First Time Watching What We Do in the Shadows - My sweet Peter, you were too good for this world 

Thanks to everyone who informed me about "Wellington Paranormal", I do have access to all 4 seasons, I will react to probably just one episode on the channel. Any recommendations on what episode i should check out?

It’s funny you mention the I.T. Crowd because Matt Berry who plays Douglas is in the tv show version of What We Do in the Shadows which you should definitely watch

this is such a cult classic and rightfully so! I love how 90% of it was improv, Stu wasn't an actor and wasn't meant to be in it so much but they were just like "lol, let's have our bro and IT guy for the films in it for the funsies and specifically tell him NOT to take acting classes but just to ...do shit!", how they riled Rhys (Anton) up by making the nightshoot sooooo much longer than neccessary up to the point where he was genuinely so exhausted he got pissed off, how their budget was approx. 14,50 and they stole greenscreens and furniture and shit from the leftover hobbit set and how there's at least a 100 hours of unseen material Oh and...the vampires are all based on "classic" ones, like Vlad is obviously based on Dracula, then you've got Interview with a Vampire, Nosferatu, your twilight references, vampire diaries etc. It's just so, so brilliant! Thanks for the amazing reaction, I ADORED your genuine joy!

One of my fav movies/series The show takes the movie and just runs away with the concept, in an amazingly satisfying way. Keep up the good schitt my dude

I believe at one stage a sequel about the werewolves was under consideration. It would have been called "What we do in the moonlight"

And Stu is a boss! (Their actual special effects guy. Also did the Hela killing all the Valkyries and the Shadow World scenes in Taika's Thor movies)

34:50, It looks like the Deacon was ad-libbing the most over the top, silliest scenearios to make the guy playing Nick crack up, while you can see Nick trying so hard to keep a straight face and not burst into laughter.

The Big Kumara was a real bar in Wellington, that location in Cuba Mall was so many different bars over the years and they pretty much all sucked and closed down lol so that being the vampires' fave haunt is some classic Wellington humour. The SFX are good because Weta Workshop did them. Yes it's Jemaine Clement from Flight of the Conchords, also Rhys Darby who played Murray in FOTC as the alpha werewolf. And yes most of the movie was improvised lol.

You've prob already seen it and/or gotten a billion recommendations, but if you're going to dip your toes into early Taika and you have not seen Hunt For The Wilderpeople you should move that to the top of you list right away. There are 2 comedy movie scenes that in my mind represent the best comedy writing ever by letting simple, reasonable, and very believeable misunderstandings spiral into hilarity - "you're going the wrong way" from Planes, Trains & Automobiles and the cabin scene in HFTW. Don't know how he got Sam Neill to be in this movie before anybody outside of film school knew who he (Taika) was. And little Ricky Baker was a revelation too - so good that he was right away grabbed and added to the Marvel Universe..

This was a good bit of fun, the original movie, thanks! I like the way you have it overlayed during your commentary too. That's a good idea! I thought the 'shaming circle' was pretty funny. and the kind of compromise Iago could settle with better, being both the most inept and sensitive of the three (as sensitive as a vampire can be, of course :p). The new f/x production is really good and very, very funny. I recommend looking up a more recent scene featuring Colin and his emotional vampire girlfriend, (whose name I forgot quickly because she reminds me of a very passive-aggressive, emotional vampire I once knew IRL lol), having to stand trial before the Energy Vampires council. Colin is an engergy drainer, rather than a blood drainer, and he's got the role absolutely nailed. The master/familiar relationship is explored more between Gilluermo and Nandor the Relentless (or Nando 'de laurentis, if you're an inattentive local new reporter). I think they have managed a rare consistency in the show that, compared to other series, has mainted the kind of consistency in characters and plot lines that doesn't happen all that frequently. In the show, they've relocated to Staten Island, NY (lol!). How they've managed to keep it from getting stale is beyond me, but "Well Done" to them, I say. :)

What a strange video, only 5 minutes long. Hey, on an unrelated note, the What We Do In The Shadows show is pretty funny and in my opinion funnier than a movie with a similar premise might have been.

we have a tv series here called Wellington Paranormal based around the cops who show up lol. its a great watch in the cops style, like police ten 7 with sweetness and kiwiness and paranormal shizz

I hope you decide to react to the show. Unexpectedly, it's even better than the movie. As others mentioned, it keeps the concept but has different characters. The OG vampires make appearances from time to time. Many episodes are directed by the creators of the movie, which is awesome because it's not too Americanized. Three of the 5 main characters are from UK, which also helps with the feel of the show.

Lastly, if you liked the cops, they made their own X-Files like spin off "Wellington Paranormal". It's impossible to find (legally) in the states but you might have a better shot at it. (And Nick's in season 1)

If you like Jackie's arc in the movie you *really* ought to look at the TV show:)
