Thanks for sharing the adventure and the kids drama. So glad the little fella has a decent recovery. RSV is nasty, my son was in hospital for 3 weeks with it and now has childhood asthma due to the damage. Am very glad you weren’t in the same boat.

Great insight and reminders of the past - camping with kids

Adorable kids. My parents always camped with the 3 kids for years. We still camped with them after we were married and added our families also. I still have great memories of camping even years after my parents passed. They taught us so much on our trips around the United States. Keep enjoying the craziness. They make the best lasting memories.

Love that you brought the family in, as a Dad trying to work all this out it's great to see how you handle it! Even if your gear's a bit flasher than mine heh.

Gday cheech, well done on braving the travel and camping with the womb nuggets, hopefully little Huges is back to 100% by now. We have an 18 month old whos had 2 or 3 trips to caravan parks but we have a 3 weeker to Exmouth comin up mid Sept, and as prepared as i think i am, im absolutely stone cold petrified of snakes, spiders, rocks that are too sharp or slippery, heights, sticks, anything and everything that could possibly cause harm to him, especially if help is hours away. Stay safe and camp on 🤟

Life is about experiences - & starting those early with the kids is so important. 5 of ours squeeze into combo of caravan & swag & we have some amazing trips. Plenty of challenges along the way - lots of learning to be had. Keep them going guys

Van is the way to go with Kids and infants . We had a Soft floor camper and a make shift inverter with golf cart batteries for bottle warmers but you make it work for the outdoors . Great watch cheers

Adventures with kids are interesting. My youngest is now 9 and we love camping when we have the opportunity. Glad to hear your son is on the mend. It’s sucks seeing them in discomfort and pain.

Great episode, brought back memories of one of our trips with 'KIDS'. 4yr old with Gastro. But as they say, the good memories out weigh the bad. Sun sets will always smell better than a day old nappy.

It's a ton of work, but worth it. We started camping with our boys at 2 and 4, still going with us at 17 and 19. The set up you have is brilliant and makes it so much easier. Imagine trying to set up tents and a kitchen with the wee ones, ah good times.

Love it! You have the setup I’m figuring out; car, hybrid van, and 2 adults 2 kids (4.5 and 1.5yr old). How do you manage to fit all the weights to be legal with car?

Congrats on the camping mission. Your right, with kids everything is completely different. I also agree with a caravan over a camper. Minimal set up and pack down is awesome. I have 3 kids and 2 dogs. We recently upgraded to a caravan. Best decision ever. Keep up the good work. It will get easier.

We feel your pain! Nothing worse than sick 'kids' on any holiday and camping just adds another layer of challenge. Our experience was 3 Easters in a row with the middle daughter getting croup each time - all in southwest WA and all in different regional hospitals. Lucky we have such great health care. On the upside this holiday will stay in your memories - for good and bad reasons and you will still look forward to your next family camping trip with such a great set up 😊

I’ve got a H16 on order. I enjoy watching your adventures so I can get to know the van before delivery. You show how you’ve got plenty of water and electrical power however, I wonder about the “other” end. With the amount of time you were all off grid how do you manage the toilet cassette? Did you have two? Or did you have to remove and find a dump point etc?

You guys did well camping with 2x young kids. I've done a 2 week trip with my boys, and even though they were 7 and 9, it was not easy.

I don’t have ‘kids’ (or a Mrs for that matter) so my Cub Scout towed by a Mitsubishi challenger is quite adequate (I’m doing the Oodnadatta track in July with it). However I would probably think about that van or similar if money was no issue simply for the indoor plumbing

Get yourself an oz tent screen dome, it’s a game changer when the flies are in abundance.

If I recall, the 1st family trip in the camper trailer didn’t go well for the kids either. You need to skip the 1st trips and go straight to the 2nd 🤦‍♂️

Don't worry about running the van, you can run a house on that power setup 😅 It's still camping but it's just with so much more luxury, like the coffee machine 😍👌🏼 Gotta get those "kids" out and about aswell and show them everything from a young age 👌🏼

Kids. This reminds me of the time we were camping at Pambula and in the morning my youngest (about 7 at the time) fainted on the beach and we had to call the lifeguards and get an ambulance out. Good times! 😂😂 These end up being the stories you tell later (she’s now 29.)

Mmmm extra bug protein in the meal. 5:00 Certainly looks like 'Dad in the morning' to me. I have to admit I have never seen an awning tested quite that way before :) As long as everything turns out well in the end, bad trips are always great stories to tell around a campfire later on. I do now understand why I decided kids were not for me though LOL.

Difficult to watch! Camping with young children is quite the effort from experience. The caravan would make it a little easier. I think the location you choose to camp needs to adjust to groups experience and setup. Well done!

3 very different camp sites all with their own pros and cons. It's a shame Murchison H/S was so over run with bugs, it's an amazing place to explore. Pretty much every terrain you could want to experience with some amazing wildlife. Our kids have loved it every time, except when my son stood on a bull ants nest 😬🐜🐜🐜

Camping when you’re young (and probably short on cash) usually tends to be very basic. But as people age, their needs/wants become different. By the time people are around 40, their finances become better and technology has now caught up to support those needs. I used to sleep in a swag, but now moved to canopy and rtt with all the fruit. It’s all “camping,” just different ways of doing it now. However, I personally wouldn’t have a caravan because it severely hinders the places you can go.
