That. Was. Amazing. I’m a story teller and let me tell you, characters matter the most, not the plot. In the plot they were just swimming to the destination. But every character was different. Mother had a desire to protect her child while the calf was playful and wanted to have fun. That’s why the story hits the most. Mother died but was able to protect the calf until the very end. She fulfilled her desire, even if she paid the highest price. That event destroyed the calf. It was traumatizing. He witnessed a death of not a random fish, but other calf so similar to him. It could’ve been him if not his mother. What is even better, is that the other mother couldn’t protect her child but survived, so she is the weaker one, but alive. If only not the wound the green mother would have been alive. That’s why I love the suspense in this story. It’s at its finest. At the beginning we knew that mother had a wound and were just waiting for a disaster to strike. We also knew of silhouette roaming in the distance, heard how powerful predator it is, and we’re just waiting for it to strike. Suspense is most of times greater than plot twist because imagine a situation where people are having a business meeting and now boom plot twist, bomb was under a table and they died. U were shocked but emotions lasted for a short time. Now imagine the same situation, but you know about the bomb from the very beginning, listening to their conversation mixed with nervous ticking of the bomb. Isn’t it more stressful? That’s why this story is sick. It does suspense really good. Also the art is amazing. The scene where the calf died was really well drawn. Thank u AVNJ for playing it!
It doesn't just do suspense very good, but exposition as well, focusing on facts that are relevant to the whales/characters when they are told and keeping it short and to the point. So many bad writers shoehorn in exposition at random as well as drawing it out by using too many words to explain what should be a simple concept and not keeping it relevant to the plot at hand.
@@blondbraid7986 yeah exacly right! We know they have to swim that way and from the beginning calf is told to be close to his mother. That’s so great how this story unfolds
Please click on the white highlighted texts! They give some really interesting bits of world building and I think it’s really worth it!! That said, it’s great seeing you cover the series, especially as someone that can appreciate the more technical bits of speculative biology.
love this game so much, the shift in feeling from safety to danger you get from this, the art changing and even the narrator's speech seeming so emotionless and scary even though it's the same as always, the little to no sounds- truly awesome.
It's interesting that the mother whale sacrifices herself to save her offspring, as it's incredibly rare in the animal kingdom, the only reason humans do it is because we can see other humans being willing to take care of an abandoned/orphaned baby, whereas in most other species, a baby animal would likely die alone, making a motherly sacrifice pointless. So, does this imply that the brillo whales has some form of communal calf rearing and/or that adoption is common in their species?
It's also possible the mother didn't quite realize how much damage she would sustain trying to save her calf considering she probably would have been totally fine if she wasn't already injured beforehand.
AVNJ you need to click on the highlighted sections as they give more information regarding the highlighted topic. heck last episode you missed a section regarding the lore of seabunnies.
I would certainly play it yourself or watch a no commentary playthrough then come back. Sole reason being he hasn't clicked on any of the highlighted text, which gives a lot of really cool information, and is likely about 20 or so minutes skipped, maybe a little more.
The mother dying was heart breaking, on top of that other calf getting eaten. But seeing the stone whale come back for the other calf was a comforting kind of feeling.
about the light, you should put it behind your camera or monitor, if you're in front of a wall it should distribute the light and the video quality should look better
I love how due to your occultation, your kinda equally empathetic and apathetic to both the whales and the shark cause you know that neither are a villain or hero. This is a fictional narrative but also an exploration of actual animal behaviors and journeys- likes real documentary. So you hold no true attachment as it’s just predator and prey
Quality of the cam changes more than likey due to camera sensitivity going up when there is not enough light. Best would be to somehow check if the webcam has software something like logitech has logitech hub where you can manually change the sensitivity/exposure etc. if not maybe use the lamp and put sheet of paper between it and you in your direction to act like a diffuser for the light? or something alongs those lines so the light is not that sharp but is still there.
Great video my friend I have a suggestion to em what to react next goji Center megalodon vs mosasaurvfrom Jurassic world he really knows how to analyze to create epic battles
