It happened to me too. I love all spidermans but this one is just it. This really sold the nerdy but funny and approachable Peter Parker. The other spidermans felt a bit too adult-like for me but they've got really cool scenes!
Fr!!! This one has been the only one that really shows that Peter Parker is just a teenager, no shade to Andrew Garfield or Toby Mcguire but it's really refreshing!
This Spiderman has 3 movies, Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home. He was also in Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. No Way Home happens after Endgame.
As someone who was in high school when this film came out and had a bunch of friends on the school news team, this movie will always hold a special place in my and their hearts for just nailing it.
The Childish Gambino (Donald Glover) connection to Spider-man is wild. Glover is a big fan of the character and once goofed during his stand-up that he wanted to play Peter Parker. This grew into a semi campaign that he incorporated into his Twitter and his role on Community. Brian Michael Bendis would create the character of Miles Morales and used Glover’s character (Troy) on Community as his primary inspiration. Years later, Glover would get to voice Morales in a Spider-man cartoon and in this movie he references a nephew that he worries about? That nephew is Miles Morales and Glover is playing the Prowler.
Just an FYI; Spider-Man homecoming SHOULD take place about 2-3 months after Captain America civil war (which means it takes place in 2016) BUT the movie claims to take place 8 years after the first Avengers movie (which would then mean it takes place in *2022*). It’s just a typo. :P
@@johnbowen5220 It's not hard. Movies of Mcu until endgame were almost in the same year what year in the movies. Strage 2016 and was made in 2016, winter soldier 2014 and was made 2014, avengers 2 2015 and was made 2015 etc etc
Oh wow, really? I just kinda memorised the whole thing. Between Civil war and Infinity war theres two years, that's when all the TV shows + Homecoming and Black Panther take place. The Far from home trip takes place in summer, and we know that people blipped back mid-school year because it's literally shown. Then No Way Home goes from what is most likely still summer (given it starts instantly after Far from home) and goes until right before the beginning of Hawkeye, as we can see from the rockefeller tree.
Dude during that 1:04:45 scene I remember the theater just dropping dead silent except maybe a few gasps in shock. Still the best twist in the mcu to date (and I’m not even sure if you could call it a twist)
They did an AMAZING job reimagining Vulture for this. AMAZING. Go look up the original comic book appearance for Vulture. He's really... really effin' stupid.
I love the energy in your reactions, would be great to have an MCU series to watch along with. If I could make one suggestion: Instead of the hard cutoff that I believe leads into the post reaction discussions, could you maybe start having an outro that leads into that more smoothly? I'm not in a situation to join a patreon to watch those discussions myself, but those immediate, sometimes mid sentence video stops are...well I don't know how exactly to describe it but it would feel better if you more naturally were like, "hey, we're gonna keep talking about this, but that part is for patreon members only. See you next video". Or whatever feels good for you guys. Just not "oh yeah I can't beleive that thing with the thing happen-*video ends*"
I'm a bit surprised that Ruff hasn't heard of the Vulture, but then again this doesn't have the vibrant green like the old versions have and they don't specifically mention the name in the movie (at least not that I remember).
remember back in the 90's when they had the popcorn that came with the caramel you packet you heated and put on top afterwords...before someone got burned and they took it off shelfs? OMG now THAT caramel popcorn WAS BUS'N!
The way I read the after credit scene with vulture is that he was saved by spider-man at the end and before he also saved his daughter, he even said in his speech in the warehouse to Peter that he sympathized with Peter and saw both of them as equals, tools for the higher ups to use and discard so he never hated Peter. He just realized in the end that what he did was wrong and while he has no path to redemption he can at least keep his future clean.
Trust me when i say this. Everything in marvel is canon, even that japanese spiderman super sentai series. Even that crossover series with dc where tim drake from dc had a relationship with jubilee from xmen.
I mean the creation of DC’s Source Wall was in a Teen Titans/X-Men crossover. Access is still out there keeping the two of them separate technically somewhere
That wasn’t canon at all. It’s true that Marvel has never rebooted, but there are plenty of things that are not canon in it. And the few marvel/dc crossovers are not. It’s headcanon that on the other side of the source wall in DC is the Marvel Universe, but in actual canon it was just another cosmic being.
@@BelBelle468 he’s shown up in the comics a few times, in both Spiderverse and Spidergeddon, him and his robot Leopardon were integral to saving the multiverse. Not going to lie, seeing him show up at the last minute, piloting his giant robot, kicking ass and screaming how he was from planet spider and a god of death, was pretty fucking epic.
if you guys are gonna watch spiderman no way home (thats the recent one) your gonna have to watch the tobey maguire and andrew garfield spiderman films because some really big references will pop up and your not gonna get them unless you watch the other spidermen movies.
