Having Peter not only be a Celestial-Human hybrid but the son of Ego The Living Planet was a wild yet unique spin on the comics. In the comics Peter is half human and half Spartoi. The Spartoi are a humanoid race (Look just like humans) native to the planet Spartax, capital of the Spartoi Empire. J'son the father of Peter is the Emperor of Spartax making Peter a Prince and the next in line to the throne. This is why he's called Star-Lord, he's space royalty. It's kind of like Games of Thrones but in space, many empires fighting for power. Super excited for Spider-Man: Homecoming. But looking on Disney plus it looks like the Spider-Man films were taken down, Sony still own the movie rights to Spider-Man so that causes some problems. The Spider-Man films were only added to Disney Plus a few years ago, one by one. So it's a shame if these movies were removed. You can find all the Fox Marvel stuff on Disney Plus though so X-Men, Deadpool, Fantastic Four etc.
Ohhh interesting context! It seems like there is SO much to learn about the world we see in Guardians of the Galaxy - I think when I began my MCU journey I probably would've been overwhelmed watching this, but now I just want to keep learning about these places and characters. (The GOT analogy is very helpful as well!) I saw that Spider-Man: Homecoming is still available to me on Disney Plus, but not sure about the other ones yet. Also - I'm going to be getting started with the Fox Marvel movies pretty soon - several of you gave me some super helpful suggestions for how to get started with those, so very excited about that! 😬
As much as I prefer the first Guardians movie, Volume 2 is still great! I especially appreciate how we get to learn more about Yondu and Nebula's motivations, and Mantis is a great addition to the team. As for how the Guardians connect to all the other MCU movies, you don't have much longer to wait to see where they're going with that.
Yes! I LOVED the first one as well, but like you said, it was really interesting to dive into more details about the characters' back stories after getting introduced to them in the first movie. And I can't WAIT to to see how things connect in the (hopefully near) future!
And Guardians of the Galaxy are two for two in movies! I have a hard time deciding if I like Guardians 1 or 2 more. I'm leaning towards 2 just because I really, really like The Chain by Fleetwood Mac. The only thing I don't really like about this movie is how Drax is portrayed. He's a lot more jovial, laughing and guffing it up, I preferred how dry he was in the first movie. I guess it makes sense with how he's gotten his revenge that he would lighten up but I'm still not a big fan. But then again I also really love the scene where he thinks about his daughter and family and Mantis feels his emotions and cries. So I don't know. Speaking of Mantis I think she's a good addition to the team. Another character who's quite different from the comics but still good. Same can be said for Ego as a villain. Kinda wish we got more of Ego in planet form, though. Maybe a few spoken lines? Ego the living planet was always a unique villain in the comics and he was usually just a planet with a big face, so I kinda wish we had gotten more of that visual. Also, speaking of comics, the crystal guy who's second in command to Sylvester Stallone is Martinex, in the comics he was an original member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. I love what they did with Rocket, loved what they did with Gamora and Nebula, really really love what they did with Yondu. "He may have been your father but he wasn't your daddy". The family themes in this movie are really strong, I like it a lot. One of the best MCU films. Top five at least, maybe top three with Guardians 1 and Civil War, at least on my top list.
Ahh yes - I'm also a fan of Fleetwood Mac, so that was awesome. Overall the music in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies make these so much fun for me! When you say Guardians of the Galaxy are two for two, do you mean that this is the last Guardians of the Galaxy movies at the moment? I think I saw something about a holiday special but not sure if there was an actual 3rd volume other than that. I really enjoy these characters, so hoping to see more of them. (I avoid Googling too much about these things in case there are any spoilers out there!) Anyway, thanks for always sharing more context from the comics, I always look forward to your comments on these videos!
@@DailyDaisiesTV No no, I meant two for two as in two successful movies that you have seen so far! Two shots, two hits, something like that. But yeah, there's a third Guardians christmas special and a third movie. They'll be back, don't worry!
I hope you watch the little Groot animated shorts. Not required watching for any of therest of the MCU stories or plots, just fun little 6 minute shenanigans.
Great reaction! Unfortunately you butchered Nebula’s line “You are the one who wanted to win, I just wanted a sister”! And the following exposition. And omitted Yondu’s backstory completely. Which IMHO are the two strongest beats in the film. (Along with Gamora being afraid to admit her love for Quill) But this story is so emotional the only way not to omit something is to play it in its entirety! Keep up the good work!!!’
Thank you SO much for watching with me! I also really appreciate the feedback. I know a number of scenes had to be cut out of this one bc of copyright, which is so unfortunate but yes - this film had so many strong, emotional moments! I can't wait to see more of these characters!
I did! I loooved that scene - it's one of my favorite end credit scenes, probably because I'm just obsessed w/Groot, and seeing the "teenage" version was hilarious - and kind of relatable, lol. Unfortunately many scenes couldn't be included because of copyright issues :/ But thanks so much for watching with me!
Daisy you didn't show Stan Lee in the middle or end, he was talking to some aliens called the Watchers, they don't talk to any other species , except one watcher did, he was the black sheep of the family , he talked to some humans once, which is against the rules, he appeared in the Fantastic Four cartoon from 1967 and warned them about something, he also called Tony Stank, stan lee's character's name is Uatu the Watcher, he normally looks like those other aliens with the bald head, but i guess he can shape shift? i don't know if that is a power they have
Daisy , you didn't show ego say he was a Celestial, they are one of the most powerful beings in marvel comic books, you will meet some others soon, like the Grandmaster, the Collector, Ego was the Gardener, i forget what the other ones are, and you will definitely meet one in the Eternals movie
I love this film, but my one issue is there's no way Ego would've been killed so easily. In the comics, he's nearly on the same level as Galactus. He's a 6 in intelligence, and a 7 in speed, strength, and energy projection. His weakest power set is his fighting ability, which is a two. A seven is the highest number attainable (considered godlike at that level), while 2 is considered "average human." For comparison, Thanos is a 6 in intelligence, durability, and energy projection. He's a 3 in speed, but with his teleporting, he's a 7. His fighting ability is a 4, which means Ego is more powerful.
Dude, there are a million differences between the MCU and the comics. You should have gotten used to that by now. It has even been stated that the MCU is a different universe from the comics
