Starting out Spooky Season with a re-upload from last year! We loved this movie and we’re looking forward to the sequels! As always, thanks for the support! ❤
Forgot you guys did this one, feels like new lol. Did either one of you watch Scary Movie (2000)? Feels like a goofy one-off companion piece to this one that you'd find hilarious.
Please....I'm begging you both...please can you watch 'Psycho II' sometime this spooky season as its ages since you watched 'Psycho' and its worth a look, rather than steam ahead with the multitude of Scream sequels which are just the same film over and over again.
I love as they’re leaving the police station, Tatum tells Dewy “the janitor is your superior” and then later the janitor, “Fred” is played by Wes Craven who is technically their superior. Perfectly self-aware.
Wes Craven was a creative film director.. He knew what was fit for the characters in his films.. He was genius and the best horror film director even in the reboot of this "scream" he is mentioned as to honour him
@piai Wes DID NOT WRITE Scream, fucking dumbass. Therefore he had NOTHING to do with what happens in Scream, fucking idiot. KEVIN WILLIAMSON wrote Scream, jackass! So it was KEVIN, not Wes that chose what was fit for the characters, dipshit!
@Adam Harris Scream is not an Offspring of A Nightmare on Elm Street, fucking dumbass! KEVIN WILLIAMSON wrote Scream, Nightmare was written by Wes Craven, dipshit! Kevin was more influenced by Halloween than Nightmare, Yu dumbass!
That opening will never get old. “I wanna know who I’m looking at” “What did you say?” “I said I wanna know who I’m.. talking to” “That’s not what you said” “What do you think I said?” *chefs kiss*
Fun Fact: None of the cast members actually ever seen the voice Actor of Ghostface played by Roger L. Jackson in person while filming Scream, Wes Craven intentionally designed it that way so the cast members may feel a sense of terror during the Telephone scenes. Brilliant. Long Live Wes Craven!
I gotta say, that opening scene is absolutely one of the scariest intros in all of horror for me. It has yet to be surpassed by any other moment in the franchise. Love it!
@@Siegeclan34 Agreed. I've watched all the classics (Friday the 13th's cinematography alone still creeps me out), but this was brilliantly done by Wes Craven. It really put the audience in the victim's shoes in a way that is rarely ever done and done to this level of intensity. Her feeling of being totally isolated, plus the seemingly endless amounts of doors and windows for the killer to get her just adds to the suspense
I do still like this opening scene but the Friday the 13th remake in 09 is a fair competition it’s just as good and really gets you into the movie like this movie did too
It's also clever when Skeet is looking in the closet for Neve while watching Halloween when Michael Myers is trying to get Jamie while she's hiding in the closet.
YES!! The opening scene was on Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments and when people saw the opening, they thought Drew Barrymore was going to be the hero. They were in for a shocking surprise.
That exact spot where he said that line I was last week. Most of this movie was filmed in my hometown. That scene was filmed in Healdsburg two towns over.
The amazing thing about that opening is it set the whole tone for the movie cus it was marketed as a Drew Barrymore movie leading up to it an since she was one of the biggest stars at the time, everyone figured that she would be the one to make it to the end , so when she’s cut it the first 15 min it set the whole movie up as a ( oh anything can happen no one is safe) 👏🏼👏🏼 Also Drew originally I was going to play Sydney but then she was the one who said no I wanna play the opening girl, no one would expect it !! Love these movies
Also also that little throwback was cool because Wes Craven who was the Director of a nightmare on elm st AND the first 4 scream movies played the janitor Fred as a nod to Freddy Krueger 😂 have I mentioned how much I love this movie ?
Samantha's reactions to the jump scares were perfect. 😂 I've never heard more genuine screams to the movie Scream. Spooky Season is starting out with a bangin classic. 🎃👍
Scream sold ALOT of caller IDs! Not only the movie got me into slashers, but horror in general. I was such a scaredy cat as a kid, now I've seen it all and love horror!
This movie came out my Senior year of High School (1996) and I remember seeing it in the theatre. Everyone was terrified and screaming the whole time 😂
I love how in the garage door scene, the doggy door was actually way too big and she struggled to make it look like she couldn't fit through it, so in the end they nailed her shirt to the floor so she couldn't move too far forwards or back while thrashing around.
