This movie is such a great piece. Especially in Brazil. The Brazilian dub enhanced the humour so much. Like, the scene where the penguins throw a snowball at the protagonist, instead of "stop", in the BR Dub, he says "THROW YOUR MOTHER TO SEE IF SHE BOUNCES!" And Chicken Joe is just peak comedy with his accent.
22:00 those are clips from real surfers and lifeguards explaining what it’s like to surf. Some of them were on Bondi Rescue, a really cool Australian show about the lifeguards on Australias busiest beach 😊
@@gracesadventures7485 it’s remarkably hard to find information about that scene for some reason, but I 100% recognize one of those voices as Harry from Bondi Rescue. It’s from their early seasons, I might be able to find it that’d be cool 😋
He didn't remake the necklace. He took it from Cody. Then realized how much of an impact he had on Cody and how much the necklace meant to him so he gave it back.
Surf's Up is easily the perfect definition of an "underrated movie"! Before Spider-Verse came along, I considered this to be the best thing to come out of Sony Pictures Animation!
This movie is truly a hidden gem! There is indeed a video game for this movie. I used to love playing it on my ps2. The levels where you could surf were pretty cool!!
28:16 Apparently there's a PlayStation 2 game of Surf's Up. But couple other that I at least know of (based on movie, on PlayStation 2) would be: - Shrek 2 - Madagascar - Over the Hedge - Monsters VS. Aliens
Watching this again makes me want to play the game again. It was real good fun and I'm sure there was a volcano level too. When it came up, before Seb even mentioned it, I was like "I swear the game had a level based off of this!"
This is definitely a re-watch. I have watched this movie so many times. It brings me so much peace and comfort. I absolutely understood what you meant about sitting on the beach with friends and a fireplace and waves. What a dream
You've watched like... every animated movie of the 2000s apart from Open Season which is mind-boggling cause these were way more popular than some of the movies you've watched already
I picked up this movie as a kid. The behind-the-scenes of how they made this was really neat, because they actually shot it in a hand-held documentary style. They had the cameraman run around a soundstage, with the view finder showing a live view of what was happening in the scene from that perspective. That filming technique is better known from the film, Avatar, which came out a couple of years after this.
Glad you've finally come around to it was definitely worth the comments over the days, super unique animation especially for its time and its one of those movies that hits harder as an adult than it did my younger self.
I feel like this movie is one of those rare gems that flew under the radar when it came out, people didn't know what to think about it cause they weren't seeing what was really going on. They expected a silly kids movie about Penguins surfing and got a really damn good movie about life
this highly underrated movie is essentially a love letter to surfers but with penguins and animated. I swear between the inside of the wave and the beach scenes the animation is beautiful. And great casting too Shia, Zooey Deschanel, and Jeff Bridges.
What a movie man,, i´ve love this movie since im a kid and now that im grown up i can see that its really a master piece... Long live Z man. love ur videos man
STOPPP this movie was so ahead of its time i love the movies you pick brooo they fit the vibe of you and your energy, hella entertained since i stumbled upon your channel :)) 🙌
My memory of this movie is vague, so I'm watching Seb to jolt some memories. I remember playing the video game for Surf's Up at my friend's house though lol
i went to a surfcamp last year and even tho i was only able to catch a few small waves and stand up, it was truly amazing but extremely exhousting. go do it seb
Now you know, :P!!! The fact that its a mockumentary is just what makes this movie so gooooood lol. Its hilarious its fun and it has its own charm. Definitely something to throw on every now and then and just vibe to. Also the life lessons... yes this movie just gives you hope =]
Yay! I was so happy to see you watch this! It's such a unique movie. The behind-the-scenes features on blu-ray were fun to watch. The animators made a special computer animation model for the waves, making them ultra-realistic. And a lot of the voice actors for the commentators were real-life surfers (if I remember correctly). Also, the actors often filmed the dialog scenes all together so they could riff off each other. Very fun to see 😊🏄♂🐧Glad you enjoyed it! ~Caroline
Thank you for watching my favorite movie!! So stoked you loved it!! Surfing is incredible and you should give it a go. And thank you to the commenter that spammed your videos for the last six months - well done!!
I don't know if I'm the one you were talking about as I've only asked for this twice, but I'm really glad you watched! I'm from a surfing household though not a surfer myself and this movie really captures the vibes of the culture and has a lot of cool references.
its even more meta than you think, all the camera work is done manually with people holding cameras that do all the camera work that is then trasferred into a digital camera (way before lion king reboot done it}
@@michellewhittaker3448 Atlantis 100%. Get on it. Mass suggest it. It will be added to his long list of: "best animated movie of all time, but shares the #1 spot with a 100 other animated movies"
