This is a great video. I am just a housewife and I followed these steps and it only took me about three hours. Tips: Be very careful to keep something over any of the holes leading to the inside of the boat. I had to play Operation twice with my fish hook removers to retrieve a plug and a screw and one of the rings travelled down a wire through the mounting hole and that was a pain. It was backwards anways so there was that. So… Be sure to do as he says and put the seal rings facing the right direction. Think it through. I’ve never crimped wires so that gave me a lot of trouble. The butt connectors provided were hard to work with. His looked much better. The dummy plugs on the mounting hole covers kept falling out. I got so frustrated I super glued them. I figure I can deal with that later if I ever need the extra holes. Elmers glue or anything less permanent but sticky would work. Duct tape? I was mad and it was all I could think of. Listen to his advice about not over tightening the screws on the mounting hole covers. I stripped one because I was overzealous and I forgot he said that. The track ball mounting plate I got didn’t come with nuts and bolts nor did the fish finder. I scrounged and found some in the household junk I never throw away. So if you’re prepared with better butt connectors, a crimping tool and 4 nuts and bolts, along with the drill and other stuff, this should only take an hour tops. Oh and the hook remover, Lol!

So, this video is still being recommended, in 2024, for the installation of a Lowrance Triple Shot transducer into a Hobie PA 14 360 Guardian plate…but it is no longer compatible and the parts included with my new 2023 Hobie no longer work with the Triple Shot transducer. I have the guardian plate pulled from my kayak and find the nose guard doesn’t properly cover the front of the transducer and the mounting arms will not accept the wider transducer mount. Why no update? Why no warning? Now what??? Very disappointing that Hobie does not provide the consumer a heads up.

Those transducers have threaded inserts in them. You can just drill holes in the plate to mount it. Instead of making extra special mounting extensions and brackets ( and then using zip ties to secure the back ( SMH ) Are these kayaks so damn expensive because you have to pay "Engineers" to over complicate and add extra parts that make the kayak just that much more expensive?! I swear Hobie makes its money by building the same exact boat for decades and just creating more "problems" to solve with expensive Hobie branded adapters and accessories.

So you buy a 5K kayak, & 2K sonar to find the fish, and fit it with the most rusty old pliers and pitted chrome screwdrivers found in the junk pile???????? Do better guys, could have been a great sponsor video, & a display of cool tools you will need to service your kayak that will last a lifetime. But what would I know!
