Although you're right about the two other Spiderman series of films (5 films) not being in the MCU, you nevertheless HAVE to start watching them (if you haven't seen them) in parallel with the next few films (maybe alternate between the 5 films and the MCU movies for a while) for reasons I won't disclose to you right now. Trust us, it will be worth it. :)

Meh. The need to see them is overstated. That being said, it’s great for channel views so a good idea in that respect.

@@maxducoudray. Duh! Spoiler alert⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ What Daniel is talking about is the Maguire and Garfield Spider-Man’s in “No Way Home”. That’s why they are required prerequisites. Not watching them wound be like watching a parody movie like “Scary Movie” without first watching “Scream”, “I Know What You Did Last Summer” etc…..! You don’t getting any of the jokes and references.

Vulture was actually Peter's "first" Supervillain appearing in *Amazing Spider-Man #2* (February, 1963) the 2nd Spider-Man comic if you don't count Amazing Fantasy #15 the first appearance of Spider-Man. Spider-Man's first villain was Chameleon who overtime has become a massive villain but at the time he wouldn't of been classed as a Supervillain so that's why Vulture is seen as his first. So them using Vulture as Peter's first real MCU villain is a fun nod back to the comics. Vulture was also meant to be the villain in the cancelled Spider-Man 4 starring Tobey Maguire. Would've been a very dark storyline fitting with this more mature and older Spider-Man in his early 20s but of course the film was cancelled and we had to wait 9 years to see Vulture in live action.

Yes. And there were other villains here. The Shocker is a minor recurring Spiderman villain with a weapon that makes a vibration "shockwave" that can be used to knock people out and break through bank vault doors, etc. The techie guy working for Toomes was The Tinkerer (or "The Terrible Tinkerer") who makes various gadgets to commit crimes with - and he's one of the earliest Spiderman villains. Also that other guy, Mac Gargan, the one we see talking to Toomes in prison at the end, with a tattoo of a scorpion, will presumably eventually become The Scorpion, another classic Spiderman villain, with powers similar to Spiderman, but, you know, a scorpion instead of a spider. And the guy Spidey "interrogates" is Aaron Davis, who is The Prowler in the main comic-book universe, but might not be in the MCU. Remember, these are just things from the comics, any of which might be very different in the MCU. And Mr, Delmar, the deli owner, eventually becomes one of the most powerful supervillains ever: The Deli Owner! I'm pretty sure I made that last one up.

Spider-Man can lift 10 tons (Remember when Bucky punched him with the metal arm, Peter caught it easily), is very smart (he invented his webbing and the web shooters), and has a “spidey sense” that alerts him to danger. It’s very difficult to fight him when he’s tuned into his senses.

100% on the legal side involving the rights of Spider-Man. Sony picked up the movie rights of Spider-Man in 1999 I want to say. This gave birth to the Sony Spider-Man media we've been seeing since Spider-Man (2002) all the way to Across the Spider-Verse (2023) this year. The whole 2000s series of Marvel films (X-Men, Daredevil, Spider-Man, F4 etc.) were divided across differant studies with X-Men and F4 being owned by Fox, Hulk being owned by Universal, and of course Spider-Man being owned by Sony. This made it difficult for these IPs to cross over or reference each other as both parties would have to agree so it was never a connected universe of movies officially. But this didn't stop people from trying. A great example would be the planned cameo of Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine in the first Spider-Man film, connecting Fox's X-Men to Sony's Spider-Man. When the MCU came around in 2008 Marvel actually tired to connect the other Marvel movies to it by having Nick Fury reference Mutants and Radioactive Bug Bits in a deleted Iron Man 1 scene, nod to X-Men and Spider-Man. They also tried to get Hugh Jackman to cameo as Wolverine in The First Avenger showcasing him alongside Captain America during WW2. Fox were releasing X-Men movies alongside the MCU so it was only nature to try to connect them together. And onto Spider-Man they actually tired to connected The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) to the MCU by hoping to add Oscorp Tower to the backdrop of The Avengers (2012) using the same Oscorp Tower from the first Amazing Spider-Man film releasing the same year. Then with Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) Marvel came to Sony with the idea of adding Avengers Tower to the New York Skyline connecting Andrew's Spider-Man to the MCU. These never happened and with Amazing Spider-Man 2 not doing so well Kevin made a deal with Sony with hopes of allowing a new Spider-Man in the MCU. And thus Tom Holland Spider-Man was born in Civil War followed by a series of Sony and Marvel Studio team up movies . If Andrew Garfield was the MCU Spider-Man then we would've had an older College Peter Parker in Civil War, closer to the comics in terms of Spider-Mans age during Civil War comic. If Jackman cameoed as Wolverine then we would most likely have alot more X-Men related cameos in future movies and who knows maybe we'd see X-Men taking part in massive crossover films with The Avengers. Pretty much the MCU would be very differant to what we see today.
@aaronbeatdown
@aaronbeatdown 9 месяцев назад
Just wanted to add that while some of these rights other companies had expired and returned to Marvel or were bought like the X-Men Universe, we're unlikely to see Sony surrender the rights to Spider-Man anytime soon. They'd probably have to be desperate to make any sort of deal like that. Imagine if Disney was in a rough place at some point and had to sell off Mickey Mouse. The person that bought it would never want to get rid of it because it's basically a license to print money.

