You picked up the not eating cake detail really well! If you rewatch the first episode, you see how by chance both Joel and Sarah got really lucky by not eating anything made with flour that day: - For breakfast they had bacon and eggs - Joel declined the neighbors biscuits because "he's on Atkins" (a genius writing details, because in 2003, the Atkins diet was actually popular) - Sarah didn't eat any cookies because they were raisin instead of chocolate chip - Joel forgot to get a birthday cake You can really tell that everyone put a huge amount of love into this show.
In the first episode I thought Kiss is faking the gagging as a comedic element of the reaction. Now I am sure she really is gagging for real which makes it even funnier! LOL
Random fun fact: The Duffer brothers the creators of Stranger Things, are a big fan of The Last of Us, that they inspired Hopper and Eleven's relationship from Joel and Ellie, both Joel and Hopper lose their daughter named sarah, then he met a girl with special abilities named "El"
Yep, Mycology the study of fungi. The brilliance of this opening, is it captures the utter defeat of the initial chaos in a much different manner than the first episode. Its not panicked crowds and explosions. Just the resignation of one expert who knows what they face and that there is no hope.
Never had so much fun watching a reaction, keeping me awake at work! In case nobody else has said it yet, the infected called Clickers, the reason they are clicking is that's how they "see" by using echo location. Similar to how bats and dolphins do it, they make sounds or clicks and can hear the sound waves bounce off whatever is around them. It's pretty trippy, makes it super intense and scary in the game!
@Haylo & Kiss KISS! Just a helpful hint from someone who gets nauseated a lot: keep either an ice pack or a wash cloth in a bowl with ice cubes in it next to you; and when you feel sick, alternate the ice pack or cold wash cloth on the back of your neck and then on your cheeks, and renew the coldness as needed - quickly cooling down those spots help to suppress your gag reflex to help you not throw up! Love from Maddie
The first reaction I’ve watched that appreciated and loved Tess. She is, in my opinion, very underrated. She was my favorite, too. Great reactions! Love the chemistry between you both. Cheers
Fun things to note: -Joel is a non-believer because 20 years of trauma has killed his hope. He denies himself human attachment, except for Tess, but even then keeps her at arms length and wont admit feelings. -Joel especially does not want to connect with Ellie for exactly what you said, she is about the age his daughter was and can banter in a similar way. -Infected come in various stages depending on how long they endure, Runners/Lurkers are early stages. They can see and give chase and their bodies are more human than fungus. Lurkers don't wander and just chill at a place until triggered. Clickers are what they saw in the museum, the fungus has taken over much more of the body. They don't want to infect you, they just kill. They are strong and tough to kill due to being mostly fungus and don't rely on vital organs other than the brain. They track only by sound and the clicking is like echolocation like bats. There are other stages for the oldest, but you will see. The ones that don't last long are ones like the one fused to the wall in episode 1. The fungus burned through them too fast and turned the dude basically into a decoration. -When Joel goes into survival mode, he disassociates from everything but surviving. He is not good at processing his emotions.
@@Kayjee17 Fair enough, though I sort of looked at that as they -can- infect you but they are so much more physically aggressive that they are far more likely to kill you out right, like the dude the saw dead just inside the museum. Tess and Ellie only got just bit because they managed to win the over all fight. Truth be told, fungus isn't that smart either way I suppose lol. My hypothesis on why clickers and bloaters might exist, is an adaptation for defending an already established infestation more so than spreading it. Perhaps we are all right lol
Yeah, clickers want to infect you but it’s much more likely that they rip you apart than a runner or stalker (I don’t remember if stalkers were in the show, but they are by far the scariest type)
Man, I really hate the feeling of retching. I don’t typically have that reaction to visuals, but even so I found the infected ‘kiss’ to be repulsive so I can’t imagine how bad it was for you. A trash can may be a good idea just in case. Put a little nice smelling soapy water (or otherwise pleasant smelling water) in the bucket beforehand, it’s a thing my parents did when someone had food poisoning, and I find it helps before and after. She show really seems to be working for both of you which is awesome! I don’t wanna say “this next episode will do___” because that’s lowkey spoilers, so I’ll just say there’s a lot of amazing show to come!
4:14 30 hours, 14 missing potential victims not counting Patient Zero with a time table of 5 minutes to 24 hours to full take over. That is terrifying. And that is why this Doctor made that poor Military man poop himself with one word: Bomb. 19:13 The jump scare is strong in this one, ten gold stars to the make-up department. Five Gold stars for the Actors as the Clickers. Five Gold stars for Set designers. 26:33 Tess is a Certified Badass, Most Badass of all the Badasses in the History of Badassiness. We are going to induct her into the Halls of Badassiness. Rest well you Badass.
I have not laughed in a reaction for this video as much as this ! You guys are great fun. Glad you are using headphones now, audio is so much better ! Please please please, after you are done come back and have just a quick (or long !) recap over what you have seen and what you think.
Hey, really enjoying the uploads. I appreciate that you aren't afraid to cry on camera, because what I enjoy is seeing people have a strong emotional response to something that I had a strong emotional response to
My goodness you 2 are great together, that was such a fun reaction to watch. This series gets better and better as it goes on, really looking forward to witnessing the journey you 2 are about to take. I've never seen anyone look so beautiful while being afraid, and I can not get enough of those smiles. I love how close you 2 are and the bond you have, it shines. Great job ladies, I am hooked.
Another great reaction girls, keep at it! Please, just take your time to talk about the episodes after watching them. Next one is going to be fantastic!
I'm not usually a fan of reactors spending a long time talking before and after the episodes, but, I think it might be worthwhile for you to spend just a few minutes after the episodes to discuss it. You are very entertaining and hearing your thoughts would be fun!
