Attack on Titan is set in a world where humanity lives inside cities surrounded by enormous walls due to the Titans, gigantic humanoid beings who devour humans. what i love is that everyone in scout regiment trusts erwin so much. even levi was ready to see everyone get killed cause erwin said to keep on moving forward and in the end erwin managed to capture the female titan alive

just fyi: erens basement is in shinganshina, which is one of the outer bubbles of wall maria. since the colossal titan broke through shinganshina's gate, then the armored titan smashed through wall maria, the whole inside of wall maria is roaming with titans. erens house is in a very dangerous area that will take a while to get to with many titans along the way, so it's not as easy as just heading over there.

I think MANY reactors don't get this. They think the story is being deliberately dragged. Everything happening is pretty much a means to an end, which is to work their way to the basement.

^ to add on to this, Levi squad mentioned in a previous episode that this expedition is a “trial run” of heading to Shiganshina. They haven’t forgotten about the basement! Just going through the motions and being prepared :)

They didn't forget the basement. The area they're in is within wall Maria, which got breached in episode 2. The basement is in Shiganshina, which sits on the outside of wall Maria. With the walls in total being about the size of a country like Germany, they have to basically get through a lot of hostile titan territory. This whole mission was, allegedly, a test run to get there. But of course now we know it was meant to lure out whoever infiltrated them back then when the wall got breached. That's why Erwin was spouting the whole basement news and this mission to ALL recruits back then.

The reason they don't want Eren to turn into titan was because Eren can't control himself after he transform. Remember that he attack Mikasa after turning. If he can't control himself, he will become liability. About the Erwin plan. They changed a few dialogues. In the manga, Erwin thought was explain with more details. The person that killed Sawney and Bean was wearing Survey Corp uniform. That's why he suspect there's a spy among them. The reason why only few certain amount of soldiers was told the whole plan was because, - First they found out through Eren that human can turn into titan. That fact make them suspect that the Armor Titan and Colossal Titan was also human. - Second, if the person who killed Sawney and Bean was person that can turn into titan just like Eren, that mean there's a spy among them. - Third, if the titans was among them. How they get inside the wall. The only explanation was, when the Colossal Titan kicked the gate open and let those other titans inside 5 years ago, the human that can turn into titan also got inside the wall and blend in with the other survivors pretending to be one of them. That's why the only soldiers who knows Erwin full plan was the soldiers that already in the Survey Corp more than 5 years. Everyone else that joined the Survey Corp the last 5 years was a suspect.

@@trequor My mistake, they saw the culprit fly away using ODM gear which only military had access to. That's why they suspect the military, not the Survey Corp in particular. There's also something else that the manga making clear off that the anime somehow not only didn't mention any but also didn't portrayed very well. The speed of titans healing and their disintegrate. The disintegrate really fast in the manga. Only military can kill titans because the knife on their gear was made by special metal. Ordinary metal can't kill titans because the titan skin was actually hard to penetrate. If they use ordinary knife, the knife not sharp enough to cut that deep, and before they try again, the wound would heal in second. The titan blood also can make the knife dull (probably because of the heat), that's why the Survey Corp have plenty spare knife in their gears.

@@scorpiongurlz89 The part with the blades is both self-explanatory in the anime and over explained in the manga. Slicing flesh is really quite difficult, and bone ever more so. To cut through the neck while flying through the air necessarily requires extremely sharp and thin blades. The blades ought to degrade fast under this type of stress

I think you guys misunderstood about when they said something about being in the survey corps for 5 years, what they meant by that is only the guys that has been in the survey corps for 5years knows about the original plan while the rest of survey corps doesnt know anything. meaning erwin trusted the guys thats been in the corps for 5years and thats why they were the only ones that knows about the real plan. Theyre not talking about the infiltrator being in survey corps for 5years. the mole could be new/old or not even in survey corps we dont know ;)

They might have gotten confused in the moment thinking the hooded figure, who the characters thought was Levi, was the titan shifter. But in the moment it came out as "the titan is levi" rather than "the titan is the hooded figure" Brains skip over proper info or mistake words sometimes when making a guess

The female titan-essentially she did pull off a risky move. She screamed like a cornered animal which generally that’s a cry for help but it can also alert other predators to your location and your peril as well. She apparently knew the other titans would come running like predators to take advantage of her vulnerability. And in the midst of that chaos and confusion she left the Titan body and the Titans kept feeding on her disintegrating Titan form. We have seen now how the Titan body when the person leaves can still remain for a period of time…it kind of seemingly disintegrates and not always immediately.

The reason only Eren's hand transformed was because he could not reach the spoon on the ground on the first try because his arm was to short. So he had a "reason" the transform.

Keep in mind the basement is still another layer of the broken wall away from them. Both the attack 5 years ago and the attack recently left multiple holes in the wall, this is them exploring the closest section to them.

Really loving the reactions. Its so entertaining watching someone else have all the questions i did, and even bringing up things i never thought of when i first watched. I do love the sub but the dub has some great lines. When Armin and Jean are chatting in the forest about sacrifice, the english version has a line like “you must sacrifice your humanity. Become a monster to defeat monsters”. And that stayed with me throughout the whole show.

You guys are on season two now so I’m sure you know that the basement is in shiganshina which is the farthest south outpost on wall Maria. So they have to retake wall Maria (which is the lands they are in right now) and then retake shiganshina to get to the basement. So just keep that in mind.

