Q: Why is the video in TWO Parts?
A: Copyright reasons. I can show more of the movie to you guys within multiple parts. Depending on the movie I might do THREE parts or sometimes just ONE.
Q: Why is a small portion of the video completely muted?
A: Copyright reasons. Sometimes I get hit with copyright claims AFTER the video has already been posted, my only choice is to refute the claim but if RU-vid denies it, I have to either take down the video or mute the small portion they are claiming. If the video has been up for a while, it is much easier for me to mute this small portion in the YT studio and then unmute it months later after people aren't watching the video as much.
Q: Why is the movie not as loud as I want it to be, why can't you show more of it uncut?
A: Copyright reasons. Notice a pattern here? Most of your questions will likely be answered with some type of copyright related reason.
Q: Why is the movie footage flipped?
A: Again, copyright reasons. I am watching the movie the normal way, it is only flipped for the video.

Exactly. It's strange how in cinema directors get more credit than screenwriters and here in Brazil it's the opposite with telenovelas, the author is the star and directors almost are not recognized. Both should have the same importance.

Horror enthusiast definitely know of and respect Kevin Williamson. He was a 90’s God {that might just be showing my age 😂} but I think he also wrote I know what you did last summer, the first draft of H2O, The Faculty, Scream 2, Teaching Mrs Tingle, and of course Dawson’s Creek 😂

The fact that Drew Barrymore (Casey) dies right in the beginning was a huge move for horror. You'll notice they placed her in the forefront on the cover of the movie to make it seem like she may be the final girl because in the '90s Drew was in every big teen movie.

I wasn't expecting her to die within the first 12 minutes of the film. Nobody in the english speaking world wasn't expecting it at all but it was a very bold marketing strategy. I still think her getting killed really early in this film is still a batshit crazy way to start a horror film.

The janitor Fred was played by Craven himself. Another fun fact: The scene where Stu is hit by the phone wasn't part of the script. His reaction to getting hit was genuine.

The actor who did "the voice" spoke through a microphone live to them on the phones, but he was never seen by the cast. They always stashed him in a different room. The cast said it was unnerving that they never saw him, which was the intention.

As much as I admire Wes Craven, I feel like he gets too much credit for this movie. This movie is Kevin Williamson's (screenwriter) baby and the script reeks of his hand. He is the one that wrote the characters, dialogue, kills, ect. He went on to write I Know What You Did Last Summer and create Dawson's Creek and Vampire Diaries. He continued to write the rest of this series besides Scream 3 which is definitely the odd man out. Kudos to Kevin!!

This movie was a game changer and completely revitalised the horror genre when it came out. I remember seeing it at the cinema and was blown away by it. As a massive horror fan I was craving something decent as the horror genre had been pretty dead for years, and then this came along and completely revamped it. You have to do the sequels, they are superb! The third is the weakest but still a damn fun time.

The opening alone is probably the best opening to a movie I have ever seen: Wes’s directing, Williamson’s writing, Jackson’s creepy voice, and Drew Barrymore giving it her all. Just can’t be beat! Such an iconic film and truly a love letter to horror films while being a good one itself! “These days you gotta have a sequel!” And the Sequels are all so freaking good! My favorite SCREAM is part 2! Can’t wait for your reactions!

Also, at the time she was the biggest actress in the movie and she was advertised as the star (and likely the "final girl"), so it was a huge shock they killed her first.

@@1bwash exactly!! When I first watched it, I fully believed she was the lead character! It was so smart of a Barrymore knowing her stardom and picking the role of Casey as it was subvert everyone’s expectations. And the way it is shot, written, edited, and acted out it is so real and depressing and truly one of the hardest things to sit through.

If you liked this movie then you should definitely react to the sequels. Scream 2 holds up to it’s predecessor well. 3 is considered the weakest by fans but I still think it’s solid.

One of the many reason this movie worked so well besides the obvious storytelling and acting is the fact it could take advantage of it being in the 90s. Schools didn’t have more than like one security officer, cell phones were pretty new and not many people had them, the party reminds me of 90s early 2000 last day of school parties and the ultimate deadly weapon...freaking heavy ass tube TVs😂😂😂. Every time I watch the Scream series it makes me happy that this is where Courtney and David fell in love and ultimately married for 11 years. I know they’re no longer together but they still have a good relationship and great co-parents.

As a kid who was in grade school in the late 90's/early 00's, i can confirm the security was laughably nonexistent. If I remember correctly all we really had was 1 police car directing traffic, and the school principles for elementary and high school were on guard. That was for grades K-6 though, the high schoolers were just fucked lol.

