this is a very dead song. it was one of the first ones the band made together. if you want to see the performance for this, you can find it here (the audio isn't super great though, rip): • Fisheye - Hippo Campus...
Here’s what I think the lyrics are: Living out our lives through a fisheye lens Chronic apathy At least we pretend in our hearts We are apart No aspirations in a mirrored mind Chronic apathy But we're fine in our hearts We are apart Looking straight through what lies ahead Throw up any charm Beg it to stay in our hearts We are apart Drive that drive to outer space Trust me love We got empty weight in our hearts We are apart I know our time is running out I know our names I know our time is running out I know our names Trust me love It don't matter 'bout the sun or the stars Trust me love It don't matter that the world is falling apart That the world is falling apart That the world is falling apart That the world is falling apart That the world is falling apart
@@camcopeland9471 honestly, I don't even know. It really depends on what you started listening to HC for. Their older work is very traditional in terms of the instruments and layout. So it's a controversial statement but I can see where you're coming from. Especially because there's lots of great songs that didn't get released as the band started to move into the sound they have now.
many thanks to you. after someone showed me yours, it took me longer than I’d like to admit to find the initial source (just wanted to see if they audio was better). I was honestly surprised I hadn’t come across it earlier, considering the deep diving I’ve been doing. thought i put the link in my bio to your vid but looks like i didn't so have done now!
@@altereagle I know i was super shocked that i actually found it, but thanks for putting my link in the description it means a lot! and honestly thanks for making a better quality audio video of it, it sounds way better now hahah
@@kers.photos I have a couple songs they recorded but never shared - Jake joked with me one day, "Leak 'em, Clint, leak 'em!" I honestly don't think they'd care...I mean, what are they gonna do ban me from their concerts?!! :-O
Any chance you can get the full recordings of the youtube space nyc acoustic performance and upload? Would be awesome to hear that performance in good quality.
i think the livestream is the only place where the whole thing was recorded unfortunately. if you mean that, i'd certainly split it into all the songs and upload. otherwise i'm not too sure if i can help sorry :(
It's the audio from part of the band's set on July, 16, 2015 @ the Santa Monica pier. and here's a brief list of all the old unreleased stuff (not including the Tarzan Reject EP): - conviction - nicholas - fisheye - tidewings (I don't have this posted)
the band did a set in santa monica that was recorded by the venue hosts (i think idk). anyway bc it was the golden years of unreleased hc music (2014/2015), they played this song.
@@PM-hi5gx i actually took the audio from this: www.apogeedigital.com/twilight-concert-series the audio on the other youtube video isn't the same quality :)
For being such a talented vocalist he sure did pick up the bad habit of overusing such a distinct false vibrato, like all the time. Before you start swinging on me, I can hear his ability to sing with true vibrato, throughout all their music. But damn once some singers learn how to make false vibrato it can become a real nuisance being used constantly, imo . Even though hes good at it. I read about not making it a habit long ago and when I figured it out how to fake vibrato I thought 'godammit',as it does become kind of a hard habit to break. *Literally my only complaint about the guys singing* . Dudes range is huge and takes some seriously practice, or talent, to utilize. Some people are probably like wtf does any of that shit mean lmao
i'm part of the "some people" group lol. he must be doing something good tho, people seem to like it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (dunno if you know this, but jake was trained as a vocalist in the opera + jazz "section" - idk if there's any correlation there).
@@altereagle around 2:05 he sings 'running out *oh* ' . During the oh, you can hear a pretty clear shakiness to his voice. This shakiness, if you will, is called vibrato. A nature vibrato happens when a singer hits their optimal tessitura, the right amount of airflow regulated in and out. When a singer hits that perfect sweet spot a natural vibrato will occur. It's also possible to mimmick it by vibrating the vocal chords/throat. I was simply pointing out, it can be a bad habit in some cases to mimmick it too much. Which I'venoticed.. not that he doesnt have a beautiful natural and unnatural vibrato, because he does. Just something my ears have caught onto. And yes I'm aware of his vocal training. One of my favorite bands by far
