First Wash in 18 Years!! (Abandoned 69' Camaro part#2) 

You've to be the luckiest guy on the planet with these finds. First the $600 Motor home baited me in, then a 69 Camero. I am a homeless Vet and I would live in the Bus and Drive that Camero. I had a 67 SS Back in Highschool. Got to say I am a little Jealous!

If the block and trans are matching the car , keep it original :). That green looks good, all clean and in the sun.

307 was the base V-8 for Camaro in 69! Below them was the 250 straight 6! Z-28 model's had the 302, which was a performance small block, but the 307's were boat anchors! Surprised if it is still a 307, most were pulled and 350's put back in! Check the #'s, before you do any work on it! That car would require a lot of work to make it a #'s matching restoration and then it will not bring the #'s at resale, to re-coupe what you put in it! Resto Mod it makes way more sense! LS swap it, or BB swap it! But that is just the tip of the iceberg, everything will have to be gone thru! If it is the original 307 someone put the intake and quaddrapuke on, it explains the fouled plugs, as it washed the cylinders down, wore out the rings, letting the oil foul the plugs! One thing you did not do, is check the blow-by, when you got it running! Or a compression check! Pull the motor and transmission, if #'s matching, and keep them, and LS swap with a 4L80, makes the most sense, money wise, and drivability wise!

wow the Camaro cleaned up good, the door and roof are the last pieces of the puzzle and most commenters are funny this is your friends car and is on a budget for sure , as person commented you can do the valve seals without removing the heads they're easy to do just take some time and that may clear up your oily spark plug problem, this 307 was originally an Oldsmobile engine, just a stroked 283 and made ok power more of a cruiser motor then speed , if you find a good carb shop some of the old school boys will do it for a very reasonable dollar which helps out you and your buddy and you can get a big battery from O'Reilly's for 50 bucks and 4 yr warranty , a water pump for this is under 50 bucks, so you can do allot of work on this for not allot of money, the sunroof install was just the thing back in the day and was cheap to do, the seal for it is sold many places yees it would look better without it and to close it in it has to meet the state vehicle inspection and Colorado is one of the toughest states now to get safeties passed, i know its not my car i wouldn't even be concerned about it unless it leaks from rainfall , even then you can reseal it under the edge of the rubber temporarily to save the roof from ant further damage from water, this car is going to make for some fantastic future videos for sure, and look forward to them, Keep 'em coming 👍😎

Someone beat me to it. Repair the roof, expensive but it will increase its value if Done Right. Love the color had it on my 68ss Rally green w/white stripes. Years ago I used to buy tags at car/swap shows just for the color and options! One of the hardest type of cars to get for a period piece in film. Are just the basic ones. Today if you look real good at a film made to look like the past, they are all high-performance versions! That's not how it was...

Anything but an ls...great engines (I have one) but the burnout factor is real. Every show now, it's just a sea of ls swapped everything. Modding the 307 would actually be interesting, so see what you could do with it.

Just a little soap and water makes the 'ole girl sparkle like an emerald! I was surprised you said Colorado doesn't salt the roads, I thought for sure you guys would have but if you don't need it then all the better especially for the cars. Here in Virginia they use salt and some kind of brine mix and we might might a few inches every few years, not the tons of snow that other states get on a regular basis. But hey, this is Virginia and half the people are from someplace else and most of those can't drive in clear weather much less anything with a little snow or rain, they tend to end up in the ditch like Dale Earnhardt Sr. just gave them a courtesy tap to get out of the way. I'm loving this Camaro project and can't wait until the next video!👍

Your some good friend to do this. Another thing to clean an engine is a cheap can of oven cleaner from family dollar cost $1.00 .

I wouldnt worry about doing any mods to the car. Its just a base model 307, so whatever you decide to do to it will not hurt the value like the roof does. Front power disc brakes would be a good thing

if the drivetrain is numbers matching then pull it and keep it for value, but bolt in a 454 with a efi kit and a nice 6 speed, please don't LS swap it that's too damn common now

I left a 68 rally sport in my dads driveway covered up when I moved to New York in perfect shape. My dad was the original owner and it was matching numbers except the engine I put in it. When I went back 15 years later it looked like the interior had been on fire. Cover had rotted off and sun destroyed interior. I sold it at that time for $15000 along with the original engine. Probably could’ve got more but I only had a week to clean out the yard after my parents had passed.

Looks much better cleaned up, probably increased the fuel mileage also 😜 Yes, I’d fill that old sunroof modification as those are just a leak waiting to happen.

wow looks 100% better after wash, I cant wait to follow this Camaro, as I had a 69 Camaro SS Same color green with black strips, the I got from a one owner in 1977, Keep it till 1979 when I went into the Army,,I could kick myself for not putting it in storage I sold it in 79 for 1,000 dollars more then I paid for it... so I cant wait to see this Camaro come back to life.

Good looking Camaro. I agree about the sunroof..

The 307 won't benefit from a 4bbl carb and offy manifold, because the valves and ports are tiny. A 307 is not the same as a 327. Most '69 Camaros got painted that frog-green in the 70s, even if they had a decent color originally. An 80s custom van shop probably did the leaky sun-roof. But with a lot of work, this nice solid Camaro has huge potential. Hope it doesn't get wrecked as a future daily driver in today's traffic.

A lot of cars got sun roofs put in them back in the day….it was commonly done..that camaro is in great shape…some new weatherstripping..carpeting..interior etc..if the floors are solid..drivetrain work…a nice project….worth fixing up for sure.

Back in the 70`s & 80`s a lot of shops installed aftermarket sunroofs. Personally, I disliked them.

Come Out great👍get rid of the glas roof and install a metal power roof.(an ultra rare option).If this should fail you can still install a new roof panel

If its not numbers matching, why would you put a fuel injection system on it thats worth more than the engine? The 307 is a dog.... numbers matching or not. Get yourself a mid 70s 454...with the right cam and intake along with that EFI system you could make respectable power for not alot of money. That particular series 454 were put in trucks and campers so they are easier to find, they have good torque and still bring big block appeal if the guy ever wants to sell it .

build a nice small block everyone is doing LS swaps thats over done if you ask me build a nice 350 old school !!!

I know a lot of folks do not like the LS swap idea since it has been done to death, but there is a reason for it. Fairly cheap easy swap with lots of bang for the buck. Maybe see how existing motor runs assuming it has hardened exhaust seats and concentrate on the body. Looks like time has not been kind and will be a can of worms.

you might change the valveseals witout pulling the heads...

Can't go wrong with a big block if the 307 is shot.

The 307 is a often over looked engine as far as preformence put in a master rebuild kit and 650 Holley or similar 9.5 to 10 compression the emreld is perfect name her Emmey

put the boat anchor 307 in a pick up truck 6.0 all the way with modern fuel injection and a turbo...

2800 PSI because thats good for the paint...lol

Really like that Camero! Not a fan of green on cars but it really suits the era and car. Definitely upgrade to EFI as that is a really good sympathetic upgrade without ruining the car. Great video

307 will probably never be worth as much as other versions. So if I had the ability I would probably keep the motor/trans just in case but do the LS swap for better all around daily driveability. I mean if those parts are cost effective/available, otherwise rebuild the 307.