IMO this is one of the best Spider-Man movies Personal Ranking 1. No Way Home (the culmination of the story arc for MCU Peter) 2. Homecoming (Awesome adaptation of the early comics, loved how they took the comic arc of Peter trying to join the F4 and changed it to the Avengers) 3. Spider-Man 2 (Its a great movie but god damn it frustrated me as a comic fan, Peter in the comics was much more assertive and wouldn't have let Harry hit him) 4. TASM (great and had a much more accurate Spider-Man, though Peter was a bit too cool) 5. Far From Home (Mysterio Elevates the film and I enjoy the cheery tone of the film, Spider-Man was always one of the more happy comics) 6. Spider-Man (solid film, great origin) 7. TASM 2 (Best part was the adaptation of Gwen's Death) 8. Spider-Man 3 (Terrible, The theme for the Black suit was the best part)
No Way Home is one of the worst movies for me. It SHOULD be MCU Peters big finale for the trilogy, instead hes randomly fighting people he has never seen before because fan service. The first 10-15 minutes of NWH were fantastic and a whole movie about Peter having to defend himself in the court of public opinion while also dealing with a villain like Kraven or whoever could have been amazing.
Spider-Man 3 is so sad imo cuz there was so much studio intervention that it could have been far better than it ended up being. A lot of good, in between all the mediocre that the studio demanded.
@@Serryy It serves as a culmination for all 3 spider ppl, but considering the story they used the other villains to still support and develop this Peter’s development. And the finale was incredibly impactful, how could u complain that it wasn’t “finale” enough? Also, defending himself? The 10-15 min you mention literally is the extent of that. How in the world is watching someone argue against other ppl supposed to be interesting? For the entire movie…? He does that alongside fighting villains, but I think “fan service” and culminating MULTIPLE story arcs for characters across all live action movies is far more “finale” than fighting some random villain introduced just for that movie (like Kraven). And I don’t get why ppl hate the fan service, it’s handled in such an innocuous way that doesn’t take attention away from the ongoing story.
@@theamazingspooderman2697 No. It doesn't make sense. The spell supposedly brought everyone into the universe who knows that Peter is Spider-Man. And then we get villains who don't know that Peter is Spider-Man. Btw, where are the infinite aunt Mays? Where are the Mary Janes? And correct me if I'm wrong, his alternate versions didn't "make him feel better", he was about to kill Osborn. Besides, half of NWH was Peter interacting with villains he doesn't know and two alternate versions.
@@BelBelle468 No, the 10 minutes we see is him running around to get his friends an MIT spot. We could have seen how he deals being outside in the public chasing down a villain while everyone knows and hates him. Thats actually interesting to see how it affects the character. Yet the only thing we get is the death of aunt may because Tom Holland's Peter Parker didn't already lose a parental figure. Better do it again. Not to mention that he gets an incredibly contrived ending just so Sony can potentially make Spider-Man movies outside the MCU if their negotiations with Disney fail.
A bit burnt out on the MCU after it being my hyperfixation pretty much since 2020, but loved seeing you guys see the MCU Spiderman through fresh eyes!! Would totally be down to watch y’all do the whole trilogy, Black Panther, and fill in any other gaps in your MCU knowledge 🤝🤝
Freshly popped pop-corn , like heat a pot on medium, put in some coconut oil and a bit of butter/clarified butter and put in kernals, then pop... and serve... mmmm.
58:23 he's young, BUT if Stark had just kept him in the loop, knowing how desperate he is to get out there making him likely to get in over his head, would he have gone there?
This might be a hot take, but I kind of wish we got a fight scene between Spidey and Iron Man after the Ferry. Tony says something about Peter not knowing anything, yadda yadda, Peter gets furious with Tony because that just felt like a slap in the face after what happened to Uncle Ben, yadda yadda, Tony & Peter fight, Peter wins and steals the suit with the extra gadgets besides his basic webbing being disabled and boom, you got a fantastic sequence that also mirrors their rivalry from the comic's version of Civil War!
I like tom’s Spider-Man because we actually see him go through school while being spider-man when Tobey graduated in his first movie and Andrew graduated in the 2nd movie🤣they really showed his freshman years of being spider-man without the origin story of uncle ben dying, his personality as Peter Parker is good for the nerdiness and awkward part, his personality as Spider-Man is good too but when it comes to the Spider-Man personality i still think Andrew takes the cake for me, even tho in this Movie since tom is younger he’s gonna be like this, but after the events of No Way Home he’ll probably be like Andrew’s a little bit, Taunting and making fun of his enemies and all that stuff😂 My live action portrayal ranking (NOT STORY/MOVIE) 1. Andrew (Perfectly personality, closest comic accurate suit with the big white eyes, but the symbol just needed to be a little higher up on the chest) 2. Tom (Semi perfect personality, also his new suit closest comic accurate suit with the brighter red and blue, perfect symbol, but he doesn’t have the big white eyes 3. Tobey (Personality was kinda trash to me, just barley energy under the mask, he barley used the quips, taunts, wasn’t that talkative, jokes, and when he did try to make jokes they just felt so forced and didn’t hit, not really a fan of his suit compared to Andrew and Tom but i’ll give it points for having a good amount of nostalgia!