I think from what I heard is that Rose McGowan herself actually said that she could actually fit in thriugh that door but they had to make it smaller so that her character wouldn't be able to fit in
@@josephmendoza9523 Yeah I read it in an interview with her where she said they nailed her clothes to the floor, but they probably made the door smaller too. She also said she has since used doggy doors several times to get into houses when she had forgotten her keys, because Scream taught her that she can always fit 😂
@@bobblebardsley how exactly does one lock their self out of the house when they don't have their keys? If someone else is in the house, you aren't locked out...
@@donnieboughton1730 idk in the UK we have Yale locks, it's like a hotel room door closing. I have no idea what kind of locks Rose Macgowan has had in her life. I may have worded that wrong too, may have been she just arrived home to a locked house and nobody home.
@@donnieboughton1730 I mean if you have your keys then I don't see how you could be locked out, except if there was a deadlock on the inside of the door. But if you're outside and don't have keys, it's not that hard to end up locked out.
One of my absolute favorites. Such a classic. Every time I watch it I'm right back in the 90s. Fun fact: They had to film the garage door kill multiple times because Rose could easily fit through the door.
What a start! This is one of my favorite horrors and still, I was invested as if I didn't know what was coming! I love your reactions. “Poor Billy”, that never ages well 🤣 I suspected him and his devilish look from the get go, yet ALSO fell for that fake stabbing. What a trickster!
Fun fact the janitor was an obvious throw back to Freddy Kruger now the other fun fact the janitor was Wes craven himself . Enjoy spooky season . Can't wait to see what's next.
Fun fact, when Drew Barrymore's parents get home, her dad tells her mom "Go down the street to the Mckenzie's!", this is a nod to 'Halloween' when Jamie Lee Curtis tells the kids "I want you to go down the street to the Mckenzie's house!". The favor is returned again in 'Halloween H20', Jamie Lee Curtis tells her son "Drive down the street to the Becker's!", Becker was Drew Barrymore's characters last name in 'Scream' lol.
The marketing for Scream really made it seem like Drew was going to be the final girl so we were all shocked when she gets killed in the beginning. Such a fun movie. Matthew Lilard is just hilarious.
When Randy (Jamie Kennedy) was watching Halloween by himself and telling Jamie Lee Curtis to turn around that he's behind you. Wes wanted to play on that with their real names. It was him telling himself that he Jamie needed to turn around, lol. The way Wes Craven creates those little things is amazing and brilliant! - The whole last 20-30 mins everything that was happening around the house it was perfectly mirroring with what was happening in Halloween, lol. The bedroom scene with Billy/Sidney, Randy couch scene when Sidney yells out while outside happened at the same time as Laurie on Halloween was screaming so Randy didn't hear it but Ghostface did which ended up saving Randys life, Dewey searching through the house with the movie playing in the background, and then the closet scene that Sidney was hiding in waiting to attack Billy with the umbrella at the same time as Laurie was also hiding in a closet from Michael Myers 😂.
Even more clever about the scene with randy on the couch saying “jamie, turn around”, his real name is jamie kennedy. So jamie was telling jamie to turn around while jamie himself should have turned around. Lol.
A quarter century after seeing this in a theater and it still hits with the jump scares and horror movie references throughout. As usual, you guys rock! October is great when I see you guys do horror. Looking forward to more and to your Sopranos reactions. Great editing as well.
I actually had a mask like that when I was a kid because of this movie. The vision in it is very limited so it is understandable that the person wearing it would be tripping on stuff and falling over.
Rose McGowan really wasn’t too big to fit through that doggy door. She actually fit through the thing too easily during filming so they had to go out of their way to make it look like she got stuck.
As a long-time Scream-obsessed fan, it is so refreshing watching you guys experience this for the 1st time. You need to watch the rest of the franchise. There are 5 movies and the 6th just finished shooting and will be in theaters in March of 2023.
