Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix Movie Description:
Now in his fifth year at Hogwarts, Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) learns that many in the wizarding community do not know the truth of his encounter with Lord Voldemort. Cornelius Fudge, minister of Magic, appoints his toady, Dolores Umbridge, as Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, for he fears that professor Dumbledore will take his job. But her teaching is deficient and her methods, cruel, so Harry prepares a group of students to defend the school against a rising tide of evil.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is a 2007 fantasy film directed by David Yates and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. It is based on J. K. Rowling's 2003 novel of the same name. The fifth instalment in the Harry Potter film series, it was written by Michael Goldenberg (making this the only film in the series not to be scripted by Steve Kloves) and produced by David Heyman and David Barron. The film stars Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, alongside Rupert Grint and Emma Watson as Harry's best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Its story follows Harry's fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as the Ministry of Magic is in denial of Lord Voldemort's return.
The film is the sequel to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and is followed by Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Live-action filming took place in England and Scotland for exterior locations and Leavesden Film Studios in Watford for interior locations from February to November 2006, with a one-month break in June. Post-production on the film continued for several months afterwards to add in visual effects. The film's budget was reportedly between £75 and 100 million ($150-200 million). Warner Bros. released the film in North America on 11 July 2007 and in the United Kingdom on 12 July, both in conventional and IMAX theatres; it is the first Potter film to be released in IMAX 3D.
Order of the Phoenix opened to a worldwide five-day opening of $333 million, twenty-fifth of all-time, and grossed $942 million total, second to Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End for the greatest total of 2007. The film was nominated for two BAFTA Film Awards in 2008. It has been noted as a case of Hollywood accounting, because Warner Bros. claimed the film lost $167 million, despite its total grosses.

Funny note about Dudley from the book (paraphrased): "The gang of boys was large and stupid, and Dudley was the largest and most stupid of them so he was their leader." Plus that old lady Ms Figg was an established muggle for most of the series in the book, being an irritable old lady Harry had to housesit when the Dursleys wanted to do something without him. Your opinion on Dumbledore is exactly how J.K. Rowling wanted it to be. You're feeling Harry's perspective of Dumbledore. When Harry was younger, he felt like Dumbledore was invulnerable and all powerful. But as he gets older, the illusion of his fantasy about him starts to crumble, and he sees him as what he really is, a powerful, but kind and gentle man who is flawed and somewhat broken. It's really an incredible story.
@Afreshio
@Afreshio 2 года назад
This is bs. In the books that duel took place in a chapter called "The Only One He Always Feared". Dumbledore enters, traps all the Death Eater with a movement of his wand, later confronts Voldemort, calls him Tom and his just chill and collected while Voldemort is agitated and angry (so fearful). Dumbledore saw that duel as a walk in the park, while Voldemort was trying his hardest to kill him. Dumbledore didn't want to kill him because at that point he was almost sure about the Horcruxes. He just pities Voldemort. The only time Dumbledore felt fear in this chapter is when Voldemort possessed Harry because he feared for Harry's life, his pupil and his most beloved person in the world.

A few things to be clarified that were in the books, but not the movie: Nymphadora(or Tonks)is a metamorphagus, she can change her appearance at will, though it can be affected by her emotions. They're born though, it can't be taught. She's the niece of Bellatrix Lestrange and her mother was pureblood, but married a muggle man. Harry has to come back to Privet Drive every year, as the place is under the Fidelius Charm(same thing the Potters home was before Pettigrew/Wormtail betrayed them), which protects it and the people inside(as long as your secret keeper isn't a literal rat). As long as Harry has connection to his last blood relative(Aunt Petunia), he's safe there. Dumbledore left him there for a reason, after all. JK Rowling killed off Sirius because it was either that or Mr.Weasley. Because of his half blood status, Umbridge tries to have Hagrid arrested by the ministry(also out of his loyalty to Dumbledore). Hagrid fights his way free, with the spells doing absolutely nothing to him thanks to him being half giant. Unfortunately, McGonagall gets hit by five stunners to the chest and has to be sent to St.Mungo's to recover(which was dumb not to have in the movie, as Harry could have just gone to her instead of using the fireplace to speak to Sirius). When Umbridge takes over as headmistress, Dumbledores office refuses to let her in. The prophesy Trelawney made was about either Harry or Neville(who had their birthday around the same time). However, Voldemort chose the half blood Harry as the person that the prophesy was about, selecting him as his nemesis. Dumbledore goes into the woods alone and brings Umbridge back, with Dumbledore totally untouched. Theres nothing told of what happened to her after the centaurs carried her away, though when Ron makes clip clop noises with his tongue, Umbridge sits upright. She later tries to sneak out of the school without anyone noticing to avoid being scene being removed like the divination teacher, but she runs into Peeves, the school poltergeist(cut out of the movies, unfortunately). Peeves proceeds to chase her out of the school, whacking her over the head alternatively with a walking stick and a sock full of chalk. Professor McGonagall doesn't get to follow the chase because she lended her stick to Peeves. I always love that Dumbledore calls Voldemort his original name, Tom. He's not afraid of the name Voldemort in the slightest, but the thing that makes Voldemort hate it is that it treats him as common, just like everyone else, when he wants to be special, stronger.