I'm not a big horror fan but I love the Scream franchise, and I think it's largely because it has that who-dun-it aspect to it. Knowing that it's a character we already know in the story makes it interesting to me, a bit like Clue

The 2nd one is phenomenal just like the first, and is my second fav horror movie of all time (after the 1st). The third was a really fun watch but it was too comedic and kinda went off the rails. The fourth was a really fun watch and had pretty good and gory kills, but nothing compared to the first. But it’s some people’s fav out of the franchise so it’s really a matter of opinion.

I'm at the part of the video where you said you wondered what the purpose of killing the principal was, so I'm here with an answer! They realized, when going through the script, that there's no murder between Steven and Casey's deaths and Tatum's death at the party, and it made the action feel stale in the midpoint of the movie because of it. Also, killing the principle and stringing him up on the goalposts later gives a reason for the extras at the party to leave the party, which then makes it easier for Billy and Stu to start attacking everyone else and picking them off. You may have already come to this conclusion but I'm not that far yet; love the video so far! I'm enjoying your predictions and can't wait to see your reactions to the sequels!

Thank you! And yeah I kinda knew why it made sense from a story perspective to have them kill the principal but I was questioning from the perspective of the killers motivations themselves. But it kinda was made clear that they were pretty crazy and I'm not doubting that they'd wanna just kill the principal for fun at that point.

@@MovieFusion definitely, it wouldn't surprise me if one of them was holding a grudge of some sort or, like you said, they thought it'd be fun (that definitely seems up Stu's alley, for sure). I'm glad you liked the movie! I hope you enjoy the sequels when you watch them; I personally love all 4, but Scream was my first horror movie so it always holds a special, nostalgic place in my heart.

You should watch The movie "Gamera" But only the heisei trilogy, 1995-1999 the 2006 one is a bit off but, you could watch them if you want. But the showa ones, 1965-1980 ones are a bit silly. I don't recommend watching the showa ones. Also they are Japanese movies

Agreed. The only thing about 3 is I feel it was a bit contrived, and the whole thing about... SPOILERS BELOW the half-brother/disposed son being the catalyst behind the mother's demise, and the first film, was unnecessary. Honestly, they didn't have to connect him to the first film. Instead, he could've become aware of his reaction, and bent on revenge, years later. After the first Stab film was made.

Apparently, they are coming out with a Scream 5 soon and the main 3 (Sydney, Gail and Dewey) are all reprising their roles. Honestly, I love horror movies, but the Scream trilogy is one of my favorites. I like Sydney. She's badass.

In the opening scene, both questions the killer asked were trick questions. No matter how she answered, she was going to be wrong. If she had said Mrs. Voorhees, the answered would have been Jason. With question number 2, clearly there was a killer at either door. That's why Billy said in the end, "if you get it wrong, you die. If you get it right, you die".

Yes you did hear the Halloween theme slightly in the first scene when he asks her who the killer is in Halloween! Very subtle piano only hardcore fans would catch. Scream is brilliant!

@@MovieFusion No honestly, as a first viewing that was SO impressive! It's been my favorite horror movie since it came out (nothing has quite surpassed it) and you noticed literally 99% of it's homages and references. I even made a list of the things you called out lol: "Don't Fear the Reaper" playing in the second scene, which also plays in Halloween.. the reference to Sam Loomis with Billy's last name.. the Freddy Krueger janitor... Tatum's "Wes Carpenter" mess-up, and your acknowledgement of how GOOD and loyal the first 2 seasons of MTV's Scream were. Because they WERE surprisingly great. You have a keen eye and loved that you appreciated it so much! Since you clearly have mature and accurate taste, I'm pretty sure you'll LOVE the second one also, maybe even the 3rd. Scream 2, imo, is just as excellent as the first one. Great intro, writing, cast, kills, direction, and the 'reveal' is epic and intelligent and does tie into the first film. The 3rd one is great too, but a step down for sure. Definitely doesn't deserve all the hate though. Despite a worse cast and less tension, it has the best score, acting from Sid, and a great ending and backstory. I feel like you'll agree with me that the 4th is TERRIBLE. It's cartoonish, bad cast, non-serious, nothing good about it... although people love it for some reason. Feels like a "Scary Movie" installment, not a serious Scream movie. Keep up the awesome reviews!

For me the biggest issue with the tv series, was the acting. Some actors were really bad. and the main character, i just wished she was the first to go. The rich bitchy character was the one i kinda enjoy more (im not into those characters... in fact thats why i dont like Emma Roberts characters)

S1 felt more like a teen drama, S2 started slow but really picked up towards the end, and S3 was a little unbearable because it had the worst acting. I actually liked the Scream TV Series but imo it wasn't Scream. Tbh it would've been better if they actually did a bunch more chase scenes but those are so scarce and when it does happen it's poorly made.

