The fact that Pedro isn’t a father himself, but plays them so effortlessly?! He just gives such gentle, re-assuring energy. 🥹 He and Bella are so amazing together in this show-and their friendship off-screen is the most wholesome, precious thing! I love them both so much. Can’t wait to re-experience this show with you both! 🥰

i have watched the first series 4-5 times since it finished and to me Bella Ramsey and pedro pascal do some of if not the best acting i have ever witnessed from any tv show and even most movies.. it is fantastic series cant wait for season 2. remember this is all set 20+ years after the outbreak and Ellie (bella Ramsey) is only 14 so all she has ever known is inside the walls of boston.

Glad I stumbled on this, you two, no joke, might be two of the most observant reactors I've seen watching this show. I think I've only seen one other person notice Joel looking at a watch that wasn't there. Honestly, it's a nice change of pace seeing people who actually pay attention and notice things.

For someone who has played the game. This show still struck emotional strings hard everytime on watching. I thought I would get de-sensatized but it just elevated those emotions even more than while playing game.

I get such strange schadenfreude from a girl doing the "Daddy!" thing and then immediately seeing him pick up a child's dead body to toss into a fire. The sudden change in mood is funny 😅

The show is damn near identical to the story beats in the game, and in an epic rarity the changes that were made were loved by game fans too. Bella has channeled the soul of Ellie to perfection, and Pedro embodies Joel hardness and inner conflict/trauma amazingly. All the major actors who did voice and mocap acting for the game characters will be making cameos through out the show, with the first one seen in episode one. The actress for Marlene is actually uniquely reprising the role as she did the voice and mocap for Marlene in the game too. Not sure if you guys have watched game of thrones, but both Pedro and Bella had characters in that as well (though not at the same time). Pedro was Prince Oberyn Martell, and Bella was Lady Lyanna Mormont. I've been making the rounds through a lot of reactors for this show right now, very enjoyable first run at it! As you refine what you wanna do with this, I'd like to offer that a lot of us would like to hear your after thoughts on whatever is being watched in addition to the reactions themselves. But however you guys decide to set things up, I bet it will slay.

Don't know if anybody's told you these are not zombies they are called infected they are people that are infected with the fungus being controlled by the fungus the person they were is still inside that body they are not dead they are trapped like they're in a prison in their own head with the fungus controlling them without them being able to stop themselves from biting people or attacking people type of concept

The references to Austin and San Marcos and Travis County, just a few miles away from where I am, are pretty accurate, there is even a major airport. However, the area around here doesn't quite look like that. Good to know I'm in ground zero of the apocalypse tho, lol.

Worst part about the infected/zombies in this show or in the game, is that victims who are infected are still alive, the cordyceps fungus controls their brain, and forced them to eating people

This was a PlayStation exclusive, I haven't really been a console gamer since the early '90s, so I initially watched an hours long cut of a streamer playing the game, back in 2013. It was traumatizing then, and the show doesn't disappoint in it's delivery. Naughty Dog's writer Niel Druckmann did an absolutely brilliant piece of work, and then the game development team there took it to a new level with the experience and the trials of the game. The HBO series isn't far off from the original and I honestly had a debate as to whether I wanted to watch it knowing what I knew. But then I did watch is, and Pedro and Bella absolutely hit it out of the park. It's super exciting to see some of the voice actors make it into the show, absolutely most notably is Ashley Johnson, who voiced Ellie in the game, and then got to play her mom in the series.

I think I've seen dozens of people react to this episode and not a single one saw all of those airplanes making emergency TAKEOFFS, connected the dots to the fact there must be a local airport nearby, and having just seen how fast people can turn, managed to put it all together. Im the show it is no longer a air born virus, it is spread via tendrils and hope you are ready to cry alot, also the actress playing Marlene is the same actress from the game.

20:19 So, explanation on Cordyceps: It's a real-life fungus that feeds off its hosts, so, in this show, it does kind of die. The "zombies" don't really stay alive forever. In real life, as the fungus continues to possess its host, it slowly feeds on the host's body so that the host will stay alive, allowing the fungus to keep doing its thing. But eventually the fungus has to run out of flesh to feed on at some point, so once it runs out, it just leaves behind a husk like what you saw attached to that one wall. In this show, Tess said that one body wasn't there before, so I'm assuming there are some cases where the fungus grows too fast for one reason or another? When Joel said "this one's done", he was probably just saying that the Cordyceps finished feeding on that particular body and can't use it anymore lol
