We begin our journey into the MCU! Let me know what I should watch next in the comments below, and don't forget to follow me on Instagram! / cristyreacts
welcome to the MCU..enjoy the journey..this is Phase 1 with 6 movies..we are currently in Phase 5..but dont rush it..one movie at a time..look out for Stan Lee cameos, stick with the release order, and stay til the end credit scene/s..again..enjoy..
Thanks for the warm welcome to the MCU! Yup, I've already posted reactions to Incredible Hulk and Iron Man 2, and I'm loving the journey so far. Can't wait for those Stan Lee cameos and end-credit scenes. My reaction to Thor is coming out this Thursday, so stay tuned!
I love how you find being bald an absolutely sufficient reason for turning a bad guy 😂 ”Ah crap, I‘m bald… guess I‘m gonna have to become a villain now“
But it starts earlier, when they first start losing their hair... they start becoming more easily irritable and annoyed... then shortly after they start looking for a motive to turn bad... then, when the hair is all gone, that's when they truly embrace the role of villain 😝
Yinsen couldn't shoot at the Enemy because of the Hypocritic Oath to do no harm. "You Mean, The Marvel Cinematic Universe?"... "Just call us the MCU.".
Great reaction! Fun fact: SO MUCH of this movie was essentially improvised. The shoot was kind of chaotic and didn't have a "script" per se, more of an outline, so many of the lines were improvised by Robert Downey Jr. You can really tell during his interactions with Pepper that they're both kind of making it up as they go along. It gives the film a very unique energy.
8:51 something I love about the first design is just how rough it is. I mean, the Mark 1 LOOKS like something built out of spare parts with hand tools. You can even see the nuts and bolts welded in place to hold it together.
Great reaction! Based on this reaction, I think you will love this journey. Especially as the stories start to interconnect. And I think you'll be blown away by where it all goes! Can't wait.
As a DC Comics fan I was when the world got introduced to Marvel heroes. Adding to what you said in the beginning, these heroes were lesser known to the public in spite of their major status in their world from the outside looking in Iron Man would seem like a D or C+ hero but he's actually B+ to A tier hero having been a founding member of a major superhero team called The Avengers. Like I said, as DC fan this made me happy because Iron Man is as comparable to the likes of Batman and such.
@@CristyReacts It's best not compare honestly since there's an obvious difference in aesthethic with their heroes and also with SOME of the fans from both sides being at each other's throats for more than a decade. But that's a story for another time, anyways, I do recommend checking out early DC movies before proceeding to the DCEU to see how the changes in tonality affect perception into a product. As a matter of fact let me help you out regarding that. There are tons of DC movies before the emergence of the DCEU just like how Marvel was before the MCU, but these are the few worth checking out DC movies before the DCEU: Superman (1978)* Superman II (1980)* Superman Returns (2006) Supergirl (1984)* Batman (1989)* Batman Returns (1992)* Batman Forever (1995) Batman & Robin (1997)* Batman Begins (2005) The Dark Knight (2008) The Dark Knight Rises (2012) The New Original Wonder Woman (1975)* Note: Movies I marked with (*) indicate that some notable actors may appear in a DCEU project some may be of importance to the story but others may just be a cameo for nostalgia so keep an eye out. Also "The New Original Wonder Woman" is a made for TV Film which also serves as a pilot episode for the 70s Wonder Woman 3 season series, there's no need to check out the whole series.
Wow, this is super helpful and comprehensive. I really appreciate it! One of the reasons why I'm so interested in watching DCEU it's so I can finally understand the rivalry between the two, and decide for myself. For example, I wouldn't be able to say that I prefer Coke over Pepsi if I had never tried Pepsi and realized it's trash😅@@JaeMinJung.
@@CristyReacts I agree it's a matter of preference and perception at the end of the day but it is also important to note that we respect the other product as well like I for example prefer DC characters over Marvel characters but it don't mean that I entirely dislike Marvel in fact my favorite is Captain America but I just prefer Superman more. On the side note, dang why you gotta do my Pepsi like that? 😭
Back when they made good Marvel movies that were meant to entertain. Tony Stark at the end saying I am Iron Man, one of the coolest badass moments in film imo.
12:07 that type of technology does exist but it's incredibly primitive compared to that because there's only so much you can do with projectors with sensors, they don't work very well at all with it not registering a lot of presses.
