Fish Rescue! There are Fish Stranded In The Puddles In the Woods!

This is a bit of a different video. During my last session fishing the small stream in the woods I noticed there was some water left over by the recent flooding. In that water there seemed to be lots of small fish that had stranded in holes made by fallen trees! So this session I decided to dedicate a couple hours to try and catch some of these fish, identify them and move them to a more permanent home!

5 liter water bottle as a fish trap would be an idea. Leave one in each tree bottom for 48hrs and you'll get loads out

Speaking as someone who would move a snail or worm from the footpath if I thought they were about to be stood on, I appreciate this! Mind you, I was waiting for one of your 4lb chub to take one of the sticklebacks on the way in.......

Chris, I have used hooks 28 and 30 - NOW THEY ARE TINY! - to an 8oz Bayer bottom. On a warm summers day with not much happening, I went for a wander and saw a Pike about 1 1/2lb - 2lb laying under a bridge. I picked up my pole, and from my net placed a 3" skimmer on a 28 hook and dropped it in front of it - Pike grabbed it immediately! - played that pike out on the pole with NO elastic. Not proud of it now as I was young at the time - and a Pike that size was a BIG fish for me - but the size 28 was smack in the scissor so I never lost it. Wiser now - 40lb braid for Lures and 58lb Braid for Pike on Deadbaits alongside 28lb and 40lb traces dependent upon the method. But we all learn somehow............

You’ve literally taken me back to my childhood. My first fishing rod was a piece of cane, with cotton attached, a bent pin and a worm dug from the garden catching minnows from the local brook.

Great video as always. Maybe put in a simple fishtrap with some bait in each pool to catch the rest? 0,5-1l plastic bottle where U cut off the top and put it back reversed. This way u can show us the put in and take out during å fishing video from the creek for example

Brilliant video, really took me back . I used to catch minnows and sticklebacks with just a small piece of worm and no hook. They would scoff the worm and not let go as I pulled them out of the pond. That is a very environmentally friendly way to control the mosquito population. One small pond can accommodate gazillions of larvae.

Takes me back to my childhood ...some 60yrs ago when I used to fish for sticlebacks in an old millpond. Using a garden cane as a rod, cotton for line a bent pin with a tiny hooked end ( self created hook ) and would you believe a matchstick for a float ! Had hours of fun.... this created my love of nature & fishing.

I really enjoyed that m8 excellent idea putting em in your pond because they one day may have ended up in there through nature as all it takes is a couple eggs on a herons foot to splash in the water and away you go but I thought it was a really cool thing released half and keeping some for a lift almost natural pond where they will not just survive but thrive, I don't know how big they get but I'd love to see how they progress over time.

We have the same situation here Chris. When the top of the river turns to one giant Lake ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qbBxHXA8gog.html It gets worse than that sometimes. But as the water recedes Fish like this one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qHUwgJRsc1g.html get trapped In the pools left over. There can be thousands of them. We have to go there with giant Nets and waders on, to net them all out and back In the pools Before It all dries out. There could be Pike and Carp up to and over 30lb. So Yes go back rescue as many as You can. Keep 'Em Coming.

Hi 👋. Loving your channel. Have been watching some of the past episodes. Will keep watching. A question if I may. Could you or have you already, instead of using a shop bought lure , could an elastic band cut down to about an inch work as well . 🤔. Maybe a challenge 🤔. I am looking forward to seeing your next video.

I watched the fish locker yesterday and john had about 60ft of line snap during a fight with a blue shark 🦈 but luckily the float popped back up so he gunned the boat managed not only to retrieve all his lost line float and terminal rig but the shark was still on and he tagged and released it, and my point is I have respect for anyone who puts in that bit of effort to help fish in any way because I'm a hobby fisherman but I do occasionally take for the table and they need all the help they can get for people to have the luxury of both sport fishing and eating them. So we'll done saving the fish m8
