Fly Fishing for Rainbow Trout at Burns Trout Fishery, Scotland:
The fishery is set deep in the heart of Burn's country amidst unspoiled land full of character and charm. The loch is located in a peaceful and tranquil setting on the edge of the village of Tarbolton. Depending on the type of fishing preferred there are four lochs. The lochs are stocked on a weekly basis with rainbows and brown trout with an average size of 1.5 to 2lbs including a reasonable head of larger fish into double figures.
Rainbow trout were introduced to Scotland as a sport fish. All fish are Triploid, hence sterilized and unable to spawn. This measure is universal and was et in place to preserve Wild Brown Trout. Fly fishing for trout in Scotland in rivers can be challenging as the fish are crafty and easily spooked.
This is because they are wild fish, and survival is their prime instinct. With careful approach and the correct techniques and planning, there are some specimens to be caught.