9:53 idk if anyone ever answered your question, but: sand doesn’t hold heat well, so even though it’s taking on and throwing off all this heat, once the sun is gone all the tiny particles of sand no longer have their source of heat to throw off and didn’t have enough room in them to have stored any more in the first place! 😊 also GREAT reaction!! ❤
Random fact since you mentioned loving quarter pounders, the chain A&W (Getting their root beer in gallon jugs from a fountain machine was sooo good. Way better tasting than buying in stores) came out with a 1/3 pound burger in the 80's and it was a failure because so many people in the US didn't know basic math, so they thought it was smaller than McDonald's Quarter Pounder.
Oh boy… I started following you with your Star Wars reactions; this looks like you started Marvel even before then! I’m excited to watch you go on this journey as well! Enjoy ❤
Cristy I LOVE your reactions! They are so authentic and well edited where they don’t feel too long and over explained. I also love how little you know about the films going in - that’s the best way to do it! Found you through your Star Wars one, watched your Back To The Future and now starting to watch along with your MCU journey. Also followed you on Insta. Keep up the great work!
Yep. An almost universal comic book convention. The only exception is Professor X. I guess Drax also, but he's not human, maybe his species doesn't have hair to begin with.
Burger King was RDJ's call. He says he loves Burger King, apparently; when he was off the wagon, he ended a bender at a BK and made the choice to get help during that meal. Such a cool element for him to bring to the character.
He thanks BK for making him realize how gross there food was on drugs. He puked it up. Infact how food tasted. Thank BK for getting him back to his real life.😂😢😂
9:57, so fun fact about desserts. They get FUCKING COLD at night. And I'm not just saying that for shits and giggles, FUCKING COLD is the correct way to say it to fully capture just how cold it is. It gets 25°F over there, that's -3.9°C, as in WELL bellow freezing. Also, the bad guys base was in the mountains, so it's even colder there than in the rest of the dessert cause you know altitude.
Over the Years, I've learned the best way to find a Solution is to take a step back... if that doesn't work, take another. It's an old adage, but very accurate... "You can't see the Forest for the Tree's".
Really enjoying going through your videos. Looking forward to your discovery of iconic films. I see you enjoying the MCU. Well long before the MCU back in the 90s, there were actually many movies being made based on comic outside of Marvel and DC. These were often more interesting and edgy kind of comic book movies. Another movie recommendation for you. Based on an independent comic book. “The Crow” (1994)
oooo I don't think I'd heard of The Crow before, I will check it out. What are some of those edgier comic book movies you mentioned? And thank you for watching :)
@@CristyReacts Well “The Crow” is definitely one of those edgy comic book movies. That film is a MUST More than happy to list some off the more interesting, edgy non Marvel, non DC comic book movies. “Sin City” (2005) “Barbarella” (1968) “Hellboy” (2004) “The Mask” (1994) “Dredd” (2012) “Danger Diabolik” (1968) “Heavy Metal” (1981) “Edge of Tomorrow” (2014) “A History of Violence” (2005) “The Rocketeer” (1991) “Oldboy” (2003) subtitled “Kick-Ass” (2010) “Flash Gordon” (1980) “Ghost World” (2001) “Tank Girl” (1995) “Dick Tracy” (1990) “300” (2006) Ask and ye shall receive 😝
Hey Christy! Shout out from the US Marine Corps! I started to watch you with the back to the future series I just found your channel like yesterday and I can't wait to see you watch part three! It's probably the best trilogy in the world except for Star Wars please tell me you've never watched Star Wars and don't know anything about it because I would go into that blind that is probably the best trilogy ever to be made going into blind well anybody would agree with me yes it is. Anyways I'm really happy to see how drunk you are at this point in the movie at 11:06 because honest with you I don't think you would have really got it when you're drunk you just kind of fahqin tell the truth and like feel things how they really are and you know you could just kind of feel that from him and I don't remember the first time I ever watched this movie but I want to start doing movie reactions too it would be so much fun! Anyway so I can't wait to watch the next half of this movie with you and Oh my God when you do back to the future 3 I'll be right there! Keep up the great reactions! So glad You didn't watch the spoiler to back to the future part three at the end of back to the future part 2! So that's going to make it so much more fun to watch back to the future 3 with you! Hope chats all doing well!
Hey thanks for watching! I haven't seen any of the Star Wars so I'm excited to add those to the list. I do like to pour myself a little wine, you'll see it in a lot of movies haha.