The fact that you noticed the visual similarity between Billy and Depp is so perfect cuz Glen Lantz (played by Depp) pulls that same window entry maneuver in the OG Nightmare! That Fred Krueger "cameo" is actually Wes himself! Kenny is such an unsung hero. In his dying moments, he signals to Sid about the little door in the back of the news van that she escapes GF through. Just noticed this while watching but Sid saying, "In your dreams!" before dropping the TV on Stu, is a solid, subtle nod to a line in NoES 3. The only Nightmare sequel which Wes had a part in writing. Ironically enough, it's actually the only line Robert Englund ever improv'd as Freddy Krueger. There's a theory that made its rounds back in the day that Dewey is actually a third killer. His timing throughout the movie: when GF calls Sid while Billy is booked, him popping up right after Sid first is attacked etc.; explaining how Billy still accomplished the opening scene despite Stu's alibi; he survive's his stab wound (something we watch Stu and Billy implement like five minutes later on each other.) And with Randy's, "It's the new millenium, motives are incidental." Dewey would have no motive to my knowledge making him the scariest killer and a true psycho.

Everyone I've ever heard talking about this movie is always going off about how Billy was obviously the killer. But I had the same perspective you did, the first time I saw it. Yes it obviously would've been Billy but it was too obvious. And like movies do, they could've been aiming at a twist, and Billy being so obvious made me way less suspicious of him. But then the reverse psychology that the directors may have been going with kept him suspicious regardless. Point is that in real life there'd be no doubt that it was Billy. But it can go any which way in movies. I'm glad you actually discussed this in your reaction, and didn't act like a smartass going "Oh it's obviously Billy", because ya no shit Sherlock, but it's a movie and I guess the concept of twist endings has eluded anyone who says that after watching this.

Fun fact: Wes Craven casted skeet Ulrich because he resembled Johnny Depp from Nightmare on elm Street. The window scene where Billy crawls in the window is reminiscent of Johnny doing the same thing in nightmare. Also Tatum wears a cropped #10 jersey which Johnny wears a very similar one in nightmare as well. Sorry I'm a super fan lol

Also fun fact, when neve Campbell hit skeet with the umbrella, the second hit actually hurt due to him recovering from surgery in that area. The pain was real and the reaction was so real, they kept it in.

Definitely watch the sequels, especially with the new Scream coming in January. Scream 2 is fantastic, 3 has some serious warts but is still ok and 4 is just pure fun.

5 little fun facts: - Fred the Janitor was played by Wes Craven himself - The voice changer was actually a different voice from the one you hear on the phone. The phone voice was provided by Roger L. Jackson who you may recognize as Mojo Jojo from the Power Puff Girls - The scene where the guy gers hit by the phone where he says "you hit me with a fucking phone you dick, was actually the actors genuine reaction as that was not in the script. The actors had to redo that scene so many times, they started getting agitated. The actor who threw the phone did it out if genuine anger - When Sidney hit Billy with the umbrella, the pain the actor felt was genuine - Finally, even though it came out 8-9 after this movie, Ghostface said the line "I want to play a game" in the opening scene, coincidentally quoting Saw

Stu was supposed to have survived and come back in the 3rd movie and lead a cult of Ghostface killers in School from jail but then Columbine happened so they had to scrap it and completely rewrite it.

But if you're doing horror of this era, I highly recommend I Know What You Did Last Summer and I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. However, ignore the direct-to-DVD third film - I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer. It abandoned the original central characters, and decided to take the supernatural route by turning the series' villain into a vengeful spirit. Luckily, they are rebooting the IKWYDLS series, and starting over. I just hope they keep a little more to the original source material, a teen horror novel, but still be a slasher like the original three movies. Have you seen the Halloween films? Maybe react to the original Halloween (1978), the reboot/sequel Halloween (2018), a direct sequel to only the first film. And they're now coming out with Halloween Kills, and then Halloween Ends. You can also watch the original sequels if you want (Halloween II, Halloween 4 The Return of Michael Myers, Halloween 5 The Revenge of Michael Myers, Halloween The Curse of Michael Myers, Halloween H20 Twenty Years Later, and Halloween Resurrection). However, they're no longer canon. You can skip Halloween III Season of the Witch, as it has NOTHING to do with the storylines or characters of all the other films.

Scream 2 is my favorite, always liked it better than the first. It’s one of the rare cases where the sequel is better than the original. The original characters come back, plus many other well known stars at the time made an appearance, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Omar Epps, Timothy Olyphant, Jada Pinkett, Jerry O’Connell, Heather Graham has a cameo. I think that’s why I liked it better.

Much like Alfred Hitchcock’s Rope where a duo kill a person and they are a male couple, it is implied that Billy and Stu have some sort of sexual relationship too. Scream 5 is supposed to be a great sequel and will kill off a major cast member.