24:54 It was never really clarified in the movies, but Neville's parents did not die. Voldemort's followers captured them for questioning after he fell for information & since the Longbottoms were Aurors & members of the first Order of the Phoenix, Death Eaters assumed they'd know what happened to Voldemort. That's the reason Neville was so disturbed when Barty Crouch Jr., posing as professor Moody, used the Cruciatus curse on a spider in class in Goblet of Fire. Neville knew that's the same curse that drove his parents into madness & the worst part is - in the books, along with Bellatrix Lestrange, Barty Crouch Jr. (false Moody) was one of the people torturing his mom & dad. He got Neville to get closer to watch him demonstrating the spell in class knowing it'll affect him. In the Order of the Phoenix book, we actually got to see Alice and Frank Longbottom in the permanent Spell Damage ward of St. Mungo's hospital when Harry & the Weasleys went there to visit Mr. Weasley after he got attacked by Nagini the snake. They survived, but have lost their minds due to horrific torture. Also, in the books, Neville & Harry have much more in common that wasn't even mentioned in the movies. I won't spoil it, in case you'd like to read it yourself one day, unless you say it's fine lol

There's something else really important in Snape's memory, we also meet Lily Evans and see her telling James to leave Snape alone and calling him out for his behaviour, James messes up his hair again and tries to make his voice sound deeper and tries the 'I'll let him down if you say you'll go out with me' that obviously doesn't work, and then the most vital part of the memory happens - meaning Snape suddenly shoots out "I don't need help from filthy little Mudbloods like her!" which of course makes Lily pretty cold 'fine...I won't help you next time' but when James tries to force an apology out of Snape (he hates the word Mudblood and for all his massive faults was never a blood supremacist) lily tells him not to and says that he's just as bad as Snape is. Also throughout the whole scene Peter and Sirius were both encouraging James, Lupin was trying to ignore the situation and read his book but I think he was just staring at the same two pages the whole time - the fact that James and Sirius remained friends with him even after finding out that he was a werewolf meant a lot to him because eh'ed thought they'd shun him or even spill his secret so he tried to look the other way when they picked on other people but couldn't quite do it, and years later still says that he should've tried to stop them. Lily agreed to go out with James in their final year when his head had deflated and he stopped hexing people for the pure heck of it. From what we see of Lily we know that she wouldn't have gone out with James if she hadn't wanted to and that she wouldn't have eventually married him if there wasn't something worth loving there. James Potter was a loyal friend (staying friends with Lupin even after finding out he was a werewolf and taking Sirius in after he'd run away - as we can see he really hated his own family and they hated him right back) and always stood against everything Voldemort and the Death Eaters stood for, but his parents had had him late in life and kind of spoiled him as a result which is why he go the idea that he should be able to get away with everything. By all accounts though he left Hogwarts at 17 a much better person than he was when he entered Hogwarts at 11. He did actually save Snape's life at one point - Snape was trying to figure out what Lupin was up to hoping to get him, Sirius and James expelled, and snuck out of the castle to try and see where Lupin was going. Sirius thought it'd be funny (and years later still said 'would've served him right') to tell him about the root that stops the whomping willow from thrashing it's limbs about and open the passageway to the shrieking shack and that then he'd see what it was, but when he told James even James could tell that that was a joke gone too far and pulled Snape out of the shack before he could get attacked by the transformed Lupin, but Sirius still saw enough to figure out what was going on. Understandably though Snape was furious both that he had been tricked and could've been killed and was, again understandably furious with the fact that its was one of the guys who bullied him who had saved him, so he convinced himself that James was in on it from the start and that "he was trying to save his own skin as much as mine". That's what I remember fit anyhow.
@Threeleebird
@Threeleebird 2 года назад
Lupine didn't interrupt what James and Sirius were doing to Snape, because like them, he didn't care about Snape. It wasn't his problem and he knew nothing he did would stop them. Also, Snape knew his secret so he represented the real danger, as he was reluctantly biting his tongue not to say his secret because Dumbledore forced him, but if it had depended on him he would have said it because he hated him as well as his friends even if Remus never did anything to him. Considering that Why would Remus care about him? By the way, Remus knew James did it because he was jealous of Snape's relationship with Lily. Furthermore, he was confident that his friends weren't going to betray him at least not after they became illegal Animagi. Remus knew his friends well and they could be arrogant and idiotic but he also knew that they weren't traitors or snitches, at least not James and Sirius. He knew they would die for him. Tricked? No. Sirius told him how to get through. He never told him that he would find a baby unicorn under the tree nor did he force him to enter. Snape was no an idiot, he knew he was going to find, he stalked the marauders long enough to know, if Hermione was able to decipher it without seeing it, why couldn't Snape? None of that would have happened, if Snape hadn't meddled in matters that weren't even remotely his. He alone put himself in danger. Snape must have seen the red flag when Sirius easily gave him the key. And if you decide to still blame Sirius for this, remember that Snape would have done the exact same thing in his place if not worse. Snape did acknowledge that James saved his life (I meant Snape's life), according to JK, just not immediately or publicly, much less Harry, James's son. He was never going to accept that, but Dumbledore knew it and so Snape asked him to protect James from Voldemort as well, he needed to return the favor because James was the last person he wanted to owe anything to, even if at first he only asked for lily's life.