MJ AKA Mary Jane Watson is Spider-Man greatest love in the comic books. MJ in the MCU is named Michelle Jones Watson she is a mixture of the original Mary Jane and another character Spider-Man dated Angelica Jones who is a mutant called Firestar. Some of people Peter dated just love Peter Parker then there are some who just in love with Spider-Man MJ is one of the few characters who love them both.

A spider could conceivably carry 173 times its body weight. Since Peter was bitten by a radioactive spider and was given the agility and proportionate strength of an arachnid (spider) from that bite, you can see how Peter would have super strength.

To answer your question on why Peter lives with Aunt May as the films never really explore his parents. *Mainline Continuity* Peter's parents within the Mainline Marvel Continuity (Earth-616) were spies for the Central Intelligence Agency, Richard Parker himself was recruited by Nick Fury. At the CIA Richard met Mary Fitzpatrick who would later become his wife with the two of them having a son called Peter Parker. While Peter was only an infant Richard and Mary were set undercover to infiltrate an Algerian based spy ring under the control of Red Skull who later discovered the Richard and Mary were double agents. Red Skull had them both killed in a place crash above the sea while Peter stayed at Uncle Ben and Aunt Mays house who later adopted Peter as there own and raised him from childhood. *Ultimate Universe* The Ultimate Universe (Earth-1610) a modernized and re-imagined new Continuity starting with Ultimate Spider-Man set in the year 2000 featuring a 15 year old Peter Parker. in the Ultimate Universe Richard Parker was a Doctor who excelled in bio-engineering studies. He then married fellow scientist Mary Fitzpatrick and she got pregnant with Parker Parker. During the time Mary was pregnant Nick Fury gathered a think tank of bio-engineers with hopes of recreating the Super-Soldier Serum that was used to create Captain America over six decades before this new S.H.I.E.L.D funded project. Richard Parker was one of the chosen bio-engineers along with Hank Pym the original Antman, Franklin Storm the father of Susan and Johnny Storm of the future Fantastic Four and finally Bruce Banner who of course would become The Hulk. Peter Parker was born not long into this project but during one of the stages of the project both Richard and Mary would be heavily wounded when Bruce Banner self-experimented on himself by injecting himself with a failed version of the Super-Soldier Serum turning him into the Hulk. Both recovered and when Peter was still young Richard started working on something called Project Venom along with his friend Eddie Brock Senior. But the two were not able to finish the project seeking partnership and resources they went to Trask Enterprises for help (Trask is heavily connected to The X-Men) and this worked but Richard regretted this team up as Trask would interfere with the project and even take the project away from them leading to Peter, Eddie and Mary fighting over rights to the project in Court. In the end Trask had their plane sabotaged resulting in their death. And just like the Mainline Continuity Peter was raised by Ben and May Parker and would later become Spider-Man with Project Venom coming back up again when Peter discovered the project. *MCU* For the MCU we have zero information about Peter's Parents, even Uncle Ben is kind of overlooked as we never got an origin story for this Spider-Man. The MCU is like a mix of Earth-616 and the Ultimate Universe so it could be a mix of both of these origins. Shouldn't matter too much though as his parents are rarely explored. In the Spider-Man PS4 game set within it's own universe Peter mentions that his parents were agents and that he knew but I can't think of any other media where his parents are explored.

I hope they never explain his parents, because they don't need to. I'm personally not a fan of either backstories.

Fun facts: Peter's science teacher is the intern that Bruce Banner bribed with a pizza to get access to the college computer lab. It's the same actor playing the same character. The high school principal is related to one of Captain America's Howling Commandos from Captain America: the first Avenger. Marvel has the same actor playing both roles. And the Flash is a DC character, but back when Spider-Man was created Flash was a pretty common nickname. You usually got that nickname for either quick thinking or having fast reflexes. That's how Flash Gordon got his name (and that Flash isn't even Marvel or DC) And finally this movie was shot as an homage to the John Hughes high school movies from the Eighties. So if you liked this movie, you might like those films. If you haven't seen them, that is.

