In this timely discussion, we delve into the critical issues hindering Pakistan's economic growth and propose actionable solutions for a brighter future. Join us as we explore the detrimental effects of fiscal deficits on the country's economic landscape and how governance reform can pave the way for sustainable development.
As Pakistan's annual budget takes shape, it's crucial to address the root causes of its economic challenges. We analyze the impact of fiscal deficits on key indicators such as GDP growth and investment climate, highlighting the urgent need for reform.
But it's not just about economics. We also shine a spotlight on the social ramifications of fiscal mismanagement. With Pakistan grappling with the highest infant mortality rate and prevalence of stunting in the region, it's clear that economic policies have far-reaching consequences on the well-being of its people.
Mr. Mathew Verghis presents specific reform recommendations aimed at tackling fiscal deficits, enhancing governance structures, and ultimately improving socio-economic outcomes. From fiscal discipline measures to transparency initiatives, we explore a range of strategies designed to revitalize Pakistan's economy and uplift its most vulnerable populations.

Sir, Pakistan is a garrison state(Dr Ishtiak Ahmed) and therefore a garrison economy. It requires wars to sustain and grow its economy.

Actually, this bald man with glasses is an apologist of privatisation in Pakistan. How shamefully he said that Pakistan has to do more in terms of taxation. The people of Pakistan are giving a huge amount of direct and indirect taxes. If we look at the PPP of Pakistan and india, india is much higher but there are less taxes compared to Pakistan. Pakistanis are giving RS 140 tax on just 1 liter of petrol, taxes on houses, cars education and mobile recharge, interalia. Instead of taxing the vast majority who are middle class Pakistanis, tax the elites and tax them heavily. Moreover, improve the leaky tax system and for that accountability is must.