First off, what I'm gonna say is not really a spoiler because it's not really revealed in the movies other than this one. But, in the books, you learn that Voldemort brought this on himself, and pretty much made Harry "the chosen one" due to brazen arrogance/stupidity. He got word of the prophecy that a child born in the summer would be he is downfall. There were two possibilities: Harry, and Neville. Voldemort chose to believe the prophecy was about Harry and went after him. He marked Harry, making it a self-fulfilling prophecy, Interestingly, Trelawney made the prophecy, and so to protect her, Dumbledore made her a professor.

I don't agree with the arrogance or stupidity of Voldemort. As you know from time traveling and prophecy in the third chapter, time in this universe is constant. If something was destined to happen, then it would happen. So Voldemort had to choose either Neville or Harry. AND HERE COMES THE INTERESTING PART, since prophecy says that Voldemort must choose his equal ( "the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal,"), Voldemort instead of choosing pure-blooded Neville, chooses half-blood Harry. Which is quite contradicting with his ideology.

10:17 There's a reason for that - we're not supposed to know this till the 6th book, but roughly 50 years ago when Tom Riddle finished his 7th Year at Hogwarts he asked to be given a teaching position there (for a variety of reasons), specifically teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts. Headmaster Dippet suggested that he wait a few years and gain some experience first. Then several years later when several interesting things had happened or started to happen and Tom Riddle had started to lose his looks (not that he required them that much by that stage), he returned and asked the newly appointed Head Master Dumbledore for a teaching job though he didn't mention for which subject. Dumbledore refused. And even though Tom didn't mention which subject he wanted to teach that time, Dumbledore soon realised he'd again meant Defense against the Dark Arts, because since the time of that interview, the school has never been able to keep a Professor for that subject longer than a year for a variety of reasons - Tom jinxed the position.