1x19: I love how episode 19 was all about building up the trust between Eren and Levi squad. Levi calls Eren a monster and says it has nothing to do with his Titan form. We see a flashback with how much the squad didn't trust Eren and how on edge they were with him. But they were slowly able to come together and apologize. Eren put his faith in others and the female titan was captured. Everything went well. 1x20: Or that's what you'd expect to happen. But the female titan screams out to attract the other titans, gets consumed and escapes and is now disguised as one of the other soldiers. Not to mention they struck down one of the members of Levi squad, Gunther. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong.

I know its a bit confusing but this arc, the 57th Expedition Outside the Walls, has nothing to do with the basement. Its a test run before the retaking of Wall Maria. At least that's what it would've been if this Female Titan didn't show up.

I wouldn't worry too much about the people who are gatekeeping name pronunciations. You can pronounce them as they are written or however you feel comfortable. There's a bunch of people in this fandom that are weird when it comes to name pronunciations for whatever reason, despite not realizing that these names are mostly German names, converted into Japanese which where then romanized. For linguistic context, the Japanese language does not have as many spoken syllables as germanic or romance languages. So technically speaking, the names of characters are actually being incorrectly pronounced in the Japanese language audio of this series. This honestly is not a very big deal, but it's annoying when people start trying to gatekeep name pronunciations based on how the Japanese actors say the names when, in reality, it's the Japanese pronunciations that are technically incorrect. (Which, being incorrect is not a big deal. I'm just pointing out the technicality). I suppose if you _really_ wanted to be perfectionists, you could look up and listen to German pronunciations and copy those... but, like... are we really gonna hang up on this? Lol. I'd say just enjoy the show, man.

So you think that someone wanting someone to pronounce your name correctly is gatekeeping? My name is spelled Larrye on my birth certificate but people pronounce it Larry. I'm not gatekeeping it by wanting you to pronounce it correctly. Just because someone finds it tedious or lazy to pronounce a syllable in the year 2024 is the bigger issue. I go over seas and I asked a person how to pronounce their name and I ask how do they want me to say it out of respect not what a American wants me to say it. It's all a out respect and courtesy. My father once said if you don't respect a person's name how are you going to respect that person if you don't think it's a big deal for someone to say your name incorrectly

Yeah no I believe episode 25 has the first after credits scene. Keep an eye out for "To be continued", it always marks the end of an episode. If there's an after credits, it doesn't show up until after that. The only things that will ever play after "To be continued" are the outro songs and previews

The female Titan can summon other Titans to her. In a previous episode they had mentioned that all the Titans that came to attack the different groups came from the same direction as her, so she summoned them to attack. In a way she did call them to help, what they were doing was destroying the Titan body to distract the survey corp, while the person inside escaped. One correction, is that they're not saying that the female Titan is someone who has been with the survey corp for 5 years. They're saying the core group of Erwin, Hange, Levi and Miike have been with the survey Corp together for 5 years which is why they knew the plan but no one else did. What they're saying is that whoever is the female Titan is from their ranks, which is the reason why they're keeping the plan secret, because they would be risking the person who is the female Titan knowing the plan.

I highly recommend a TV show called "The Expanse" It's the most realistic sci-fi out there with a ton of action (ships, guns, handtohand) Really really good to watch with friends.

It's safe to assume the female titan was faster than the titans chasing her. having 100 titans chasing her is great way to have no pursuit once you've breached the survey corps outer line. When to watch to the end. If the show doesn't say TO BE CONTINUED there is a end credits scene. DO NOT SKIP END CREDITS SCENES. One of them is no big deal. All the others will *mess you up.*

Your best bet for after credit scenes it just to wait until you see "To Be Continued". If the credits/outro start, but you haven't seen the "To Be Continued" screen yet, keep watching. Especially in later seasons

Ok, so some pointers and question answers for you guys: 1. I'd get used to pausing and actually readin those information debreifs that pop up - there are times when they give important information, backstory and foreshadowing....and then sometimes its useless info😅 but read them anyway 2. Consider watching the OVA's which are individual character backstories for some of the characters that flesh the characters out and make them even more layered. 3. The correct pronunciations of the names are as follows: - Eren: "EH-ren" (like Erin but said with Japanese inflection like the Answer did) - Mikasa: "MEE-kah-sa" with emphasis on the "me" not "kah-sa" so it's not "mi casa) -Armin: "AR-mihn" ( not "AR-mahn") -Erwin: "AIR-vihn" or "AIR-win" but "ERR-win" is fine - Jean: "zh-ahn" (french) -Bertholdt : "Bert-holt" - Ymir: "YIM-eer" or "IM-eer" -Shiganshina: "Shee-GAHN-shih-nah" - The walls: "MAH-ree-a", "Rohs-eh", "SHEE-nah" 3. Physical pain + goal in mind = titan transformation 4. I would suggest only listening to the opening and not watching them because DD is right, the openings indeed give spoilers. But DO listen to the openings because they change every half season and they're AMAZING. 5. Abandon wanting to know what's in the basement until further notice, youre gonna be waiting a while 😉 6. The female titan's scream can control the titans to SOME degree. She indeed called them to come destroy her body so she could escape in the tumult 7. We want 2 episodes a week!!!!!

Hi guys, it's been a while since i watched and commented your newer stuff (still catching up with some content at mostly random) and i loved this reaction episode.