Yay!!! I was so hoping you guys would cover this particular horror franchise. It has such great scenes both scary and humorous…my ultimate favorite scene is with Randy when he’s going over the rules of a scary movie 😊 Wes Craven did an incredible job directing this film and I hope you guys watch the whole series. Always love watching your reactions and commentary ❤ great job
First time watching!!? How?! Let's go!! Hope you do all of them! Wow I'm really shocked you didn't know any spoilers. This movie's been out for a long time so I thought you might know the twist even without seeing it. One of my favorite things in the franchise is the whodunnit aspect. You really do suspect everyone and it's fun trying to figure out the killer(s).
Fun little trivia. During the scene where Sydney jabs the umbrella into Billy chest Neve Campbell missed the padded part under Skeets shirt and actually hit his chest. So his scream of pain is real
One of my favorite slasher movie and favorite franchises. I like the killer in this because it's not like an unstoppable, strong, and immortal killer we see, but it's more than one killer. I'm so glad you watched this movie and i hope you'll continue the franchise. Also R.I.P to Wes Craven. Hope you guys will have a lovely day!!
i never noticed but the actor of the virgin movie buff is named jamie kennedy, when he speaks to the tv playing the movie 'halloween' he says 'turn around jamie, he is right behind you!' referring to jamie lee curtis but it was also his own real name.
Fun fact about the intro: I was watching behind-the-scenes, and apparently they forgot to disconnect the phone Drew Barrymore was using, so every time she dialed 911, she accidentally called the cops screaming about a psycho/murderer 😂😅
The new phone system at my work requires people to dial 911 before the actual number and the cops have to come out to our office every time the call doesn't go through correctly, to be sure nothing is wrong.
Incorrect. They didn't forget to disconnect. There was a power Serge and the phone unexpectedly connected to the police. Get your facts straight, dumbass!
So many interesting facts about this movie. The names of some of the characters are directly referencing characters of classic Horror films before it. Loomis = Doctor Loomis Also one of the character’s names in the original Halloween had used the last name Loomis, and a similar tradition was carried on in Scream. There are Wes Craven references, John Carpenter, and a little from Friday The 13th. The Janitor Fred/Freddy scene is actually Wes Craven. The scene with Billy climbing in Sidney’s window and the fact that they deliberately cast him to look like a young Johnny Depp in Nightmare on Elm Street. The Sheriff is the same actor from the original Nightmare on Elm Street. The “People deserve to know, how does it feel?” reporter is Linda Blair the young actress that was Reagan in The Exorcist. Though some of it may seem a bit dated, it’s all brilliantly done. When Sidney jumps out and stabs Billy with the Umbrella, she made direct contact with a wound he had from surgery, so his scream is genuine pain. Drew Barrymore was famous as a model and an actress. (Even a Playboy Model) Already a veteran of starring roles, she was initially offered the part of Sidney Prescott, but it was her idea to instead be killed in the first scene opening which she knew no one would expect, thereby catching them completely off guard. (The death of America’s sweetheart) They do a great job making everyone look guilty. Focusing on close-up shots of shoes, and displaying suggestive behaviors. Like Randy says, Everybody’s a suspect. When Billy throws the phone and hits Stu, his response: “Ow! You hit me with the phone, dick!” was improv but was kept in because of its obvious comedic relief. Things you don’t notice about the film until the second time around you watch it: When Sidney says “If Tatum sees you, she’ll draw blood; If you look at Billy, you can can see him react accordingly through his expressions, considering he is most likely the one that killed her. Obviously, Stu was still inside hosting the party. Speaking of Tatum, Rose McGowan had to be fixed to the doggy door of the garage, because she COULD fit easily through it on the practice runs. Also, it is believed that Stu had feelings for Billy, hence the reason he killed innocent people in the name of helping Billy to exact his revenge. The movie is called “SCREAM” and the mask design was inspired by the painting “The Scream,” and thus it becomes a double meaning.
@Adnap Music You are a dumbass. First off, Loomis in Halloween was named after a character in Psycho, Yu moron. Second, STU killed Tatum, not Billy, Yu fucking dipshit. Billy would NOT have been able to slip into the party, Stu would have. Third, it was named Scream because Harvey Weinstein wanted it named after the Michael Jackson song and video, NOT cuz of the painting, fucking dumbass! Don't spread false info. Fucking dumbass!