Yes, you are correct in assuming that the previous Spider-Man movies are not MCU related. However, I would highly recommend working them in your watch schedule before watching the 3rd MCU Spider-Man movie. Also, it's good to see the differences between the different iterations. You know, I actually just saw an article about spiders migrating across the U.S. by "flying." They're not actually flying but really using their webs to glide/float. Very interesting. Anyway, I loved your reaction and I'm glad you enjoyed Spider-Man: Homecoming 🕷🕸

Peter lives with his aunt because his parents died when he was young. That's the short answer anyway, but the story of Peter's parents gets a lot more complicated and convoluted than that in the comics. I doubt the movies will ever address his parents' history though, so it's enough to just know that they died. The villain's name is The Vulture, but the only time they use the name in the movie is at the end when Spidey's note refers to him as the Vulture guy.

Never heard of a flying spider. But I’ve heard of floating ones. Some spider breeds [or just one], when they are hatched, will spin a tiny parachute like web. They will “catch” the wind with it and float away. I don’t think they use it alter that. Others will use them to get places as adults whenever they feel the need.

To put into perspective how strong Spider Man is: During the movie, when the rubble from the building fell on Peter. The rubble itself is estimated to have weighed around 163 tons, which is equivalent to 326,000 pounds. Just 1 of those tons is 2000 pounds. Somehow Peter was able to survive this and woke up without any fatal injuries. Not only that, but he also managed to lift up those two giant cinder blocks with two giant industrial fans on top of them and pushed them completely off of him. The weight that he would have to lift is estimated to be around 9.5 tons, or 19,000 pounds. The most weight that a regular human has ever did for an overhead press is 602 pounds. Based on the movies, the most that Captain America was able to overhead press is 800 pounds. This would mean that Spider Man is 23.75 times stronger than Captain America. This is one of the reasons why Tony Stark recruited him for the battle in Captain America Civil War and why Tony wanted to make him an Avenger. Tony doesn't just admire Peter for his strength, but also for his heart. This is why Spider Man is argued to be one of the strongest super heroes in terms of sheer strength and will power.

This Spider Man is still inexperienced, but since he tends to pull his punches, even his enemies usually don't realize that he could rip their heads right off if he wanted to. Thor, Hulk, and Namor are stronger than him, but few others are.
@neospock5034
@neospock5034 9 месяцев назад
Yes he's still very young and inexperienced in the MCU and yes he pulls his punches a lot. Spider-Man has historically fought mostly street-level opponents- normal human muggers, bank robbers etc. And many of his regular villains aren't overly powerful, they're fairly low-level superhuman, scientists whose experiments went wrong or someone with a piece of advanced tech. So Spider-Man is usually holding back to avoid accidentally killing someone. However, Spider-Man isn't anywhere close to being the strongest Marvel character. LOTS of other Marvel characters are stronger than him. Back in the 1963 there were only 4 other characters stronger than Spider-Man... Thor, Hulk, Namor and the Thing. And many people mistakenly believe that's still true today. But it's not... Spider-Man hasn't been borderline top 5 in strength since the 1960s. Over the past 6 decades Marvel has introduced many heroes and villains physically stronger than him. Characters like Hercules, Wonder Man, Doc Samson, Vision, Valkyrie, Black Bolt, Thundra, She-Hulk, Colossus, Sasquatch, Gilgamesh, Ikaris, Hyperion, Beta Ray Bill etc. Even the average Asgardian (not even heroes like Heimdall, Valkyrie, Sif and the Warriors 3 but the average citizen) is over twice as strong as Spider-Man. Spidey is much stronger than he looks, and because he mostly fights street-level foes, people don't realize how powerful he is. They think of him as being around the same power level as other street level heroes, but he's not. He has strength, speed and agility way above super-soldiers like Cap and Bucky. Plus he's got his spider-sense and webs, and he's a science genius, especially in chemistry (he created the formula for his web fluid). But on pure strength while he's legit superhuman, he's not top tier.

The scene where Peter lifts the rubble is from a story arc called "If This Be My Destiny" (Amazing Spider-Man 31-33). Reader's Digest version: Peter is starting college, dealing with a new villain, and Aunt May is dealing with a life-threatening disease. The villain captures May and trespass traps Spider-Man under tons of rubble. He starts thinking about Msy, Uncle Ben, and his friends, which gives him the strength to lift the pile off of him. This is the first proof of his strength.

