i am going to the lake you caught the trophy brookie at this weekend. we went there just over a month ago and fished from shore but we didnt have much success. i am thinking of hiking float tubes into there. i was wondering what techniques work best there.
I recently had some great success up there fishing with a fly rod an Rio Midge-Tip line (da bomb!). They were hitting leeches (olive, blood), hares ears, pheasant tails, chironomids, and wooly buggers. If you don't have fly tackle, small jigs (green or tan). We were not fishing that specific lake, but the entomology should be similar. It was difficult trying to find what they wouldn't bite on. Another thing that likely helped in our success was the various temperature changes that occurred throughout the day we were there. From sunshine to snow and back. Our arms were sore at the end of the day from fighting trophy trout. Amazing place.
Great to see you're not naming names. It's way too easy to exploit formerly-secret spots already in these days of GPS, ATVs, and LAZY. Folks need to slow down and explore or they will miss the point.
FishTech lost my business years ago. Very snobbish owners that act like it's a chore to help customers. I dealt personally with the guy in this video Mickey, and he was unpleasant.
If other fishermen get mad at locations shared that’s BS and who really cares. Share the name and location… not everyone has access to a sidexside and has the money to go there. So quit with the BS!!!
