Trust me leave the lid off and make a lid where he can escape and put sand on the lid so the octopus knows its land so he wont escape. After a week or so put a normal load on and rearrange the rocks every week so he does not get bored

Fun Fact. If you put artificial grass around the top of the tank the octopus will think that it is Dry land and not want to climb out. Doing that means you wouldn't have to put class over it and have to clean and remove the glass

Wow I was so surprised when you caught the baby octopus

I know this video is old, but we used to do this all the time when I was a kid. We would go to the boat launch hand catch (with no net) rock crab and dungeoness. It was a lot of fun. The dungeoness can get big, when I was a kid (in the 90's) you couldn't even keep ones who's shell was smaller than 6 inches. We used to have a pet rock octopus. We fed him the little crabs that we catch at low tide. It was great.

I was really surprised Nick caught an octopus especially since no species of octopus lives in brackish water....

In 2016 on Oahu I had the pleasure of helping a very small octopus that had washed up onto the shore and been caught in some string. I cut the strings and took it back out to the reef. There's nothing like them. They are so cool!

itll be best to feed them through puzzles snd such. One of the smartest animals alive. CAN SQUEEZE THROUGH ANY HOLE THE SIZE OF THEIR BEAK/MOUTH. so make it near airtight security. Also especailly as they get bigger dont let it see other aquariums. Public Aquarium octopus even are known to escape, enter another tank, eat fish, and go back to their own tanks undetected. Only security cameras and such caught em.

Oh god....so you are taking an octopus from the wild, you are putting him in a tank without having any knowledge on how to care for a n octopus. Octopus needs expert people to keep them. You got him in brackish water so why are you putting him in a completely saltwater tank?! Drip acclimation is NOT ENOUGH. Cmon ...he is gonna die una couple days. Hmm John Flora’s octopus ‘died’ suddenly, then you just happen to catch a salt water octopus a day later - and you happen to catch it in either fresh water but at best brackish water - where those octopus don’t live, and decide the best thing to do is take it home and put it in your salt water tank when you have no idea how to look after it? Really? And apparently the octopus got into your trap because it decided it wanted frozen brine shrimp dinner... You need to be banned from keeping animals. I’m going to raise the issue again with local enforcement authorities / animal rights groups and make sure your ‘pool pond’ and the sheer number of fish you claim to have/pass to friends is investigated ASAP.