That was hilarious. The head shake with the “ girl, I expected so much more from you” then the pan out on the 100 million dollar compound then it’s “well you gotta do what you gotta do” it’s funny to me how quickly our personal morals change when the correct number of $$ are involved😂
Glad that you started watching the MCU just atarted watching your reaction here and it's going to be a roller coaster ride. And first time in your channel
Marvel Studios was non existent in the 1990s. The movie Blade is actually the first project that Marvel Studios was part of but it could not produce the movie. They only worked in conjunction with another film company to get the project out. Sony and Fox had Spiderman and XMen and all those properties which was the bulk of Marvel Entertainment. The Avengers are old school Marvel as back to the 50s and 60s characters.
@@CristyReacts already done, it reminds me to watch the videos! Haha. Would love a shout out on your next MCU reaction that you record! 😇 (Which ever it is)
i wouldn't call Tony Stark necessarily lesser known or lower tier prior to the MCU. He may have not been as popular with people outside of comic fans because he didn't have a popular solo animated show. But he has always been heavily involved with all that goes on in the Marvel comics world. There were just characters that seemed to be in all the major events Marvel and he was certainly one of them. And he was always an original Avenger. So maybe not A list. But he was definitely B+. He just wasn't as marketable as an asset to sell other studios because of the aforementioned factors.
Got it! I didn't mean to diminish Tony's importance in the Marvel world. I just meant that he hadn't had big movies or TV shows about him in recent years so he was less popular outside of the comics fans. Thanks for the info!
Yes, it's less popular or lesser known outside of comics fans. Even if you don't read comics, you know who Superman is and that he's Clark Kent, from Krypton, girlfriend is Lois Lane. It's ingrained in Pop Culture. Outside of comics some people may have HEARD of Iron Man, but didn't know much beyond that. Spider-Man was of course the big Marvel name, and even symbol for the company, and was well known outside of comics readers, thus why he was in demand for outside interests to buy the movie rights to. I would say that Captain America would be big enough to be known outside of comics to some degree, but was probably not considered a hot commodity to buy the rights to would be the really bad movies made of him previously and not really knowing how to do him in a movie. You gotta do the WW2 background, but you can't really stick with that for long, so you've got to move it to modern day either partway through the film or in a sequel, and it could be an easy flop if not done very well. The MCU did it right along with the other movies, but it could easily go wrong. Spider-Man, X-Men, like Batman, are ones that you could still do pretty badly and still make a lot of money.
Please watch in release order. 98% of reviewers honor Stan Lee cameos by pointing him out. You can look up stan Lee picture online to know what he looks like. Welcome to Marvel Universe .................. . . . . NOTICE TO EDITOR............ I bet you edit the reviews with either headphones or earbuds. In doing this you make the reviewer 2-5 times louder than the movie, when you finish. This makes it really difficult to watch and listen without headphones or earbuds. I wish you would go back and watch without headphones or earbuds to understand that not everyone is using them to watch. Just trying to pass on information. It might have more people watching than just clicking off. Because the volume is so far off. Regards Rollerball.
Thanks for the comment! I'm SO excited to be diving into this universe. I just watched Iron Man 2 (video coming this Thursday) and am really enjoying the journey! And I hear you about the movie volume! I'll work on that.
I hope you end up checking out all the spiderman movies! Tobey Maguire’s 3 movies and Andrew Garfield’s 2 films. Also the X Men movies.. believe me it’s all worth it
Most Millionaires probably don't drive their own cars. Tony though buys fast sporty cars and he's going to enjoy driving them fast. Also he prefers to be in control of most circumstances.
18:12 "They're both bald!" Yeah. And that's _so_ unfortunate. Look at the message being sent, here. Are bald men more likely to be _evil?_ Are evil men more likely to be _bald?_ There is _absolutely_ no reason a man should be ashamed of being bald. Several bald men have been known to be _bad_ asses. Look at Nick Fury. Look at Jean-Luc Picard. Look at Will Sawyer. All of them bald, all of them bad asses, and all of them _heroes._ The _best_ response, I think, when a man starts to go bald, is to be _honest_ about it. Don't look for ways to hide it. Don't reach for a toupee or research comb-overs. Hit the _weights._ Because a bald man with muscle _personifies_ virility. And isn't virility what it's all about?
That "proof Tony Stark has a heart" memory box with his origional arc reactor will come into play much much later in the MCU. No spoilers, but just remember it.
