Hi everyone! :)
Today we are watching the movie BATMAN BEGINS (2005). This was Tania's first time watching the movie and Dillon's second time.
Join us along this jaw-dropping movie based on the DC Comics superhero Batman.
PLOT: A young Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) travels to the Far East, where he's trained in the martial arts by Henri Ducard (Liam Neeson), a member of the mysterious League of Shadows. When Ducard reveals the League's true purpose -- the complete destruction of Gotham City -- Wayne returns to Gotham intent on cleaning up the city without resorting to murder. With the help of Alfred (Michael Caine), his loyal butler, and Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman), a tech expert at Wayne Enterprises, Batman is born.
Sit back and enjoy this masterpiece with us while you fall in love with its compelling storytelling, rich character development and a darker, more sophisticated portrayal of Gotham's iconic hero.

Every time I think Australia sounds like a nice place to live, someone has to mention those damn huntsman spiders... or some other crazy Aussie wildlife, like Ozzyman - he seems like crazy wildlife 😂 I jest, of course. Now, that facial hair you got going on, that's gotta be some dangerous Australian hairy caterpillar, right? 😂😂

First off, in case it isn't obvious, women aren't my type... but dude, your wife - or you madam, whomever reads these - is stunningly beautiful! And that hair is fire... while not literally, figuratively and virtually. What is her accent, I just can't place it. I want to say Eastern European, but I think I'm totally off on that.

Recently the train scene, how Batman leaves Ras in the train, has come up as an issue. First off, for you comic book MOVIE fans, Batman has most certainly killed in the comics, as recently as 30 years ago. Secondly, leaving him in the train is nowhere near the same as killing him. Thirdly, the final lines communicated between Batman and Ras are eloquently used, and perfectly placed in the film. Finally, Batman's exit from the train is the best usage of his cape in all of the trilogies, IMO.

THIS portrayal of Rachel is so much better than the Dark Knight's portrayal. THIS one is much more wholesome, grounded and respectful.

The dark knight is the greatest superhero movie of all time

SPOILER ALERT: As a Batman fan, I wholeheartedly disagree. I saw TDK in theaters twice, and then months later, "REALITY" set in. First off, Batman would NEVER take the blame for killing 5 people and go into hiding for 8 years. They could have easily blamed all the murders on the Joker. The fact that they undo it all in TDKR proves that point. Also, I love Ledger, but he just basically played a psychopath wearing face paint. He did not play any Joker from any comic book that I've ever read. The Oscar should've went to RDJ instead of Ledger. Don't get me wrong, I still like TDK, but I place it 3rd in the trilogy, after BB, followed closely by TDKR.

Question: is not saving someone the same as killing them yourself?

No, it isn't, also, stop believing the nonsense that Batman doesn't kill. He most certainly has killed in the comics several times, as recently as 30 years ago. This is mainly a Nolan thing, and a SOMEWHAT newer retcon in the comics.

Yes. Batman doesn't kill. It doesn't matter what a comic 30 years ago did, that's been long retconned. The problem with these realistic Batman films, especially Batman Begins, they focus too much on Batman being a symbol for vengeance, instead of hope. They never focus on Batman rehabilitating villains, his philantrophy work, improving the city by creating mental health homes, etc. It's just vengeance. The people that don't believe he shouldn't kill, or say that he does kill, clearly don't understand the character of Batman. You know what's funny? Superman, The Flash, Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner), etc, all have codes against killing people. So why do people make a big deal when Batman says he doesn't wanna kill? It's hypocrisy. Play that game for all the heroes, not just the one that wears a bat costume. People forget that the villains Batman goes against are mentally ill. Since *when* do you help a mentally ill person by killing them? The responsibility of killing is up to the system, and Batman understands that. He is a vigilante, not jury, judge and executioner, something that people often tend to forget.