If you review that scene in ep.1, Mrs. Adler did not say "oatmeal" at all, just raisin. The cookie part still required flour. (Flour substitutes are another conversation Lol😅).
Aaaaand you officially met the Clickers, the 3° Stage in the Cordyceps infection. You get like that after a Year of being Infected usually. Althought they're completely blind (the Fungus plates grow in the face and replaces the eyes) they hunt using some sort of primitive Echolocation system (That's why you hear that "clicking" sound). In the game it's best to flee or stealth kill them, if they grab you and you are out of knives they automatically one shot you.
Great reactions. You gals are funny! btw the "clicker" refers to those at the 3rd stage of infection (1+ years). The first two stages are the "runners" and "stalkers". The 4th stage infected will be revealed in one of the upcoming episodes.
Great reaction! I just found your channel the other day and had to subscribe. You're doing an awesome job! I'm going to echo what some other people have suggested and say that you should give us your thoughts at the end of the video about what you watched. We're not just interested in the reaction itself but also what you think about what you saw. Can't wait to see the reaction to episode 3. Make sure you bring some tissues. It's probably the most emotional episode of television I've seen in a very long time.
Sarah DIDN'T eat the cookies. She liked chocolate chip, but they made oatmeal raisin, which she didn't, so she didn't eat any. She died when she was shot. Even if she had been infected, they work the same way in the show as they do in the game. They're still alive, and still have working cardiovascular systems. Trauma to vital systems kills them.
Important fact: Cordyceps fungus is very hard to erradicate, if a clicker shows up you could shot it right in the face 5 times and the clicker doesnt die. The fungus in their heads is more solid than kevlar
Ok you both are a blast! I have just recently gotten into watching reaction vids during my free time. This channel is now in my rotation. Liked & Subbed. Continue to be yourselves and genuine to your reactions. Hoping nothing but the best for the channel. 😄
The creator explained the kiss the kiss of death. It was to show if you attack the fungus or try to get away from it it will attack but if you do get do anything to it and calm it won’t attack and just try to spread calmly and not as violent. Just like in actual nature in real life.
OMG, Kiss is making me LMFAO. My wife has the same super sensitive gag reflex. She won't watch TLOU, but when ever she sees someone throw up on TV or the movies, and for sure in real life, she does the exact same gagging that Kiss does.🤣
Just to highlight the full gravity of the situation depicted in the intro, in 2003 Jakarta was a city of almost 9 million people, so when the mycology professor advised the military officer to "bomb" she was advising the Indonesian Government to murder 9 million of its own civilians..... and even then we get the sense that she didn't truly believe such a measure would stop the spread. How absolutely terrifying.
the fungus can only survive in a living host and Sarah never ate the cookies, she wanted chocolate chip but mrs adler made raisin soo she took em to be nice but probably threw em away
12:30 Joel didn't pull back his hand because he was scared of her touching him. He broke his hand beating the FEDRA guard to death and it hurt when she took his hand.
This show made me want to get one of those right angle flashlights. Also the game is more terrifying because you project yourself into the game since you control the character. It's really like you're there.
Yeah, I have to agree after the first episode, I’m really impressed you didn’t actually throw up. 🙌. To be frank the show has a lot in common with life. Like enjoy the bright spots. It makes the darkness easier to navigate and keeps you going!
when i saw the gag reflex in episode 1, i couldn't wait to see your reaction at the end of episode 2. the dry retching made me laugh at loud LOL. (btw, sarah didn't eat the cookies in episode 1 because she wanted chocolate chip but they were oatmeal ;) )
You two are awesome. Quickly becoming some of my favorite reactors. I don't think I've ever subbed to a channel so fast. I hope y'all haven't seen a lot of great TV so you can react to it on here. Which one is Kiss & which one is Haylo?? I'm sure some of the people here in the comments can tell me.
joel i think walked away before ellie at the end not cuz he was numb, but he was hurt from it alot more than ellie. i guess couldnt bear it and walking away and distancing himself from any pain is his coping mechanism/
Ok, you guys are cool. Judging by your reactions, it appears ya'll have not played the game. (Taps finger tips together rhythmically like Mr. Burns from The Simpsons) "Ehhhxcellent..."
Sarah never ate the cookies. But even if she had eaten them, she obviously died before she turned. Fungus can't bring people back. This is not the Walking Dead; if you are dead, you ain't coming back.
To some people, that still counts as spoiler. Better to just watch than give hints on content of episodes tbh. But anyways... now that it's been seen, can't change that. Good shout tho! Fellow Ep 3 lover.
@Onkar Indurkar I don't necessarily think I spoiled the episode. If I had spoiled it, then I would've gone into full detail of every nook and cranny of the episode, quoted a line of dialogue, introduced a new character, etc. I didn't do any of that. All I did was simply warn them that it might make them cry, seeing that they got emotional in this episode, I figured I'd give them a heads up that the next one might do the same. There's nothing wrong with that, right? Anyway I know this was kinda long but I'm just saying, there's no need to overreact to something as minor as a warning.
@@Dominic_Delta Any kind of information you give can be a spolier. Saying that the eipsode would make them cry is a spoiler. You are straight up telling them that it will have a sad story, or that something will happen that will make them cry. Saying something like that for the whole show is not as bad, but you are specifically talking about one episode.
honestly tlou is probably imo the best video game adaptation. it stays faithful to the source material while adding context and stuff for non game players
Honestly loved this version of tess... Loved this episode... It's mad they did clickers in an epic set piece and took tess at the end in a lower key more subdued but powerful set piece 😂 gotta appreciate that.. superb writing and casting ❤ the music throughout aswel fuk 😮❤
In the game it was actors doing the clicker noises, so I assume they did the same here. Though who knows whether it was the actors who were the clickers or if it was recorded separately.