*I have watched 5 of your horror reactions today and subscribed. you guys are amazing! and I love the long reviews at the end of your videos. I would love to see you react to the Halloween franchise. peace from Australia*
A little backstory of how Scream got created. Kevin Williamson wrote the story, originally titled "Scary Movie," and based the plot loosely on the 1990 case of the Gainesville Ripper. It was a string of murders in a small town... Then it was changed to "Scream" cause the Ghostface costume was a close resemble to the 1893 Scream painting. The Ghostface costume was originally going to be all white, but Wes Craven said it was too much like the KKK so he did the black robe with a white face. Kevin wanted to create a story that has horror but also with some comedy of making it a self-awareness within the horror universe. But also use a relatable story that truly happened as a baseline. So many Directors wanted to be a part of it. There was even a big bidding war. He chose Wes Craven cause he was the only one who truly understood the story and his vision. Kevin wrote 1, 2, and 4. He originally wrote for Scream 3 but they were forced to scrap that storyline just before they started filming due to the Columbine shooting massacre and because he was already back to writing for other stuff he was involved in so they had to bring in a different writer. He was an executive producer in "Scream 2, Scream 2022, and "Scream 6". Also helped as a regular producer in "Scream 3 and 4". Now he's going to be the new director for the upcoming of "Scream 7". The 2 directors that directed "Ready or Not" were the ones that directed "Scream 2022" and "Scream 6". Wes Craven directed all of the Scream movies except for the "Scream 2022" and "Scream 6". He died after making the 4th. The title of "Scary Movie" ended up being used for the parody movies. The 1st Scary Movie was about Scream, Scream 2, I know what you did last summer, the Blair witch project, Urban Legend, the sixth sense, The usual suspects, the Matrix, a very brief Dawson's Creek (which Kevin Williamson also wrote for).
Fun reaction to one of my faves. "They finished" followed by that look made me lol. I was never allowed to watch horror movies growing up and one day I went to the neighbor's and they were watching Scream. I was a huge movie fan anyways, but to have the killers also be movie buffs discussing the forbidden horror movies, truly etched its' way in my life. Keep going, guys.
40:00 Wes Craven's New Nightmare predates this by two years. It's the beta test version of 'Scream'. Once you finish the 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' main line sequels, watch that!
No it isn't, fucking dumbass. New Nightmare was written by Wes. Scream was written by Kevin Williamson, fucking dumbass. Written by two completely different people. Just cuz Wes DIRECTED Scream doesn't mean he had anything to do with the writing, fucking moron!
Fun thing to notice , when billy was dressed as the killer he was more precise but when stu was dressed as the killer , he was incredibly clumsy and looked more uncoordinated . When you rewatch the film you actually start to notice the differences
Ok so, the janitor in the Freddy outfit was Wes Craven, director of Scream and the first Nightmare on Elm St which makes Drew Barrymore's comment about the first movie being great but rest sucked even funnier. This jump-started Henry Winkler's career. He'd retired to take care of his family then came back with this show. The reporter who asks 'how does it feel to almost be butchered' is Linda Blair, the kid from The Exorcist
Thanks for clarifying that is a Re upload, a lot of channels just upload them again and pretend they're new, it makes me feel crazy cause i know i already saw them So i respect you two a lot for that 💕💕
Three things that I love about this franchise: 1. Ghostface is an actual human person who's killing people. It's not like Freddy Krueger, Jason, or Michael Myers. Scream is something that can actually happen in real life, and that's what makes it relatable and frightening. That's actually how Kevin created "Scream" by basing the plot loosely on the 1990 case of the Gainesville Ripper. Making Ghostface somewhat clumsy also made it a realistic human. (Also, the robe is very easy to trip over.) I love the mystery of who done it. 2. The self-awareness and rules about horror movies and how Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson plays on it. 3. Typically, in horror movies, it's always the killer that continues on the franchise with a whole new cast to kill off. But in Scream, it's the opposite it's the "final girl" who carries on the franchise who's fighting against different killers wh are portrayedg as Ghostface. - it's interesting with Ghostface how he seems intimidating and unkillable when hiding behind the mask. But once it comes off for the revealing, it's like he or she becomes vulnerable and then ends up getting killed. It's kind of like how people hide behind computer and phone screens they come off as aggressive and intimidating, always picking a fight. But then, when it comes to dealing one on one in person exposed they become complete opposite and are actually weak.