Another piece of dialogue that describes the mood of Dumbledore: It was foolish to come here tonight, Tom,' *said Dumbledore calmly* More to the case, Dumbledore wasn't even trying to kill Tom: 'You do not seek to kill me, Dumbledore? ' called Voldemort, his scarlet eyes narrowed over the top of the shield. 'Above such brutality, are you?' I think this like here describes even more aptly his state of mind, which is a retort to Voldemort question: We both know that there are other ways of destroying a man, Tom,' Dumbledore said calmly, continuing to walk towards Voldemort *as though he had not a fear in the world, as though nothing had happened to interrupt his stroll up the hall*. 'Merely taking your life would not satisfy me, I admit- Dumbledore only fell fear at one time and is when Voldemort dissappears. Because it is implied he sensed that Harry was in danger, so as Harry felt confident and tries to leave the protection of the golden statue that Dumbledore animated: Stay where you are, Harry! For the first time, Dumbledore sounded frightened. Dumbledore feared since Voldemort rebirth that he would use his connection on Harry, and a possession was in the top of the list of worries. In Movie version they show Dumbledore very less powerful. Here is the book version in short. Please read it “But Master - he is here - he is below -” Voldemort paid no attention. AVADA KEDAVRA!” Harry had not even opened his mouth to resist. His mind was blank, his wand pointing uselessly at the floor. But the headless golden statue of the wizard in the fountain had sprung alive, leaping from its plinth, and landed on the floor with a crash between Harry and Voldemort. The spell merely glanced off its chest as the statue flung out its arms, protecting Harry. “What - ?” said Voldemort, staring around. And then he breathed, “Dumbledore!” Voldemort raised his wand and sent another jet of green light at Dumbledore, who turned and was gone in a whirling of his cloak; next second he had reappeared behind Voldemort and waved his wand toward the remnants of the fountain; the other statues sprang to life too. The statue of the witch ran at Bellatrix, who screamed and sent spells streaming uselessly off its chest, before it dived at her, pin- ning her to the floor. Meanwhile, the goblin and the house-elf scuttled toward the fireplaces set along the wall, and the one-armed centaur galloped at Voldemort, who vanished and reappeared beside the pool. The headless statue thrust Harry backward, away from the fight, as Dumbledore advanced on Voldemort and the golden centaur can- tered around them both. “You do not seek to kill me, Dumbledore?” called Voldemort, his scarlet eyes narrowed over the top of the shield. “Above such brutality, are you?” “We both know that there are other ways of destroying a man, Tom,” Dumbledore said calmly, continuing to walk toward Volde- mort as though he had not a fear in the world, as though nothing had happened to interrupt his stroll up the hall. “Merely taking your life would not satisfy me, I admit -” “There is nothing worse than death, Dumbledore!” snarled Voldemort. “You are quite wrong,” “Indeed, your failure to un- derstand that there are things much worse than death has always been your greatest weakness -” Dumbledore never failed down in book version. Voldemort was nervous entirely while face Dumbledore. Voldemort go inside Harry coz he failed to face Dumbledore.

The Defense Against The Dark Arts class was CURSED by Tom Riddle which is what causes things to happen so nobody can last as the professor since he wanted the job Dumbledore Denied him.

This is my favorite Potter movie. Love the angst Harry goes through and how pissed off he is at everything that’s happening, Umbridge is such a good villain, epic battle between Voldemort and Dumbledore, more Sirius, introduction of Luna and Bellatrix, the most iconic physical appearances of the trio (in my opinion). This one and Prisoner of Azkaban are the two I watch the most.

Yes, definitely a darker tone here. To me it feels like the emotional successor to the 3rd movie. They are great ones for how they actually allow youth to deal with real things, hard things, and try to overcome them. As their circumstances mature, so must they, so do they.

29:00 In the book, both Remus and Sirius assured Harry that his father was no longer the bully that he once was. He matured and changed his ways, or he would never have become Head Boy and his mother would have never agreed to go out with him, let alone fall in love and marry him.

I really like the way you interpret everything in these movies and also that you know the actors, not that people reacting to these should know every single actor but I appreciate that you recognize and know the actors names 🥰

Heyyyyy, fellow Slytherin here. Patronus is a horse ^_^ And yes, Dolores Umbridge is the most loathsome villain I've ever seen (except in FMA Brotherhood)

It’s funny to me that you call Voldemort tom riddle. You’ll notice that dumbledore will call him Voldemort when talking to Harry but when he is talking to him he always calls him Tom. It’s deliberate and a perfect level of petty. He refuses to call him by this evil name he gave himself. It’s amazing.

Sirius subconsciously called Harry by his father's name, James.. and btw Dumbledore turned the glass into sand.
