Sometimes I cook it, sometimes I get it from the local Filipino store who cooks fresh dishes every day. I don't know if it's a filipino thing, but I LOVE feeding people. I use food to show my love - and Filipino food, to me, is the ultimate expression of love - as it's the food I grew up with.
@mellmendoza1049

It's a Filipino thing. I live in Oklahoma, USA and I love giving my American neighbors Filipino food and they love the dishes! I remember when I was young in the Philippines, my mother and our neighbors would give each other a bowl of food for lunch. So even though my mother cooked just rice and 1 ulam (dish to accompany the rice), we always end up with 3 or 4 different ulam.

Pork Sisig, "it is your bride in your wedding day" and you with all your complicated emotions. 3. Laing, "a kick on the face" but don't worry... it will sooth you all over. 4. Adobo in Banana leaf, a heavenly mist that will make you "beg for mercy" .

woah! finally someone who says filipino dish is underrated..coz its true filipino dish is not as big as other food like Thai, Chinese or even Japanese cuisine. Philippines is the melting pot of asia where different food comes and filipino's make their own version and make it a Filipino Dish. Thats why you can see alot of influence from Chinese, Japanese, Malaysian, Thai, and Spain.

First tip to enjoy Filipino food, at Manam you should eat your sinigang pork soup with steamed rice, and sisig paired with steamed rice as well, and Laing must DEFINITELY be accompanied with a spoonful of steamed rice with every bite...otherwise its just too sour or too salty just eaten on its own.

Mike, you gotta try going to Pampanga, the culinary capital of the Philippines. There are alot of good places to eat here. For street foods, I recommend the street foods of Baguio City. Their night market is something you shouldn’t miss if you go there.

Jacqui Alvendia Baguio boy here. The street food during the night market is the same as food you can find anywhere in the Philippines, though probably what you'll find unique are congees and noodle soup coz of the cold weather. Other than that, you can also find cooked viands.
