will have some downsides that should be mentioned. Apart from that all my sailing adventures are supported by my full time job. Ad revenue from RU-vid barely covers the cost of camera equipment. As for this fancy trimaran, it was a bit of a wreck when I got her and needed a lot of work. I picked her up for £10k which is almost what I put into Meraki! Considering in the us these have been selling for 60+ I made a great deal but with lots of work and money to get her fixed up. Cosmetically still a disaster though 😂. I hope this has answered all your questions and again thank you for watching for all this time Bob!!!
@bobfalkner7466
@bobfalkner7466 7 месяцев назад
Hi Alex, Many thanks for such a comprehensive and honest reply. I was wondering if you had sold out and relying on patreons to finance your sailing! Please carry on, your videos are always informative and interesting. I like the way you fast forward the obvious bits. I also admire the way in which you purchase almost projects and put in a lot of hard work and money to turn them into really worth while boats. I have been watching for a while and will continue to do so.
