Attack on Titan is set in a world where humanity lives inside cities surrounded by enormous walls due to the Titans, gigantic humanoid beings who devour humans. When I first saw it in 2014, I’ll never forget that every feeling I had when I saw the female titan sprinting towards them in the distance and my immediate thought was, oh shiiit erens mom is a titan somehow and she’s hauling ass trying to rescue him now that he is beyond the wall. I was theorizing that what if the civilization that fled behind the walls was actually like a nazi germany type country that had released a bioweapon(titans) to win a world war and it went awry and killed the rest of the world, so they were the bad guys and erens mom was trying to rescue her kid or something. It made sense too when she spared armin , it was her kids best childhood friend. All in all I really miss that head cannon I had then, it all made sense with the entirely Germanic names of characters, as well as the ost’s for season 1.

@@SamuelPulkkinen-jp8ev I assume they may be thinking it in the way that the pilot doesn't have to ressemble the vessel. Not because you're piloting a plane that means that you're a smaller plane yourself. And Eren doesn't resemble his titan that much anyway, so they probably think that there isn't a super direct correlation between your looks and your titan's one.

@@Cibanti there is a biiiiiig difference with thinking the pilot doesn't look the same in many ways and thinking a black haired, dark-eyed MAN transforms into a blonde, blue-eyed WOMAN. Eren's titan has his hair color and eyes and masculine traits, I'm pretty sure even they saw some resemblance in him and his titan. Getting at least the likely sex right is not something I ever could've thought was up to debate. 😂

As for the question about why the horses that the scouts in the trees left behind are not being harmed, remember in one of the earlier episodes it was mentioned that titans are only attracted to humans, they roam peacefully amongst other animals and nature beyond the walls. Titans only hurt them if there is a human on the horse and the horse is really just collateral damage, or as we see in this episode, a suspected human in a titan doing it only for strategic reasons.

I love how the show gives you a few episodes of calm only to hit you with the Female Titan. Said titan is currently decimating the scouts. I love the detail of Jean being so focused on Mikasa that he forgot Reiner was 2nd to her in their class in terms of skills. Even so, the Female Titan keeps coming up with new and creative ways to fight back against our characters. This isn't going to just be an easy test run mission.

When you get to the very end of the first season, we had to wait 4 whole years for season two. When you get to that point and see what we saw, I think you'll understand why we went crazy and feel our pain at least a little bit. I'm glad you won't have to suffer through that and can dive into season 2 and the OVAs right away. The source material was partially at fault for the long break, because it wasn't that far ahead at the time. The animation studio is also quite small and was loaded with other projects. Later AoT was prioritized over other projects so the delays between seasons weren't so long any more.

13:08 Never forget, Reiner is second only to Mikasa in skill ranking. He's just not as showy or outgoing and much stronger physically than her. He's no pushover. Everyone stares in awe at Mikasa and Levi's skill, but several of Eren's class could be considered almost peers of the elite soldiers. They're little more than students and require experience, but they DID rank in the top ten out of hundreds of other students. Remember back to the assessment their instructor Keith Shadis gave of them right before they graduated back in ep 4? He said Armin is a master level tactician to the point where it elevates his slightly better than average skills with ODM gear to place him in the top ten cadets while calling Connie dumb yet nasty quick with his ODM gear.

LIGHT WEIGHT OF TITANS: Its just a simple line to explain how titan bodies abide the square-cube law in physics. As the size of a body increases, its volume increases by a factor of 3 (cubed), while the strength only increases by a factor of 2 (squared). So basically, after a certain point, the body doesn't have enough strength to keep up its shape. Hence the titans are light so that they can have their (weird) body shapes. But also have enough strength.

The first intro song will always be my favorite. It was my ringtone for a bit lol. But an interesting thing to note about the second song is that the intro of the song itself sounds patriotic. The key it's in. The pacing of the notes. It has to have been intentional.

I love this intro song! To me it's a hopeful theme where the people inside the walls actually feel like they can win. It's also really underrated .. Get so many chills once the main part hits about halfway through.
