Spinners catch literally everything big and small. This year I’ve caught crappie, bullhead, rock bass, bluegill, smallmouth, largemouth, brown trout, and 30+ in pike on the same Mepps spinner.
90% percent of the time, this shit doesn't matter. What do you think fish think a senko is? How about a spook? Personally, I've never seen a bass eat a frog. Most of these lures just trigger a fishes predatory instincts. I guess jigs are an exception. To a point.
Agreed, been catshing fish with lately just a float (dont really know what it's called in English) with a hook. It's not even ment to be used as bait but it catches fish anyways, the fish are simply stupid.
Bass definitely eat frogs, mice that fall into the water, huge bugs, etc. Bro there’s scientific literature on this stuff. But yes there are definitely presentations specifically meant to trigger aggressive predatory instincts like spoons, spinners or buck tails, many of the color patterns like fire tiger, lots of fly fishing streamer patterns. It’s all about reading the water, fly fishermen know all to well that matching what they are mostly feeding on can significantly help with catching more fish or bigger older fish that are a bit wiser in what they bite on.
I am a multi species angler and with any fish reading the water is the first and most important step in my opinion. Lures come second after you observe.
I agree, but there are certain little baits that I can get to work almost anywhere. I also like to choose what lure I can make a fish bite on, for example I might throw a frog relentlessly until I can get a fish on it, where I know I can get them on a minnow and jig easily. Just kind of fun.
I’m a fly fisher and matching the hatch is no problem just tie a fly that has every small detail of for example a mosquito cuz there are lots and lots of mosquitoes in Norway so I just use a mosquito fly everywhere😂
I don't know how a Senko resembles a bluegill and a spinnerbait doesn't look like any living critter. Maybe they think the Senko is a snake or worm. I think they hit spinnerbaits and chatterbaits because they're annoying and bass are aggressive.
