One of the best things to come out of this movie is the Peacemaker series. It's so unbelievable how they managed to turn this pretty one-note anti-hero into a three dimensional character you really understand.

James Gunn has a way to get to your heart with even the smallest of details. Like ratcatcher crying while holding a piece of cloth from polka dot man's suit. Not only shows how sweet ratcatcher is, but how sweet it is that this guy, who most definitely had no one to mourn his death a few days ago, now will be missed by at least one person.

I forget a lot of the details of it but if I remember correctly theres a comic where one of the little starro's survives a fight with the Justice League after the main Starro dies but has amnesia (because Starro is genuinely evil in the comics) and Batman ends up taking care of it naming it Jarro and makes him an honorary Robin. There's one panel in the comics where its Batman hugging him and it is absolutely adorable and one of the most heartwarming things I've ever seen in comics.

Thats the thing about villains, they're usually victims of circumstance and some see themselves as heroes in their own story. In this film we have: Peacemaker and Bloodsport, who were both raised to be the best killers. Ratcatcher II, who raised on the streets by a junkie villain(Ratcatcher I) Polkadot man, who was experimented on by his mother. Then we have King Shark(Nanaue), who's actually a demigod, son of the Shark God. It's not his fault he needs to eat lol. And Harlequin, who was a normal psychologist that just fell for her patient... at the asylum for the criminally insane, who then proceeded to torture her till she was just as insane.

Waller has done some pretty messed up things in the passed. Pretty sure she had a part in Ace's upbringing in Cadmus in justice league unlimited. That was really messed up. I really liked hearing your thoughts at the end, thanks for sharing your perspective. :) It’s so true what you said about how a supportive family makes a world of difference. But I feel like the idea of acknowledging areas of privilege does have merit in certain contexts? Particularly when it comes to illustrating how flawed our culture of “Everyone has the same level of opportunity, you just have to work hard!!!” is. Like for some folks it’s basically saying “we all had the same odds to win this race, you just have to run fast!!!” to someone who was forced to wait 100 metres behind the starting line lol (not impossible, just waaay harder). For people in positions of privilege who’ve internalized the whole “poor=lazy, just pick yourself up by the bootstraps” mantra, hopefully they’d gain more empathy by understanding that even if they worked just as hard, their current situation could have been totally different if they were born as a different race, gender, orientation, socioeconomic class, etc. But at the same time I totally get where you’re coming from, because the whole online discourse around privilege often devolves way too quickly into tallying up perceived privilege points and scolding whoever has more. It’s so frustrating because that approach just ends up creating unnecessary conflict and division among oppressed groups/the working class in general, which in turn fails to serve anyone except those who are already at the top. Ultimately, it’s important to be mindful of exactly what you said: Each of us is here for a purpose, and we could all stand to put more effort into understanding and empathizing with each other’s struggles.

Before I had seen Guardians of the Galaxy ,if you told me that a director wanted to make a Suicide Squad movie featuring Starro and Sylvester Stallone as King Shark I would have laughed in your face. I tried to explain this movie to someone and ended up sounding crazy. "So there's this giant mind-controlling star fish from space, right?" Yet, somehow, it just works. I just wanted to suggest that maybe it would be a good thing if you could stop and think for a while, maybe write the general ideas you want to touch before making the after-movie talking. Because you go around things for a while and it would be clearer if you could organize your ideas better. Also, improvising like you do has the risk that you could end up saying things that you wouldn't want, or that you don't notice you are saying. It happens a lot to everyone but I noticed that it happens more easily to people like us. Because of the way our attention works, and how passionate we are, we tend to speak too much when we get excited. Anyway, your reflection is very interesting, thanks.

You have some amazing and beautiful insight. Coming from love and stability are a privilege. But if you didn't have that, then you have another privilege. If you grew up having been taught deep down in your formative mind, that you are nothing, worthless, stupid, here is what you do have. I am not rich, or successful by any modern measure. But I have a superpower. That power was and is to tell my son I am proud of him. He is grown now, strong and confident, a kind caring man to a spouse and daughter of his own. And the greater part of that good comes from his mother. As parents, that simple power, to simply not break them, like we were broken, to never undermine their self worth, even when they mess up, and you have to be strict or disappointed with what they've done, that they still know they are loved. That is how we get back to a world of kindness again. And that feels like a Superpower to me.

They are offered time off their significant jail sentences if they agree to go on extremely dangerous, almost impossible missions where they will most likely be killed. One Idris Elba movie you should check out is called Takers. It's got "As mentioned" Idris Elba, along with: Michael Elay, Hayden Christensen, Zoe Saldana, Chris Brown, Tip T.I. Harris, and Paul Walker It was made in 2010 and I believe it is on Netflix (Don't Quote me)

Beasts of no nation = the movie of idris elba’s that you should watch. It got robbed by the Oscar’s because back then netflix movies weren’t allowed to be nominated.
