Winter beach fishing is one of the best times to catch Monster Cod. Using big baits such as lugworm and squid and casting out far with a pulley rig, can be a deadly for catching cod. Graeme visits the famous Chesil Beach on the south coast of England. One of the top beach fishing spots in the UK. It can be hard to locate fish on such a huge long beach, but Graeme uses the expertise of beach fisherman Steve Perry, who shares his knowledge with The Awesome Army to give you guys some great tips on winter beach fishing. Like most people in the states, I think of cod as a boat caught fish, drifting over VERY deep water, a dropper rig of some type. thanks for this, really fun and informative. Tight lines.

Thanks for your usual brilliant video I really liked this one nice to see good fishermen cashing good fish nice cod, now have tried the up and over pulley rig instead of my normal pulley penal rig with some very good results. Thanks Graeme and keep going.

Mouth is watering just looking at that cod. I've eaten fish from all over the world. Nothing beats Canadian/Alaskan Salmon and North Sea Cod - best eating fish in the world.

I remember in the 80s ...an 100 class penn international on a Fenwick bent butt rod was like 1200 .. omg ... I use now a rod I call "frankenrod" made of of 3 different outfits found in the rubbish bin at the dock 😊

I know this is old but i would have said Steve may have found an area of black Lug. Black Lug as you probably know they are usually deeper than Blow Lug. I think i'm slowly getting through all your Films Graeme. Keep the great work that you do, i look forward to Friday's.

+fishing mad Hi fishing mad, in all fairness I didn't make myself very clear on camera (first time and nervous etc lol) i meant it in the way that i had seen the size of fish that steve had caught and how well the rods handled them and from the vast variety of venues we fish :). fully aware the majority of it is steves skill as an angler and not the rod :). thanks for watching and the comment, will hopefully help me in future videos :)

I really like circle hooks, for the simple reason that if a fish is short, or you have two many and wish to release, they always are in the corner of the mouth. Another thing, with circle hooks, if you use a sand spike for the rod, they hook themselves, so you don't need to "be ready" every moment you are there. Cast out, put in spike, then you can play with your dog, your kids and when the rod goes off, it is hooked well for keeping, and easy release if you want/need to let one go.

Hi Alec, rotten bottom is fine for rough ground. My personal opinion is that the long flowing trace would possibly get ripped apart on the rocks if any, your better off keeping it short and sweet!!!

NICE to see you on Chesil beach Graeme, it's got be the top beach venue in Britain. There is always a chance of catching any fish you can find in British waters but boy aint it BLOODY hard work to get on and off of. I live in weymouth and fish it only in the summer, I normally fish Preston beach in winter. Thanks for another great video sir

thankyou for taking all the time and effort to make these vids,i not been sea fishing since i was a kid,but after watching all your films i really keen to buy a couple of beach set ups and get out there,i live in leeds,do you know what we get on the yorkshire coast?any hounds or rays?or will i need to take a long drive,i recently worked in christchurch and eastbourne and its like a 5 hour drive from me so dont wanna trail down south coast too often as i dont have the time.

Half an hour isn't considered a long walk on Chesil, One of my favourite marks there takes an hour to reach, Longer some times.

hey Gaeme, i want to go sea fishing near wales soon and do some catch & cook, i was wondering how the whole fish and parasites thing works? like how do you know where fish contain parasites? and if they do, what do you do about it? put the fish on ice so it kills the parasites? or is it not something to worry of throughout the uk? thanks. :)

I have no idea.I just eat fish and have never seen many parasites.Cooking properly must be the key.Check on the internet.There might be a site that can give you the information.

No need for 500 quid plus rods. I paid 100 quid for a ron thompson axe and its just as powerful as the century's. Usually ur spot on with ur advice graham but u do not need to be spending silly money on tackle to launch big baits a long way.

great vid as usual, i really think u should get up on the north east coast for the winter cod and whiting. tactics and baits are different and it would be good to show different methods and baits for other viewers. keep up the good work.
