Even Aubrey Plaza thinks that Abby should have ended up with Riley instead of Parker in the end. I can understand why Harper was reluctant to come out to her ultra Conservative parents, but she repeatedly threw her own girlfriend under the bus to save her own skin.

I do sympathize with Harper because it was hard for me to come out to my family as well but she’s the villain in this movie I’m sorry. Why tf would you invite your girl to your parents’ house who DON’T KNOW YOU’RE GAY?! And then you flirt with your ex boyfriend while ignoring your partner and then get mad that they found an ally in the only queer person in town???? *JAIL*

We need a sequel where Abby realizes she made a mistake and dumps Harper, hooks up with Riley and they go on a Vegas Christmas adventure!

Audrey and Kristen in a movie together alone was all the marketing I needed. I understand Kristen’s character because Christmas sucks when u get to a certain age and it seems like that the one holiday you fight with your family the most. Ps. Kristen’s eyes and body language could make anyone melt.

This movie made my blood boil, because I could absolutely not be with someone who would force me to go back into the closet for any reason. She denied her too many times! I love that her friend tried to come and rescue her🏳️‍🌈🙋🏾‍♀️

Through the end of the movie, I wished it finished with Harper working on herself and being happy in her own identity and Abby ending up in a secure relationship with Riley.

I teared up with Jane at that moment. The struggle for acceptance is REAL 😭😭

The first thing I thought of when I watched this movie when it came out is that I could never go through another relationship like this again. I understand not everyone feels safe coming out, but I cannot spend my time and emotional effort in a relationship where I have to keep track of the lies they make to stay in the closet. The last ex of mine who was in this situation wasn’t even kind enough to tell me the lies ahead of time so I was finding all sorts of stuff out “about” me when her parents would ask me questions about things she told them. I would also never expect anyone to come out for me, I just will not allow myself to be put back into the closet for the sake of a relationship, and I’d rather be single than in a situation like Abby was in this movie.

Thank you. I was so mad the whole entire movie. Still don’t think she redeemed herself enough.

Mackenzie Davis, the actress who plays Harper is also in a lesbian TV movie/ episode of Black Mirror called San Junipero. It's one of the best things I've ever seen, great unexpected unique story, twists and turns, makes you cry, definitely one to put on your list :)

every time I watch one of Zzavid’s videos I feel so much better and happy. I found out recently that the guy I’ve been talking to got back with his ex. I know we never dated, but it still hurts. He even said we’d be an iconic couple and that he’d meet my mom before we’d start dating. But I guess he was talking to her the whole time we were talking, that’s probably why he got back with her so soon. Literally the second time we met he gave me a hickey and the next day I find out he got back with her. I know they have history(they dated for 11 months) I ended up telling my mom about what happened when she saw me crying. She said “he liked you but loved her.” I guess that makes sense. I hope they’re happy together. It was nice while it lasted. Now I just need to take the time to heal so I can be better and happier again.

Zzavid I think you would really like the movie Last night in Soho! It’s like a drama horror and it has flashbacks to 1960’s London with amazing music and fashion, it’s absolutely fabulous.

I think the “surprise, he’s cheating with a chick” moment was supposed to be a “don’t judge a book by its cover” moment. It was hella forced but whatever. Also, there are plenty of men out here having sex with chicks but are still queer as hell or no where near hetero when it comes to the sexual, affection, romantic, emotion spectrum. This is a passable enough movie. But the general conceit and tone is a bit dated. It’s another “gay movie” that feels about 20 years late. Also, whether she was struggling with being out or not, they just made Harper too basic and unlikable and too willing to throw someone she supposedly loves and is committed to under the bus. It was impossible to root for their relationship by the end.
