yes, the gestural approach to the work seems fluid and quick but tells of an extreme understanding of space, shape, mass and of their very purposeful hand. Not to mention the attention to line weight, it's really eye candy.
truly! when i get the cash i'll most definitely lend the money to the see the art book, its just an absolutely aweing game. i cant help to wonder what happened behind the scenes.
I know this is an old comment but I completely agree! The chat is absolutely terrible! I don't know if he's filming this on twitch and then uploading it to youtube but it really seems like half the chat is troglodytes who are just like haha whale get alcohol from plants. 😂 What the heck is wrong with them? This is a fantastic work of sci-fi! I definitely hope he does part 2 and doesn't let the vocal low iQ people who didn't understand or like it keep him from reacting.
Film lighting technician here, the window could be fixed by using shears. They work as natural diffusion and look decent. Also, if you want the open window look, you could apply an ND filter to the window. It will darken the room, but the window will probably be balanced better
I really like this kind of storytelling. Told like a documentary, it really gave the sense of realness of the unreal creature. The art style was simple, yet it shows it’s mastery. The way the artist/artists portrayed the emotions of exhausted unborn whale and then shown it happy and oblivious, as well as the tiredness of his mother. It’s not easy to show animals emotions that well. I really liked the watercolor vibe of the womb. The way it shown pretty static moments with little changes in narration was sometimes creepy, cause these things were shown as normal. No shock, no weirdness, all like a emotionless documentary. I like the moment when the calf looked at the bird it was full of real nature, brutal but also pretty. That’s what I liked the most, the naturalism portrayed here. It wasn’t showing nature as innocent and cute, animals die, injures happen, survival of the fittest thrives it’s best. It was all present even if the animal was fictional. Thank u AVNJ and the person who asked for it for showing us this masterpiece!
I especially like the little hints at human society in this universe. Like...what do you mean cephlopods have been culled in the past? Why are you describing them as "possessed of a devious and cruel intelligence" that's a weird thing to say.
@@Dougles_prospecting The first vid I commented south scrimshaw on was the “Hatching Caviar” one from 4 weeks ago :P I’ve been doing this on RU-vid which he doesn’t upload everyday, I count 1 vid as 1 day, but I might’ve missed a few too due too time zones😅
What a coincidence that AVNJ uploads this on the day I first saw a whale solely from chance alone. And you can tell from the fact that he’s quiet for most of the video that he’s actually interested in the game.
I absolutely adore the attention South Scrimshaw has been getting! I find the art style so charming, and the attention to world-building detail is downright glorious!
While the Ribbonsnaw might be made up, the Snorb is an actual animal in Australia You really should check out the National Geographic episode dedicated to this fascinating mammal.
I played this game a while ago and absolutely loved it. It kinda reminds me of the Monument Mythos and the likes. I can't wait for the next part but the creator said it'll be awhile since it's only them doing the work. Even bought the art book they have up too because it's amazing and to help support them even if it's just by a little bit.
I feel like "why would you add that" is a rather odd question in a game that pretty much is a watchable book. he adds it because it's details to the world he's built and to the story he's crafting. It may seem like an odd detail but we're learning about this "alien version of a whale" and it's told like a documentary so any detail about said creatures makes sense to tell.
I’m glad you enjoyed it AVNJ! I was really nervous you’d find it boring🥲, it’s the type of thing that many may not enjoy unless they like stuff such as world building, sci-fi, art, or just watching documentaries in general. Personally, I’ve always loved nature documentaries, I’m also into art and all that so this was like hitting a jackpot for me. I really hope you play more! The next chapters are reeeeaaally interesting
You can see it all on youtube, it is also free online (officially as well, the steam version is more for supporting the creator). I recommend, it, as Mr.Fish Bioliogist skipped a few things by missing hyper links from his rapid clicking.
I definitely recommend clicking the white text more, and using your mouse to scroll to prior pages (this isn't mentioned in the game, for some reason, I left a review on that.) The white text offers nearly whole new sections of content and its pretty interesting, some of the content even goes beyond just the ocean and even mentions humans and interspace travel. I really hope more people respect this story, it was heart breaking seeing so many people in the chat say pretty rude or judgy things about this realistic fiction graphic novel. It truly is a very good game and provokes just the right responses from the audience. Honestly the only thing I didn't expect people to be weirded out by was the nursing? I feel like describing how thick nursing milk is from a water-habitant mother would be essential to telling the audience how the baby is able to nurse under the water AND tell us a more approximate fat content. People who make nursing weird gross me out, and are pretty much the same reason women cant nurse their children in public.
It’s funny you say that because I heard that they are remaking the Snow White movie but shes black. And of course there are much much worse changes to the story. but this one just holds more irony in the situation.
@@demetriam2408 it doesn’t matter. I just thought it was ironically funny. Also do you know this guy, how do you know he wasn’t talking about the character?
Just get a blackout curtain and use a strong tape to keep it covered. I've done that to my bedroom window and have it cut in the middle to allow me to be reach in to open or shut the window.
I asked the creator of this if the lil whale had a name in universe or out of the story (got a response) If i remember correctly the whale doesn't have a name as to keep it less human like BUT at one point it would have been Darwin and then later Charles i personally like to refer to them as Darwin now even if I know officially they don't have a name :D I do think its a reference to Charles Darwin
I watch this shit when I'm more baked than a cake. But dude are YOU high?!?! Talking about needing another towel when you can just hang the towel VERTICALLY and cover the window 😭😭😭😭 I felt like I just watched a kid try to put a circle into a rectangle hole 😭😭😭😂😂😂💀
"Judging by yadda yadda it seems this mother has recovered already from a similar injury." "... it is likely this is her first born calf" So you're sayin the Brillo whale get frea-keh yyeehh
Oc it's THAT window. Wtf it's in the center of frame and it only gets better when your head is in the way for a prolonged period of time. (Enough time for your web cam to adjust to the better lighting of you head blocking the window)