It would seemingly make sense that Stu killed Drew Barrymore, but we actually know it was Billy. The amount of detail Wes Craven put into this is incredible, to the point where he gave both killers tells for when either one was wearing the mask. Billy held the knife in his right hand and choked his victims when he had them pinned on the ground, where as Stu held the knife over his head with two hands, and had more of a tendency to slash as opposed to stab. Being her ex boyfriend's best friend, Drew Barrymore still would have recognized Billy when she unmasked.
KEVIN WILLIAMSON wrote Scream, not Wes, fucking dumbass. ...and Kevin already said Billy was on the phone and Stu did the killing in the opening scene, dipshit. Stu always kills his girlfriends personally, dumbass!
@@MrParkerman6 hey "dumbass" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1MUt5FNocqs.html Yes, Kevin wrote it and played a role in all of this. But Wes, as director, directs the actors who are physically playing out the scenes written. So a decision like physical tells for each killer was more like a director's decision.... "dipshit" Also, Billy was confirmed to be on the phone, but both of them were involved in chasing down Casey. And ultimately, Billy was the one to kill her, not Stu. In fact, it's unlikely Stu killed either Casey or Tatum "dumbass"
I really enjoyed your video. First time watching. But your reactions kept me hooked, I love that you guys actually were jumping at jump-scares, in other reaction videos I've seen they are scared but they don't jump that much, it's as if they weren't paying that much attention or kept the volume down haha. I love Scream and enjoy people watching it for the first time so much hahaha.
After the grindhouse and snuff like films of the 1970's (Texas Chainsaw, Last House on the left and others) and then the slasher 80's (Halloween Friday 13th etc so many clones) This RESET the slasher horror bar of the 1990's with a nod to horror tropes and written with the "final girl" played by beautiful and amazing Neve Campbell really gave horror a HUGE boost once again. Was fun to see you all react
At the time this film came out it was advertised like Drew Barrymore was gonna be in the whole movie. So the opening scene was a shock for the audience
One of my favorite touches is the closet "fake out" where we're told that closet is there, and so you're extra mad at yourself when the jump scare happens later with it, cause you were warned!~^.^ If you haven't seen already I highly recommend watching the video from Dead Meat where they tour the actual house the final scene was filmed in; there's something very satisfying seeing how well Wes used the space & that the movie viewer's grasp of it isn't that far off~~~
- So when Tatum said to Dewey that the janitor is your superior, it's true cause the janitor at the school that was dressed as Freddy Krueger named Fred was Wes Craven, who directed Scream-Scream 4. He also directed the original Nightmare on Elm Street. - So before Scream came out in 96, the caller ID was not popular at all. The caller I.D. sales in the U.S. tripled after Scream was released, lol. - Billy AND Stu were at Casey's and used their girlfriends as Alibis for being out. It was Stu's idea to have Casey and Steve on the kill list due to hatred because Casey dumped him for Steve. Stu was on the patio with Steve while Billy was in the front, tormenting her on the phone. The question about "Which door am I at" was a trick question. Stu ran to the front door to let Billy in. You could hear the front door open before she went outside through the kitchen. Also, when her parents got home, the front door was open. When her mom was hearing Casey breathing on the other end of the phone line, you can hear one talking to another saying "tree," and the phone ends. Also, when Steve was tied up, he was looking at both directions of the house. That's how Billy was able to stab her on the ground multiple times, dragged by both of them, hung her up, gutted her, and put her liver in the mailbox so quickly and left without being seen. - Wes Craven lol to get his actors into character emotionally like Drew Barrymore (Casey) and Neve Campbell (Sidney) right before he start to film he would run up to them and tell them something terrifying. With Drew, Wes Craven would tell her real-life stories of animal cruelty to bring out her emotions and then run off and yell action, lol. - Roger L. Jackson is the voice of Ghostface for ALL of Scream movies. For every film, the actors were never allowed to meet him before or see him during filming, so that way, when they were on the phone with him, it would give them that real fear effect. Wes Craven always kept him hidden from the others