First wash in 30 years, road testing our 64 Dart station wagon 

So great to see the whole family working, joking , laughing and learning together, making good memories. Great parents showing your kids how to work , enjoy being together. It is not the destination but the journey.

We had a 1965 Dart Station wagon. Lived on a dirt road so we had mud grip tires on the rear. My mother was fearless in that thing. Go through anything. Carried us all over Texas, New Mexico and Colorado with 3 kids and a tent. I thought ours had the 225 engine but I could be wrong. Wasn’t much for speed but could climb Colorado mountains to Elk hunt. Very fond memories of that silly car

I like the way you’re walking with your kids

The dots represent the high point on the tire. It should be oriented 180 across from the valve stem. The DOT numbers indicate the location of the factory they were built in, the size code. And the last 4 digits indicate the week and the year. For instance, 1222 would indicate the tire was built in the 12th week of 2022. Get you a pop up camper and take a road trip.

Gotta love an old wagon of any make and model! That bulletproof 6 reminds me of a guy that used to run at Knoxville Dragway, he drove a 60s Valiant with a built 225 he called 6 shooter! Quick little car for a 6 banger!!!

I remember when I was a teenager,in the early 60’s I had a 53 Chevrolet and when I had a flat tire I would go to the county store and would have to break the bead by running over it just right then I would use the jack handle to unmount one side to get the tube out then find the hole go inside the store and buy a hot patch then put it on and light it,while it was cooling I would drink a coke (I hadn’t learned about RC yet)then put the tire back together and be on my way. I think you should let WaWa drive some too.

I really love your 60's cars. At my age the 50's, 60's, and early to mid 70's cars are my favs. Not saying I'm old but I knew dirt when it was still a stone. Never understood why all the auto makers made square body cars in the 80's. Maybe the design engineer s of that era grew up playing with Legos and it became ingrained that everything had to be made like a cube. 😂

Those tires are the same ones I have on my 63 Dart convertible. I think they're about the only tire that comes in 13 inch auto tire.

Hope someone will go completely through that little wagon so it'll continue on surviving. It'd really make a great grocery getter for momma with some neat wheels, or even the dog dishes are cool since they're so uncommon now.

I gotta mention, I love cars especially from the 50s and 60s. I'm not a mechanic, but after seeing a couple of videos of people restoring vintage automobiles I realize I would've loved to learn a thing or two about it. For me this is all such a wholesome video, having all the family involved, and bringing a car from the dead, cleaning it up and back on the road like that was simply terrific.. I wish you all the best and I hope your son follows your passion to restore and fix cars and becomes a mechanic or something. Much respect, and greetings from a Cuban in Florida.

Great car that engine normally are very good and easy to repair

That floor pan reminds me of my dad's Ford Coupe with a rumble seat. Floor had rotted away and we braced ourselves on the back of the front seat. Road beneath us going past at a terrifying speed. I was only 3 or 4 at the time. Scarred me for life LOL. Regards from South Africa

get the sheet metal for the lower quarters patch up the rest with sheet metal some bondo some duraglass and shoot it massy ferguson red impliment paint and pass it on to one of the kids as a high school ride. The two mismatched wheels are probaly off a valiant or baracuda.

Years ago we had a 1978 Volarie wagon with a slant six. Best motor in ever made. They even used them in some farm machinery because they were so dependable.

Would ask what has been your best investment so far? Some would say tools, perhaps the power washer? I would say your family. You have the best wife in the world. She tirelessly films you and hangs out with you. That’s priceless. Your kids too, Ralphie always involved and willing to always help out. The girls help out too but not always. I fixed the floor pan in a pickup buy power washing, wire wheeling, rust converting. Then got rabbit cage wire covered the holes and fiber glassed over it. Worked great!

My wife's grandmother, R.I.P. to both of them, built her house five feet off the ground, because she was terrified of snakes, same with my wife as well, but after she did that she found out snakes could climb, the hard way. You should become a car dealer, so you can legally test drive all of your old cars, but on second thought they don't go very fast, so maybe Farm Plates woodwork, lol

The back drivers door on my 61 Buick got stuck right after I bought it 2 yrs ago. After watching today's video, I decided to have another go at it. I pushed the button on the handle and tugged as hard as I could, and it finally opened. Thanks for the inspiration.