13:27 Tony Stark has the heart of an engineer. _That's_ why he keeps designing new suits. I have, more than once, come under the impression that his status as the CEO of Stark Enterprises is just to give him the funding and infrastructure he needs for the _projects_ he keeps coming up with. I think he should be able to improvise a safer, less expensive place to _test_ 'em, though. I mean, look at all these _cars_ behind him. They don't look especially cheap.
Yo, completely off-topic here. I just noticed you got Chuck Palahniuk's "Rant" on your bookshelf. I LOVE that book. "Buckle up folks, Tina Something for DRVR Radio Graphic Traffic reporting.."
Oh damn, nobody has ever noticed my book. I’m a big fan of Palahniuk, which is why I can’t watch Fight Club on the channel. Basically know it by heart. ♥️
Yep I'm a fan of his too, I'm just the opposite on Fight Club. I've seen the movie a dozen times so I don't know if the book is worth it when I know the twist already. Maybe it is
Great Reaction, this is my fav. movie of Iron Man n probably my fav. of all Marvel U. so sad that Terrence Howard left his rol. he was the prfect Rhodes. BTW: Your eyes are..."Outstanding and fFantastics!"
Don't be intimidated, there are breaking points where if you don't like it, it is fine to just drop. For example, if you watch this one and didn't like it, just move on. It sets the ton for many of the movies later, so if you don't like it, then the MCU won't be for you. Similarly, the end of phase 1 is the next great break point. If you watch all the way up to Avengers and aren't really liking it... move on, its ok. My bet is you WILL like it at that point and be in though. But the point is you are not trapped. Don't feel pressured. Much of the technology in this doesn't exist (repulsar tech he uses to fly, Jarvis level AI, etc.) but the screen showing a keyboard he was typing on when you asked is pretty much the same tech you use when you type on your phone. It is just a touch screen interface. It would be more expensive, so most people wouldn't bother, but if you got the money... Great to see another reactor doing this! Got yourself a sub.
Oh shit... this sounds absolutely incredibly powerful. Definitely ordering this next time. I typically order Double QPC and instead of fries I get nuggets. Don't judge me.🙃
@@CristyReacts It is a burger epiphany, to say the least. And only your god can judge you. So, indulge to your heart's content. Life happens just once for all of us.
Tony is not a millionaire. He's not so mundane. He's in the relative handful of people who have more money than many small countries. He's a multi-Billionaire (Billion with a B) The kind of person who has the resources to decide "I don't like that resort, nut it and level it by next week" Iron Man was never a "low popularity" hero. But The X-Men as a group were more valuable to buyers. Likewise Spider-Man was attractive to buyers (Oh, Spider Man has a sordid history of bad productions before Sony made him again a household name) 6:58 "how minds like theirs work" I can not speak for a genius, like Tony, but I see the point I want to reach, I ask myself what I need to reach that point, then ask myself "This is what I have, how close can I get to each of these things I need with this? Okay, I can get #2 and #4 with this stuff, let me start there. Worry about 1, 3, 5 and 6 along the way." Inventiveness is a gift, Engineering is a skill. 10:00 about the temperatures and such. 2 things I will point out. 1. Many deserts get brutally cold at night. 2. There's a cave, the cave is not in the sand. The cave is in a mountain. Temperatures can change dramatically over a mere few thousand feet of altitude. In the state of Colorado, there are cities and towns under 4,000 feet above sea level, and cities well over 9,000 feet above sea level The altitude difference between them is less than a mile (1 mile is 5.280 feet) but the weather conditions are very different, the desert of New Mexico can range from as high as 120F to -50F (these are extremes not the swing of temperature in a single day) 11:30 "Second he's bald" Gee, stereotype much? Profile much? But on the first part... Stark Industries is an international weapons manufacturing powerhouse that focuses on weapons manufacturing as the largest part of its bottom line. It would be like Boeing deciding "We are shutting down our aircraft manufacturing operations" or JP Morgan Chase saying "We are shutting down our financial services operations" out of nowhere. 