to where they couldn't see him, but he was still able to see them. He also improved a lot of his lines as well. - Neve Campbell (Sidney Prescott) was originally going to say no to the film as she is especially afraid of horror movies. But when hearing her co-star Skeet Ulrich (Billy Loomis) from "The Craft" (1996) was going to appear, she agreed. They did both movies back to back that same year. - They casted Skeet Ulrich as Billy Loomis and gave him the hair style cause of how close he looked like to young Johnny Depp in Nightmare on Elm Street, who also climbed in through a bedroom window. His last name, Loomis, is a reference to Dr. Loomis in Halloween. - Also, after he climbed through her window, the first time, "Fear the Reaper," was playing. He climbed through her window to distract her and turned on her stereo to cover up the background noise of Stu kidnapping her dad. If notice he was wearing the same outfit at the end. - The news lady that was harassing Sidney "how does it feel to almost being butchered" at the school is Linda Blair from the Exorcist. - If you look really closely when Billy was "stabbed" in the bedroom, you can see Stu adding the fake blood onto the knife before wiping it off. -Casey's comment about Nightmare on Elm Street about how the first was good, but the rest sucked. It's because Wes Craven only did the first one and didn't direct all the other ones, lol. -Kenny actually saved Sidney in his literal final moment AFTER his throat got slashed. He pointed to the back and told her "door" so she could crawl out. He was killed due to being collateral he was standing in the way to get to Sidney in the van. - Ghostface in the bathroom was a prank on Sidney it wasn't either Billy or Stu. - Rose McGowan(Tatum) was actually able to fit through the cat door. They had to staple her shirt to the door cause she kept falling out. Also, just before her head got smashed in, she herself added, calling out "mom," and Wes loved it and kept it in cause it gave her last moments of humanity. Rose also picked out her own outfits for her character. The jersey she wore with #10 was also a reference to Johnny Depp in Nightmare on Elm Street. - When Billy hit Stu in the head with the phone, it was an accident on Skeets part. The fake blood was so sticky and ended up hitting Matthew Lillard instead of the desk, and his "Oww You hit me with the phone D***" he stayed in character and was his real reaction to it. Wes loved it as well, so he kept it, lol. Matthew also improved most of his kitchen scene with his lines, like with "Houston, we have a problem," "the peer pressure, I'm far to sensitive," and the comment about his parents going to be so mad, lol. - That WHOLE kitchen scene took about 2 weeks to film because of the amount of high energy that was used as well with all of the fake blood (corn syrup dyed red). - Neve Campbell and Matthew Lillard actually started dating while filming Scream and were together for a little while. So that whole "I've always had a thing for you, Sid" was true, lol. He originally auditioned for Billy, but the casting didn't believe that someone like Sidney/Neve would date someone like him, lol. So he ended up getting Stu, and Skeet got Billy cause of his look alike to Johnny Depp. The funny thing is that even though the casting thought that about Matthew, they ended up dating real life anyway 😂 even though they didn't last that long as a couple they are still close friends. The OG cast are still pretty tight to this day (especially Skeet, Matthew, Neve and Jamie *Randy*), and they do A LOT of different conventions over the years together and still do. - When Billy got stabbed with the umbrella the 2nd time, it actually hit Skeet, where he had heart surgery when he was younger, so that scream he let out was his real action to the pain. - Drew Barrymore was supposed to play Sidney. But she ended up changing her mind, and she herself went to Wes with an idea to have her as the open kill cause no one would expect it because of how popular she was in the 90s. Also, it would show if they could kill off a huge star right off the bat, it would mean NO ONE was safe. It was the BIGGEST surprise shock effect for the audience cause they assumed she would be the leading character and they played into it with the publicity and posters. -Even though Billy was at Sidneys for the attack, it was Stu who she fought with. That first attack was to mess with Sidney and also to set up Billy so that way he wouldn't be a suspect later on. They were the ones who called the police that's how they got there so quickly without her being able to dial 911 or send them an emergency message off her computer. When Stu was tripping up the stairs to chase Sidney at her