Even as a child, I was able to recognise the musical genius that is John Powell. Composed some of his best work on the HTTYD series. Probably wouldn't have started writing my own compositions without him and a few others.

While "you're not my son" can be cliche, the fact you can see Stoick STAGGER at what he just said shows he's not just a 2D character.

All 3 movies are worth watching. I was so glad I saw the 1st one in theaters with the 3D. That moment when Hiccup and Toothless bonded and ended up flying through the rock formations was freaking epic and one of the only times I felt like 3D could be something that wasn't just a gimmick but something that could help you immerse yourself in a story.

I really love how quickly you fell in love with the best cat ever - Toothless! For getting a better connection with the characters, you'd need to watch the series - it is very much worth it! Also: at 26:15 you can see how Stoick regrets what he just said - but he does have extremely good reasons for why he reacted that strongly to his son siding with the "enemy" - reasons alluded to in this and clearly shown in the next movie.

I highly recommend Megamind. Such a good movie, peak Dreamworks. The Croods is also a fun film. Rise of the Guardians is a fantastic film. One of those films that sadly didn’t do well enough for a sequel but it’s such a good standalone film that it doesn’t really need one. Trolls is a fun film, catchy music in that one. All the How to Train your Dragon movies are great and worth the watch. 😄

I think it was implied that, while Dragons are intelligent to a degree, enough to understand body language and vocal tone, they're not as intelligent or creative as humans are. The Red/Green Death controlled the dragons by fear. It was larger than all of them, could swallow multiple of them in a single bite, and basically had a natural countermeasure to every kind of dragon in the nest. Hardened hide for Nadder Spikes; a mace tail for Gronkle hides; vacuum breath for Nightmare fire and Zippleback gas; multiple eyes for Night Fury agility; and shear size for Terrors. Without the ingenuity of a human backing them, the dragons couldn't coordinate a multiple-front attack to fight back against the Death. Freeing the Dragons absolutely required cooperation between age-old enemies.

@x_rouxi_ian_x4804 Год назад
A few fun facts and detail people dont usually notice in their first time watching 1 the nightfury name - i noticed most of the dragons like timberjack, typhoomerang, scauldron and other dragons are named after the things/attack that made them memorable. *Example* Timberjack - can slice through trees with no resistance Typhoomerang - can make a typhoon out of fire Scauldron - can blast burning hot water sometimes having poison with it. Nightfury - can blend perfectly in the darkness. have a screech of a person full of fury. The unholy offspring of lightning and death itself title - lightning refers to two of his ability actually, his blast (the title will make more sense in the third movie, you'll see) and his speed and the death refers to the fact no one survived an encounter with a nightfury before I find it interesting they decided to name the dragons with their special technique, not only does this make them terrifying but also heeds a warning to people even if they dont know what the dragon can do, just say typhoomerang and you know it has something to do with a typhoon already. 2 toothless is quite petty but intelligent - we already know about the intelligent part but what people dont notice much is how he made the people who hurt hiccup apologize. Vikings are stubborn and have an ego and pride bigger than their body, apologizing shows a huge vulnerable sincere part of them that toothless wanted to see for proof they do regret the things they did. Basically he was like "i aint gonna do what you want until you apologize* which is a little petty but we love him. 3 hiccups foot - some speculated toothless accidentally ate hiccups foot in a desperate attempt to grab him before the fire did, which ended up having too much force and basically decapitated his foot. which is yikes but also makes kind of sense? Seeing the distance of the fall yeah he could have done that. But then again hiccup did take his fin..so i guess they're equal now. 4 toothless behavior - you'll be happy to know his behavior is actually modeled after a black cat! hence the scratches and catnip (or dragonnip) 5 hiccups full name - its not mentioned until in the series of riders of berk but his full name is "Hiccup Horrendous Haddock The lll" he was named after an ancestor of his. I got a lot more but those include spoilers so ill save them unless you already watched the other movies or made a reaction of it.

I absolutely adore this movie. the sequels are good too, but the first one is really something special. Toothless is very obviously and heavily inspired by cats, but there was this (weirdly good) Christmas special where they referenced one of the animator's cats with tape on their tail to get his movements right. If you manage to find the original footage, it's absolutely hysterical.

Thanks for the fun review! Of all the DreamWorks cartoons listed, I would first of all advise Megamind, The Road to El Dorado, Spirit, The Prince of Egypt and the second Puss in Boots. Believe me, it is head and shoulders above the first (which was okay and most importantly, you don't even have to watch it to understand the second part) and most of the cartoons released in recent years. And of course Rise of the Guardians, they are just beautiful. What about Disney cartoon - Treasure Planet and Atlantis are very cool, I think you will get a lot of pleasure from watching them.