Some fans make blanket statements like "Spider-Man is one of the most powerful superheroes of all" which isn't really true. In a certain context it is, but people frequently forget or simply don't know the context. In terms of raw power Spider-Man has never been a powerhouse on the level of Thor, Hulk, Juggernaut, Sentry, Silver Surfer etc. But he's much stronger than people expect given his small/skinny frame. He just looks scrawny, especially as a teenager. But Spidey is legit superhuman, in the movies he's 3-5 times stronger than brawny super-soldier types like Captain America and Bucky. In the comics he's over 20X stronger. And since he mostly fights street-level criminals like regular muggers/robbers and scientists whose experiments got out of control, Spider-Man is always pulling his punches to avoid accidentally killing someone. In the early 1960s Stan Lee said Spider-Man was actually one of Marvel's strongest characters- which was true at the time. Back then, there weren't many superheroes yet. Spider-Man was the 6th-strongest one after Hulk, Thor, Hercules, Namor and The Thing. But that was 60 years ago... since then, Marvel has introduced dozens and dozens of character who were physically way stronger than Spider-Man. Even by the 1980s Spider-Man was no longer among Marvel's 20 physically strongest characters, too many other big hitters had been introduced. But Spider-Man was (and still is) one of the most formidable superheroes, with a unique combination of abilities few characters can match. For around 50 years Spider-Man's official strength (according to Marvel) was 10 ton class, meaning he could lift that much overhead. But he frequently lifted more in crisis situations when his adrenaline was flowing. That's what Spider-Man became known for- being the guy who could exceed his limits when the stakes were high and chips were down. In addition to his strength, Spider-Man has incredible speed and agility. His Spider-sense alerts him to danger in advance, making it almost impossible for opponents to hit him. Plus he's got his webs and ability to stick to walls. He's just the total package- lots of characters are stronger but they're much slower and less agile. Characters who are faster than Spidey have only a fraction of his strength. Plus Peter Parker is a genius- especially when it comes to chemistry. He's one of Marvel's 10 smartest characters. All of those things combined are why Spider-Man is so hard to beat.

Yes ! I love that you called out the Ramones, Cristy. They are my favorite band and there are a lot of parallels between them and Spider Man, which is why they often reference each other (the Ramones covered the classic Spider Man theme song in 1995, and Andrew Garfield Spider Man had a Ramones poster in his room). Like Spider Man, the Ramones are from Queens, NY. And like Spider Man, they were underdogs. A group of misfits who never had a proper top 40 hit, had a lot of personal problems, but they kept on trying their best. Just like Spidey. They used humor to deal with the fact that they were outcasts, just like Spider Man with his quips. Lovable losers always trying their best. Your friendly neighborhood punk rockers. Hey ho! Let's go!

First The Flash is a super hero from D.C. comics like Superman and Batman. Also I don't worry if you do not know everything about comic books, because the MCU doesn't follow the comic books very strictly.. Spider-Man has many of the attributes of a spider, which can lift things more than 170 times its weight. If you extend that to Spider-Man he should be able to lift about14 tons. My favorite thing from this movie is the main villain is Michael Keaton, who also played Batman in 1989. I still enjoy your reactions. Thank you for more fun.

This movie is actually only about 4 to 5 years after the first avengers. The first avengers is 2012 and this is just a couple of months after civil war which was 2016. Whoever was in charge of making this movie screwed up the timeline big time

Cristy - listen to the comments. Start making your way through the first Spider-Man series asap (i.e. the Tobey Maguire series) as you're continuing your way through the MCU and you'll get a way better appreciation of Peter's backstory, and then watch the Amazing Spider-Man (i.e. Andrew Garfield) movies, which was a reboot. You have plenty of time, just make sure you get through them before you get to the third MCU Spider-Man movie (No Way Home), which comes a few movies after Avengers: Endgame. 👍🏼

Since this is technically third stand alone Spider-Man movie and his origin was pretty well known by most comic book and movie fans by this point, they never really show how Peter got bitten by the radioactive spider and the early days of his career as everyone's favorite web head. I won't say much more, but you really should check out the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield movies at some point... maybe after Infinity War and Endgame. Just a suggestion.

The Tobey maguire and Andrew Garfield Spiderman movies by themselves are amazing movies! That being said, you should probably squeeze them into your Marvel movie reactions sooner rather than later. Trust me on this. Also, you should follow that up with the X-men movies and the spin-off Wolverine movies as well. Let's just say you'll have more of an understanding and appreciation of things to come. Side note question: Do you ever think you'll watch any of the Marvel TV shows any time soon? Thanks! And keep the reactions coming, I really enjoy them.