house, you could hear ghostface saying "easy" "easy." The next day at the lockers, he was checking his face in Tatums mirror for any bruises, and when Tatum was hitting him with her sucker he says "easy" "easy. -Billy was always 1 handed with his killing if he had a knife if didn't he resorts to choking except for Tatum he used the opportunity with the garage door. He gave a signal look to Stu at the front door to confirm that Tatum was dead. Billy wanted her dead because she wouldn't have let him get near Sidney, especially since she told Stu NOT to invite him to the party. So he killed her to get her out of the way. Stu uses both hands when using the knife and resorts to other tactics if he doesn't have a knife like the both times he fought Sidney (at her house and in his living room). -Stu was the one that called Dewey about the abandoned car to get him away from the house for a little bit and also called Randy about the principal after the whole "I'll be right back." Billy killed the principal so they could use him as a deploy for later that night to get the rest of the guests to leave the house so the real party could begin. - Dewey was originally supposed to die in this one, but Wes Craven and everyone just loved David Arquette when they did a screen view test and how he played his character. They all fell in love with him, so Wes went back, and they reshot the ending where he had Dewey do the thumbs up to show the audience that he survived.
I hadn't seen this before, I just recently found your channel and I'm still going through the back catalog. Really nice reaction. I would just point out that the killers were just teenagers using what they learned from horror movies. Them being clumsy and not exactly precise in their murders is expected. I hope you're doing at least some of the sequels this October. People talk smack about them, but 2, 3 and 4 aren't bad at all. 3 is very campy, but I still like it. The latest one was disappointing to me. It was the only movie of the franchise that I immediately guessed who the killer(s) is(are) and didn't doubt anyone else not even for a second. So a lot of the enjoyment was lost. Still, I hope you get to it as well.
The scene in which the principal talks to the janitor is indeed a cool callback. The janitor is played by Wes Craven, the director of both "Scream" and "Nightmare on Elm Street". Also fun fact: The mask is based of the painting "Der Schrei" (the scream) by Edward Munch.
This is one of the few films I've seen where i got the twist pretty early on, that there were two killers. In the video store when Randy says the killer is Billy and he turns around and there he is, Stu is behind randy and is just staring at Billy, like the two are more than friends, like they are in on something. Then after Billy kills Stus girlfriend, he shows up at the door and gives Stu this little raised eyebrowed smile, like hes telling him 'job done'. Stu told Tatum to get him a beer, and for some reason has all the beer down in the garage instead of where the party is. As great as the Scream films are, and even though they cleverly set up the premise that everyones a suspect, its still always pretty obvious who the killers are.
STU killed Tatum, not Billy, fucking dumbass. Billy wouldn't have been able to slip into the party, Stu would have. That look was telling Stu to get lost, so Billy could have sex with her, fucking dumbass.
@@MrParkerman6 Ok, what THE FUCK are you calling me names for?? calm the fuck down! and it was Billy, you only have to look it up. Jesus fucking christ..
@@MrParkerman6 and he had the remote to the garage door, THATS how he got in initially, then hid and waited for her to go in, then followed her. And i cant believe youre questioning the logistics of a film where Tatum went missing the whole night and nobody, including Sidney, even noticed.
@@MrParkerman6 AND every time it cut to the party, Stu was in the thick of it, sitting with everyone joking and laughing at Randy. He was at the party the whole night
17:16 This whole movie is a deconstructed look at horror movies, particularly slasher movies. It acknowledges all the tropes, homages and still manages to turn them on their head.
Scream (1996) has aged brilliantly and it will continue to do so. It's a ground breaker in horror especially for mid 90s American time. Ghostface is a simple outfit with a mask, but it's very scary with a knife. The pace of the film is great and the audience had no clue who the killer's were right until the end. Wes Craven made a masterpiece in horror films.
I hope you both watch "Scary Movie" with Anna Farris and the Wayans Brothers (Gotta watch "I Know What You Did Last Summer" before too) - the jokes still stand up till this day!