Amazing how sold that frame is on that car. The Lichen growing on it happens to any vehicle left in one place too long so 30 years you have lichen growing until it moves out of a semi damp area. Real great clean up job. As always an entertaining video.

I think the metal used to patch the floors is mobile home skirting. It has the imitation cut stone block pattern, so people will look at the mobile home and say "wait a minute, is that a medieval stone castle? Nope, it's a mobile home."

It is fun to watch you and the whole family tackling all the different projects, showing the ads, dealing with all the animals, you bring something that nobody else can. Would like to see the turbo coupe and Fairmont again to see where you are at, and even the F100. The stuff growing on that car looked like it had been out to sea too long, I've seen boats with less. I really enjoy your videos. Very relaxing to watch. We always did everything as a family like you guys. I had three sons now 43, 40 and 38 who are all mechanical. Out of 8 grandkids only one is mechanical. My 9 year old grandson Raiden. I had a really good mechanical mentor growing up that owned a Conoco gas station not far from my house. This was when there were gas wars selling regular for 25 cents. The guy thought I was a pest at first but then he realized I wanted to learn all about being a mechanic so he started showing me how to do repairs hands on. His name was Don Crandall. A very patient guy who let me learn by making mistakes. He also taught me patience. He would say that car could care less if you are mad, sad or glad so why worry about it. I live by that to this day. I rebuilt my first engine at age 14. Ground the valves, Knurled the guides and honed the cylinders myself. Put it together and bam it started right up and ran. Keep up the good work. Thanks

Great videos. Good fun to watch. I'm not sure why they popped up in my feed but I had a look at the RV road trip one to start with and now a bit of mechanicing. My goto for years has been Watch Wes Work but these have a similar feel but with added goat.

For floor pans simply buy some sheets of tin, then cut the length and width you need and attach with metal screws or use bolts

The patch panels are tin ceiling panels.

I found a 2 door 64 Dart, it has some serious floor rot, I looked on line and can't find any patch pieces, so I shied away from it. I'm thinking now, maybe buy it, cut out the bad, weld in some support then cover with sheet metal and weld it in as well then coat the underside and paint the inside. The car's body is straight and very little rust. Just the floor is bad. Well, the engine hasn't been run in about 5 years, and the transmission (auto) is bad that's why it was parked. I don't know which 6 it has the 170 or the 225. A friend has a machine shop and has a 225, engine. He took it out of a 75 Dodge dart. Don't know if he has the transmission or not. I haven't been able to find parts for the transmission either. But a later transmission will work, so I'm not concerned about that. Just a whole lot of work I may not want to take on. I figure if someone else buys it before I make up my mind, that's ok to.

If I may suggest, when mounting tires/casings on freshly painted wheels, mount with the wheels upside down so the mounting bar doesn't scrape the paint off of the outer rim. Also, it would be a lot quieter with floorboards. Lol

between you and mortske, I am slowly learning that engines dont HAVE to have 8 cylinders. still my preference, but i am learning! good job once again buddy.

Suggestion: go to a wreckin yard and buy a selection of mufflers for your projects--clamp em on and your cars will be much improved for a very small investment. Carry on!

Are you certain that's a 170 slant 6? The 170 badges on that car represent the trim level options. The 170 slant 6 has a water pump bypass hose that's about 1 inch long as opposed to over 2 inches long for the 225. Rubber floor mats didn't help keep the floor pans from rusting.

That metal on your floor looks like what I've heard called Tennessee v seal. A common metal roof material but not really thick enough for floorplan use. As always,thanks for a great video on a neat car. I love the early compacts!

I'm not a big fan of darts, but this model being a station wagon I would drive this car with pride. I just love the look of it. The body lines and the back gate and Windows look great. The roof rack looks great. Just need some body work and then a repaint. If I find me one to restore I would go really old school and do a two tone paint job on it. Keep up the great work and content.

Great Video Josh. Always enjoy them and get a laugh or two. In Australia we had the slant sixes in our early Valiants. The best engines were the 265 Hemi straight 6 with triple Webber carburettors. The Valiant AP5 or AP6 Safari Wagons were cool, they are equivalent to your Dodge Dart.