Hey I love this type of contact a hound the hell have you or anyone who makes this specific video say they haven’t seen it yet it was no way that this movie came out and you said to yourselves I’m not gonna go see this.
Homecoming is definitely my favorite among the Home trilogy but that's not saying too much considering I don't love the other 2. I think it's a good movie overall and probably among my favorites in the MCU but still the other 2 is just not great in my opinion
That’s so surprising. I’ve only seen 2 ppl say they weren’t fond of the 3rd Spiderman movie. I like 2, tho I think it’s not as quality as the 1st and 3rd, tho I feel like that’s the majority opinion lol. What did 3 do or didn’t do that u felt made it inferior to this one?
@@BelBelle468 There's just a lot of things that movie does that feels not great. Peter has ALOT of dumb moments. He wants to help the bad guys that's great but be more careful around these psychos. Sandman's motivations make no sense at all. I didn't really care for the college sideplot glad that ended quickly. And I didn't notice this until someone mentioned it to me but I'm pretty sure they drop the Spiderman killed a man within the first 5 minutes of the movie It's also kinda dumb it took THIS long for Peter to realize that "Great power comes great responsibilty." This is like his 5th movie My pros for this movie can be summed up to past characters return and the Aunt May scene is sad. And while I love seeing Tobey and Tom call Andrew amazing I don't think that's quite enough for me to say I love this movie
@@easyscout8369 sandman wants to go home. I think it makes sense. He wasn’t particularly violent. The focus kinda moved from “spidey killed someone” to “alternative universe ppl r invading this universe” so of course it would be “dropped”. The only issues remaining after the (it was longer than 5 min) “Spider-Man killed” part of the story was the social circumstances since he wasn’t legally convicted of murder. And that social part was evident throughout the movie. Peter never had purposefully to sacrifice anything until this movie, hence he doesn’t get the “great power” thing until now. It’s been 2 movies dedicated to his story, and technically the trilogy is just an origin story. As for the whole “be nice around the psychos”, none of them showed any serious indication of being terrible. Nobody acted badly until the Green Goblin did his thing, and until then he was chill. He barely knows any of them, unlike the audience. He doesn’t know what they did wrong either. So what could he have prepared for? He had to keep them in line, while inventing cures for every one of them. He’s got a lot on his plate, and he believed they would play nice cuz they don’t want to be sent back to their universe to die. He doesn’t realize that some ppl aren’t logical and won’t do what’s in their best interest.
@@BelBelle468 The main problem I have with Peter not learning the great power thing is him going through so much more than the other Peters and every movie like Civil War for example it's made pretty clear Peter does understand the resposibilty of being a hero and truly understands after Homecoming only for him to continue to backtrack and relearn the same lesson in different ways And yeah sure most of the villains haven't acted like psychos around Peter and not like Peter even knows who they are unlike us. I agree with that. That doesn't mean you should let them roam around in the house doing whatever they want and let the Lizard stay in the car because he asked. Electro's spent quite a bit of the movie talking to himself about how he wants this power and I guess Peter doesn't notice? Sandman's the only person who has a sane mind and does trust Peter but he loses the trust after he watched Peter fix Doc Ock's problem because Goblin basically said he couldn't help I don't remember if Norman told Peter about Goblin or anything involving that but despite how naive this Peter can be at times he's still plenty smart and should be able to tell something is wrong with Norman And the spidey killed someone thing. I less have a problem with that cause it's never brought up and more because it's such a wasted plot point that could've lead to something more than just an excuse to bring back old characters
@@easyscout8369 The spidey killed someone clearly can't go anywhere because he already has a "saving universe" reputation. Some randome guy with a edit video can only make him seem guilty but can't prove it. The goverment probably seen the video record from those stark drone they confiscated and know that he innocent, but they didn't public it because it confidential. So the only plot point they can make in the movie is the public theory with jj jameson which they do pretty good at. And it kinda cool how that start the whole conspiracy theory thing about spider man later on even though they forget about peter already but spider man was still being remember as the murderer. And he didn't backtrack, every movie it's a difference lesson. It just that they all lead to the iconic phase. The "great power come with great reponsibility" was spread out through the trilogy. That why it cool that they make the whole trilogy his origin story instead of only 1 movie it took for the others version.
to add on to what Willie and Gamica said, this trilogy seems to be an origin story to Spider-Man's role in the future, with what happened in NWH and all