These movies are actually pure gold, some of them might not stand tall as for the concept they have, but they definetely do by the message and quality they delivered. This dragon trilogy is worth the watch and one of the best out there, it's now confirmed it'll be getting a Live action on 2025, which would be cool considering it's very sad ending.

If you want to get to know the characters in this movie better, I 100% recommend the series. Starting with Riders Of Berk then Defenders Of Berk and finally Race to the Edge. You will be able to see in all those seasons how the friendship of Hiccup and Toothless becomes unbreakable, and also the other people who accompany this duo of friends on an adventure with more dragons to discover and new villains. You will fall in love with the show.

A bit of a fun fact: in the books these movies are based on, the vikings didn't fight the dragons. It was a rite of passage for the youths to climb into the dragons' nest and take an egg. They then had to take care of the hatched dragon and train it; so by the time they both grow up there's a tight bond. The reason why Hiccup was the outcast was because his dragonling, which was actually toothless, was the smallest and weakest out of all the hatchlings. Same catlike personality though. Hence why Hiccup needed to train his dragon the smart way, even learning their language (in the books dragons are fully sentient and speaking creatures that have their own langauge as opposed to the movies' "highly intelligent animal" approach).

Fun fact toothless is model after the creator's cat and the part when hiccup put the false tail on toothless was modeled after the cat with tape stuck on its tail. dragon nip is cat nip for dragons and dragon eating fish is like cat eating tuna and every dragon behaviour is model after cat behaviour.

I also very much LOVE How To Train Your Dragon. So I am delighted to see you react to it. I have a bit of a different recommendation when it comes to an "animated" movie for you to watch sometime if you have not seen it. The recommendation is the movie "9". Now I will warn you, if you haven't seen it already, "9" is one of those movies that look to be a kids movie based on its design...but it is rather dark. It's kind of along the same vein as "Coraline" which is another movie I rather enjoyed. In fact I remember getting the 3D version of "Coraline" on DVD when it first came out. Both "9" and "Coraline" are VERY good movies that I can highly recommend. Anyways keep up the awesome content, looking forward to seeing more!

You're not wrong about Toothless being cat-like - they modelled a lot of his behaviours on one of the animators' cats (if I remember correctly) As for recommendations.... How to Train Your Dragon is one of those rare series that seems to improve with the sequels - I highly recommend continuing it. Megamind is absolutely worth it, and I'll be very surprised if you don't enjoy it. Flushed Away is another Aardman movie - 'nuf said. Bee Movie is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Shrek Forever After is a wonderful return to form and should be watched. The Madagascar series gets better as it goes - Madagascar, Europe's Most Wanted is my favourite, and Penguins of Madagascar is a spinoff based around the comedy side-characters that turned out to be an excellent movie in its own right. The Croods and its sequel are both very enjoyable - the first follows a family of cavemen adapting to a new world, and the second builds solidly on the first. Mr Peabody & Sherman is a very enjoyable movie loosely based on the "old timey TV show", and I've watched it several times. Boss Baby is a surprisingly enjoyable story of family, intrigue, and action, and I do think you'd actually enjoy it. The Bad Guys is a heist movie that I promptly re-watched just because of how much I enjoyed it.

7:10 the thing to remember about Hiccup's dad is that he has listening issues when it comes to Hiccup and he's also stubborn. Hiccup had already told his dad that he caught the night fury, and he didn't believe him. Hiccup probably knew that telling him again (especially after the dad had already decided that Hiccup was making it up) would do nothing but make his dad angry.

If you haven't watched them yet, you REALLY need to watch The Prince of Egypt and Spirit. All the Dreamworks movies that were made before Shrek are just gorgeous to look at, and have amazing stories too. In the early days of Dreamworks' existence, they were not just competing with Disney, they were trying to prove their worth by out-doing Disney. Because of that, Dreamworks produced the religious masterpiece that is The Prince of Egypt, (although the story is so very relatable without even focusing on the religious part, as it ultimately comes down to a story of a painful division of two brothers who had grown up very close to each other), and not to be forgotten, they had the guts to do Spirit in a way that Disney had never done a movie, in which the animals do not talk & sing, and such. (There are a few songs in the movie, but they are sung in the background, by the narrator of the story.) I remember reading back in the '90's that Disney had originally intended to do The Lion King as a more serious film in a naturalists' style, without the animals talking, etc., but they changed their minds and the direction of the movie. I was really excited at the time when I heard that Dreamworks was doing Spirit like that, and the movie did not disappoint. I have no use for Dreamworks' recent return to the well, of using Spirit in a modern setting, though. Just stick to the early original movie! Modern Dreamworks animators seems to have long since run out of ideas for original movies.

I can tell you right now, I'm pretty sure you would like Road to El Dorado and Spirit. I bet you would find The Croods hilarious. Rise of the Guardians is clever, beautiful and underrated.
