I love the pursuit. Such a fishy boat. The deckhands and John or Gus all work so hard to put you on fish. Definitely my favorite boat to go out on. And when ryan is in the galley the food is fire.

Oh for sure, those guys were on it! It’s nice being on boats that are there to help guide you and teach you how to be better. Huge thanks to all the Pursuit crew. And yes, food was 🔥🔥🔥

Yes brother baitcaster’s drags has a potential to loosen after a good run from the fish, ask me and now you lol. So I will usually check my drag every time after the fish runs. Most times lol… good job brother…

Yeah I had always heard about star drags getting bumped and it can either go bad …or really bad lol. Love and learn, fish made it home and we love to fish another day. After all… It’s about learning and having fun doing it. Appreciate the support! 🙏🏽🤘🏾💯🔥🎣

That boat is definitely full of people who don’t know how to fish on those party boats. People should be getting of that rail much faster for you. Also 30 lb test is pretty strong. Those tiny yellows pull hard haha. That cast you had to get bit was clutch good job getting it away from the boat.

The boat was definitely jam packed, makes me appreciate the lighter load trips for sure haha. Yellowtail are so fun to fight, but I think my drag was bumped down in the midst of the tangled rods and I was having to find my setting as I was fighting it. Always a tricky thing to do because you want to avoid over doing it and popping off. Man yeah honestly it took me some practice (at the park) to get comfortable casting… it’s paid off on full load trips like this. I feel comfortable and that extra 10-20 foot cast makes a world of difference doesn’t it! Thanks for dropping some love and for watching the video Eric. Very much appreciated!!🤘🏾🙏🏽🎣🔥😎

When you go out on a party boat you just have to expect a lot of inexperienced fishermen. That’s the name of the game my brother… and no one should get mad. It’s basically the training grounds for all new fishermen. When you get better, you’re going to probably progress into charter and then limited charter boats. I’ve been fishing on boats since the 1960’s, so that’ll tell you how long I’ve been around, lol! P.S. When I was a kid, we used to fish on the barges in Long Beach Harbor! Look that up!!!

@@danielsuzuki2678 yeah that’s my approach to fishing, roll with the punches and learn from the experiences. Ultimately I feel like I’m reaching a point where I’m comfortable and find a “pocket” on the boat and am able to cast and hook up. I need to work on the end game and how to capitalize, control the fish better. I never knock these trips, they’re absolutely the training grounds haha. I love being out there with experienced and beginner fishermen. I still have a long ways from being e pert so I just take it a trip at a time. I’ll have to check out the spot and I appreciate you leaving your thoughts and tips brotha! Tight lines! 🤘🏾💯🎣🔥

Jesus I always wanted to go out on one of those party boats, but after that - never!

Hahah, don’t let it scare you, this sort of experience teaches you how to fish smart and avoid mistakes in the future. I’ve done the majority of my learning on party boats and I still pick up a lot of lessons each time I go. Staying in front of your line at all times goes a long way on these sort of trips and helps avoid tangles + land more fish. Best of luck!

That deckhand who gaffed your halibut made dumb rookie move. Never want to gaff a halibut that is on the borderline of being legal. if it was short then it would have died. Dont do that! Either lift them over or net them, then check the size, if its short you can release it so it can live to grow bigger.
@FishingwithNesto
@FishingwithNesto 28 дней назад
Those are great points, definitely want to make sure we get them back safely if they’re too short. Thankfully this one was a keeper. This was my first ever halibut, and I don’t yet have the eye to tell if it’s short or not but as I develop I’ll make sure to bounce when appropriate. A sustainable approach is absolutes needed man. We have to do our best to be responsible fishermen across the board! Appreciate you sharing your thoughts brotha! 💯🙏🏽🤘🏾🔥🎣

This is how you do it right on YT! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_P0ILfLdYdY.htmlsi=YXyoAZJJ7HhV_gI4 Don’t mess with the drag much. Set it to 1/3-1/4 of breaking strength of the line with a nice fighting bend in the rod. If u going to in a fight, wait until the fish stops running and bump slightly up or done. Keep hand off line when fighting fish.
@FishingwithNesto

Great pointers brotha! And yeah I’m slowly piecing together all of the knowledge. Setting the drag is always one of those mysterious things lol. In this case though, I think it was bumped in the process of the handing rods off and untwisting tangles. Lesson learned. Hand off the spool when hooked up is a habit I need to break for sure! Appreciate the advice! Tight lines sir! 🎣
@kaifishkiller

@@FishingwithNesto hopefully mystery solved now. Get yourself a spring drag scale for what you need. Don’t get one too large, or maxed out but one in between the range. Also I marked my drag and handle with a Sharpie, I know where it’s at.