12:10-12:12 similar technology to that keyboard does exist. Last version I looked into was about 2007, it was cool, but not very functional as it was a laser emitted projection of the keyboard and it wasn't really great at discerning if you hit 6, y or h, vs. n, or h (look at each of those keys on your keyboard You'll find the pattern) It was about $279 back then. I'm sure someone has improved on it since then. 17:50-17:58 "That kills him. That breaks a person in two." Firstly, we have to remember it's a movie, so there's plot armor... Secondly, He's a genius with access to pretty much any material available for making weapons, even those of mass destruction, available in the world. Third, people survive going from mid flight in a jet to slamming into the ground in reality. Referring back to second, he's armor covered, and has presumably put some very high tech cushioning and structural supports into that armor, since it's literally the only thing between him and say, a missile. 20:13-20:18 "Why is his suit way bigger?" It is easy to add function to a device, but keeping it compact requires more advanced knowledge. There's an old saying "I can make it fast, I can make it good and I can make it cheap. Pick 2" The same would apply in the context of "I can make it strong, I can make it efficient, I can make it compact. Pick 2" Tony can say "I'll take all three" in the latter case. Common reference is "Marvel Cinematic Universe" Introduced with a few small parts in this movie. If it never picked up steam, they invested in one post credit scene with Sam Jackson, minor risk given the money they plugged into this movie otherwise. But it did pay off. As I remember a dark arc of Tony's life from the original comics (I was a kid who kind of read them in the late 70s and early 80s, usually could only afford 1 maybe 2 comic books a month, swapped, traded or agreed to borrow and lend with a few other kids), I couldn't trust Russell's character the minute we met him as Obidiah "Obi" Stane. Wasn't sure how much of the arc they were going for, but I knew he was not to be trusted as soon as he was introduced.
@@CristyReacts That's fantastic!... Now I'll have to subscribe and perhaps do Patreon too, especially if you do the Extended editions, only because I own them and don't have access to the theatrical versions. Also, take advantage of their length and do them in parts so you get double the views for each movie. Thanks for replying!
Technically hulk is the first mcu movie and yes it counts has credit ending and all. It is lame they changed actors 3 times but it is all in the same timeline.
Ang Lee's "Hulk" is not canon. The opening of The Incredible Hulk is just so quick because Marvel wrongfully assumed everyone saw "Hulk" beforehand. Marvel Studios did not make Ang Lee's Hulk. And even though Incredible Hulk is Universal rather than Paramount or Disney, Marvel Studios did make it after Iron Man 1.
Es triste que sus trajes en las siguuentes peliculas perdieran calidad porque usaron mas CGI con la excusa de que ahora son de nanotecnología. Y esto no solo le paso a ironman, si no a muchos otros del MCU
I love Batman too! Very different characters though (at least their movie versions) Tony is so quippy while Bruce is very moody. I watched The Batman (2022) recently and will be posting my reaction later down the line!
It sounds as though youve done all your research, including the politics of marvel comics. Although IRON MAN wasnt one of their more popular characters, he was very big among female fans, as a character apparently, probably the mothering instinct, & of course him being a Billionaire, like Elon Musk (although he was based upon the 1940s real life inventor Howard Hughs)
Am I the only one noticing her gorgeous blue eyes 😍 and she finished a bottle of vino too😅....anyway... great reactions on this movie Cristy.. welcome to the mcu saga .. bald=evil.. assessment 😆.. micky D's QPC are good..I cannot stay away from their fries..no judgment here..
Actually Stanes actions were arguably proper. Stark International is a publicly owned company, so Tony has a fiduciary responsibility to the stockholders. Unilaterally stopping weapon manufacturing, means broken contracts, if nothing else, and the stock prices dropped like a rock. Tony, despite his motivations, was wrecking the company. Stane was protecting the stockholders. In fact, up to a certain point you could argue that Stane wasn't a villain. He was sick of doing all the drudge work of carrying the irresponsible, drunken playboy. Fun Fact: the engineer Stane yelled at about the first suit in a cave was non other than Peter Billingsly of A Christmas Story fame.
Your whole argument is meaningless because Stane tried to have Tony killed BEFORE all that. Stane wasn't protecting the company. He was protecting his own self-interest. Sure Tony was a man-child beforehand. You don't protect a company by killing its owner/ceo. No matter how immature and irresponsible he may be. You get him voted out or you take your losses and leave yourself. And yes his decision did temporarily wreck the company. That was acknowledged. Again, vote him out, fire him, or jump off the sinking ship. Stane's solution was to continue manufacturing weapons and continue to sell them to terrorists. Stane was 100% a villain.
Hello 😆. I think once you get to The Avengers and Iron Man 3, you should give Agents of Shield a try. It's a bit long but it's awesome and amazing MCU series. The 1st.
