A few years ago I catched a baby pike about as thick as my index finger.. I've never seen a pike that small take a bite into a lure.. And it was a hot, sunny day in july as well so not a particularly good weather to expect a catch. No wonder that was all for that day.
In norther Finland there is no kuha but there is in Finland Hauki,Ahven,Kuha,Siika,Harjus,Rautu,Taimen,Lohi,Kirjolohi,Särki,Muikku and many other species of fishes.🙂
you should tire the fish more, it will jump less and make it easier to get it on board, also pikes can get off the hook easily if u lift them without the net (haavi)
You can trolling, put rod rodholder and drive 3-4 km/h. Easiest lure to control is wobbler, shallow model. One great model is Bomber a15 . Tight lines. Casting
Late comment but perch bait will get you pretty much only pike so that works for it but if you fish with worm and rod you can get anything , drag doesnt really matter but i recommend max and if you want the big pike try and find reed or whatever tall grass there is in the water this might be overall in other places too but here in finland its always cold or very warm so its comfortable for them also make sure theres perch/roaches there if you find this its a goldmine just make sure its over 30cm (11.8 inches) and because anything under that is under sized. Anyway if you want big perch you should go to small quiet lakes or rivers where they like to be but theres not that special fish here main ones are Perch, Pike, Zander, Roaches and trout but if you want salmon i recommend going to lapland and find a lake/ocean close to the norweigan border in the north and you can get salmon now they can be gotten pretty much all over finland but they are bigger and better up there also prepare for Alot. you need to show him some blunt object fast to let him out is his misery. good catch btw. "hauki" isn't that tasty as "kuha" or "ahven" but still pretty good if prepared properly.
