I'm 64 and have been fishing one time in my life. When I was 9, my grandpa took me and my two older brothers fishing. They all had really nice poles with reels...I was given a cane pole with a piece of string and a hook...no bait. I ended up catching the dumbest fish in the river. He just swam up to my empty hook and bit it! I was so excited, I yanked the pole up and he was mine! It was a catfish that weighed in at 16 pounds. Can you believe it? One of my best childhood memories. Oh, my brothers and grandpa....they got nothing all day, not even a nibble. I think God was lending a helping hand that day. Thank you for sharing your day and bringing back that fun memory for me. God bless you both.

That was so nice,relaxing and peaceful. My sisters and I would play in the creek behind our house for hours.That creek went on for a few miles and ran into the beautiful Ohio river.I can still remember those hot lazy,hazy days living in the Ohio valley.
Beautiful River..Spent many a day fishing with my Dad on the Rivers and ponds in NC he had a pole in my hand and his grand-daughters when we were both little tots..he was an avid fisherman and hunter he taught me and my daughter how to fly fish plus many a youth in our area too he also helped with several Youth Fishing Tournaments in our county he loved children and they loved him .. people were amazed how many fish he could catch fly fishing and he would filet them I and my daughter fried them up they were delicious ..you both bring back sweet memories for me with my Dad he's been gone almost 7 years now and I miss him but I have great memories of him taking me fishing and hunting ..what I would give to have one more fish fry with him I can just see him fishing in heaven ! Marsha Burnside Amen to that! My Auntie taught me to fish on the river. Years later I went with friends deep sea fishing. What an experience. I thought of my Auntie on that trip and was so thankful that because of her kindness I learned how to fish!
Beautiful river! I grew up fishing on Long Island Sound. Very fond memories of those fishing trips. Love our Wisconsin Rivers. And I live in a city of lakes. There is nothing like being on the water. Thank you for bringing us along.

When I was a youngster, it was all about how many fish I could catch, then I went through the catching the' biggest fish possible'phase. Now that I'm an old timer, It's about just being on the water fishing. If I get a fish, that's just a bonus! The missus and I just love you two! We watch every video.
There is nothing like the warmth of the sun and the cool of the water meeting on your skin. Fishing pole and a coffee can full of worms quietly waiting for the big one thrilled with the small. Wish I was there!
Not sure if I should say this but your video left me in tears. I was okay fishing. It was peaceful and beautiful, but when you showed the picture of your old family farm where you raised you family, it made me sad. It is so beautiful and I can imagine rich with memories, I think , how could anyone ever leave something like that? I know, things change, and changes have to be made. But that doesn't mean I have to like it. I love your place now and its the sensible thing to do. But I never get used to me or anyone else leaving home. I was a nurse for a long time in an assisted living upscale community. On the evening med pass, so many of my folks took meds for depression. They'd look at me as I handed them their meds, and with tears say, "When can I go back home?" God bless you two good, good folks.
When I was a kid, my Dad used to take my Mom, brother Monty, and me on fishing trips on the Upper Mississippi River, near where we live. Sometimes we'd go fishing, sometimes we'd camp overnight on a big sand bar, and sometimes he'd just pull us on inner tubes behind the boat. Such great memories! My parents lived on Spring River in Hardy, right off of FM 101, they moved back home from CA in 2000. that’s where they lived until they passed. Dad in 2004, Mom in 2008. I enjoy your videos so much.

Miss Lori and Mr. Brown, you guys bring back good memories. Every summer I grew up fishing and floating down the Current River. If I was lucky, we’d stop for a fried pie in Paragould on the way back home. My grandpa actually died doing what he loved to do - fishing with my dad on a river by Realfoot Lake. We are believers so we are looking forward to our reunion one day. Growing up in Big D, me and my brother always found a pond or creek to thrown a cane pole into - but is was not the same as AR and the Ozarks. Glad you had the time to take us with y’all. I was raised in Washington state. My mom's parents lived about two 1/2 hours away from us in a cabin over the river and through the woods. I loved it there. We spent summer vacations, and most holidays there as well. My grandpa had a cattle ranch and worked a lumber mill job too. He was always working or fishing. It was peaceful and wonderful. You remind me of them in the hard working resourceful way they taught by example. Stay well & may God bless you and yours.
I had such a fun, relaxing fishing trip with y'all! I read where the river is 57 miles long & it's so beautiful & wide. The Eleven Point River is even longer...138 miles. The old Homestead was beautiful & the artist did a wonderful job for y'all with that sketch. It's nice to look back on good memories & be grateful for what you had & have now. The boat ride was fabulous. I enjoyed it so much. Your old farm was beautiful. Isn't it funny how all of us work to have a big house and a farm and then we start downsizing and go back to where we started? I love simple living now that we are retired. I spend most of my days in the kitchen, garden, flowers and quilting. We own a two-bedroom house now and it's just big enough for my husband and I and visitors throughout the year. That's one reason I loved your little she shed when you brought it in. Even though we have downsized I still love it when the family can come and we can sit around and eat and enjoy the sunshine. It's time for all of us to slow down and go back to the old ways of easy living. God Bless you two.

I went fishing with my grandson who is nine and his dad on Thursday. My grandson caught four, bluegill and small mouth bass. They were all pretty small, but it was the excitement of watching him catching the fish. Great day!! Stay safe, God Bless.

Great video folks! I too love to fish. Especially the creeks and rivers down here in southeast GA. The fish are just a bonus. What kinds of fish do y'all mostly catch. Up thar? What are y'alls favorite to catch? What are your favorites to eat? We don't have Drum 'round here most of the others you mention we do see from time to time. My favorites to eat are Jack Fish (aka Chain Pickerel.) Very tasty and very bony though worth it to me and my Dad. Redbreast sunfish are a close second! A bad day fishing beats a good day at work anytime ;)

You live in a beautiful place. The river is gorgeous. I live in Wisconsin, near the Mississippi. It's cold, deep and powerful. No wormy fish, here....except for the worm that I used to catch 'em! Ha ha ha!
What a wonderful river, so many shades of green. I grew up next to a wide lazy river and would spend my free time exploring along it’s banks. There were so many things and animals to see;muskrat,painted turtles,geese,ducks and turkey vultures to name a few. Your boat ride brought me back to the beauty of that much loved river I grew up with. Thank you so much.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY ~ MR . BROWN !!! Thanks for taking us with y'all down the Spring River . We have another piece of property that is mostly wooded & we put in a pond. It is stocked with Bass, Crappie, Cat Fish & Bream . The turtles invited themselves ~ grrrrrr . About 2 weeks ago , I pestered Hubby to take a day off from working on the homestead & finally go fishing - for the 1st time this year. Hubby got tired of standing a few feet from me watching me reeling in very large Crappie ~ & he was not catching anything. So he started weed eating the grass & weeds. Every now & then he would rest from weed eating & try to catch up with me ( actually he was trying to save face - hahaha ! ) By the time he talked me into going home - I had caught 11 really big Crappie & Hubby had caught 3 . Not bad for a 71 year old Great Grandma !!!