Another great reaction, Cristy! I’m glad you’re loving the MCU. You still have a ton of fun and exciting stuff coming up. Your new office/studio looks great. Will we still get an occasional cameo from Joey and Phoebe? ❤

If it was Peter Parker vs. Bucky, or Cap in an arm wrestling match, my money's on Parker. A one on one fight, WITHOUT his spider sense Cap and Bucky just because they know how to fight well.

It’s not that Spider-Man is “the most powerful”. That would better describe some other characters in the MCU. It’s just that Spidey is super strong (he can lift around 10 tons) nowhere near as much as Hulk and Thor, though. And his agility, speed and spider-sense make him so formidable in a fight.

32:44 He lives with his Aunt May because his parents are no longer living. I strongly suggest that you watch the other Spiderman movies (3 with Tobey Maguire and 2 with Andrew Garfield) they have more of an original story...plus, without trying to spoil anything, watching them just MIGHT be important to future MCU films.

The agreement with Sony was all because of the relationship between Kevin Fegie at Marvel and Amy Pascal at Sony. They saw the benefit of incorporating Spiderman into the MCU so Disney and Sony agreed on certain uses for the character. Sony is still producing Spiderman content to keep the rights for making Spiderman movies but sooner or later the rights will go back to Marvel or be bought out by someone again. So for now it is just an agreement to mutually benefit. The Toby McGuire and Andrew Garfield are only Sony produced but you should watching them before you finish the MCU Spiderman movies or at least get an idea of what happens in them. The stories end up helping the MCU Spiderman make sense in the end. The Tom Holland Spiderman story is not like the comics at all. In the comics Spiderman hates Tony Stark most of the time. Tony Stark is a major jerk in the comics but they went a different direction in the MCU. RDJ and Favreau had creative control over the Stark character and took it in a different direction. This completely changed how Spiderman is in the MCU as compared to the comic history. Yes Spiderman is one of the most powerful comic characters in Marvel but he holds back. He is not on the level of Hulk in the comics but initially he could stand toe to toe with Hulk until they went crazy with the Hulk power levels in the 1990s.

Your patrons should've made you watch the 3 Tobey Maguire and the 2 Andrew Garfield Spiderman movies first-- although you gave hints that you MAY have seen at least the original Tobey Maguire version, being familiar with MJ and the upside-down kiss. But I guess not. I would recommend interspersing those 5 movies as you move on with MCU.

Don't take Tony saying Cap could beat Spider-Man in a fight to heart. Peter could absolutely wreck Captain America if he wanted to, so far the only Avengers you've seen that are stronger and more durable then Peter is Thor and Hulk. Captain America does not have super powers he is just max human potential basically the strongest fastest most agile ect the human body could possibly become. Peter has actual super powers, he has super strength agility speed senses ect. He has completely beaten Captain America in the comics. Peter pulls his punches because he doesn't want to kill anyone, if he didn't when he punched someone even Captain America their heads/bodies would literally explode.

Yes, The Flash is DC, not Marvel. I would definitely not list Spider Man as one of the most powerful overall heroes, but he is considerably stronger, faster and more nimble than Captain America,, Hulk or Thor could crush him. Tony in his first Iron Man suit after returning from the cave (The one that he was hit by a fighter jet in) would be able to manage Spider Man pretty effectively as well. 39:28 are you speaking of cuticles? So I know I'm late to the party but basically watching No Way Home without knowing Tobey Maguire's and Andrew Garfield's movies would be such a waste. It would totally ruin the experience, since she won't understand the references and won't be able to appreciate like 90% of it. No Way Home is practically a tribute to the Tobey and Andrew's movies... I really hope someone told her that.

I hope you make time to watch/read Spider Man (even if you don’t make the reaction content) be that a 107 facts or Variant Comics videos so you get where the comments of the most powerful superhero come from. Spider Man is much more than what was shown in this movie. You need to know about uncle Ben and why Peter lives with aunt May.

1) This movie is an understated masterpiece because it is the first in a series yet it feels like you've know these characters forever. Disney's execution of the MCU is breathtaking. 2) Cristy has more personality in her pinky finger's cuticle than most people have in their entire brain. The editing of this video was also hilarious. Watching the five live-action Sony Spiderman series would add a *lot* to watching Spiderman No way Home (which is most definitely part of the MCU) but not really vital. You just need to know what the other two Spider-man actors looked like. That said, the Sony movies - especially the first two with Toby Maguire - are definitely worth watching on their own. They are considered classics and for good reasons. The other three, not so much. You might want to see the ending of the second Andrew Garfield to get why his acting is so poignant in No Way Home, but otherwise really no big deal if you do not want to invest the time in watching all five movies first.
