Fun fact about the water animation: When they were animating it, they showed it to the boss, and they were promptly told to do it all over. The reason? It was TOO realistic. They said if the waters too realistic, the audience would mistake it for a documentary, and fall asleep.

So, according to Wikipedia: Glenn McQueen was an animation supervisor at Pixar who worked on Toy Story 2, A Bug's Life and Monsters Inc. Eventually in late 2001 he was diagnosed with a skin cancer known as melanoma, but pressed on, until he succumbed in October 2002 (when Finding Nemo was in production) And like you pointed out, he was likely who Lightning McQueen was named after!

This is my favourite Pixar film! So glad you enjoyed it. Don’t feel bad about getting scared at Bruce’s introduction - I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve seen this film and his entrance still shakes me up every time. My first kiddo turns two this summer. One of the hardest and most rewarding things to do as a parent is “kill the motor” and wait for the child to figure out the problem on their own. It’s so hard because you know you can fix it easily, but so awesome when you see the little one work it out and look at you with the happiest “I did it!” look in their eyes

6:14 Bruce was named after the animatronic shark that frequently failed to work in "Jaws," which is why you don't see the shark very much in the movie. They were going to show it more, but it broke so many times they limited the footage of it, and it ended up being scarier. They named the model shark after Spielberg's lawyer. 8:08 Reference to the "HEEEEERE'S JOHNNY!" scene in "The Shining." 24:11 Musical reference to the infamous shower stabbing scene in "American Psycho."

The closest aquarium to me has got a display in the first hall which deliberately has as many Finding Nemo species as possible- clownfish, blue tang, moorish idol etc. So kids get interested and also learn the proper names.

Now that I have rewatched this movie, I am not surprised that I found it extremely scary. I think it is so scary because you're following a story about a fish who won't be capable of doing anything against anything. All they can do is swim away.
