i think its nice to see a father and son fishing, anyone agree, i spent years teaching three boys to fish from a very young age, drove me mental at first, anyone been there, nice to spend a day with them now they grown up,
I love your shows. Fantastic viewing all round. Always down to earth and full of good tips. You and your lad make a great duo. Keep up the great work 👍🏻
I caught a 36lb catfish from finch here a few months before this using a quiver tip rod and a huge piece of luncheon meat! well done nice cat mate. also great vids.
U got me hooked on perch drop shot Mike love it. But u got polorized glasses a fish finder with sonar thingy boss tackle an the 1 an only Graham tottaly awsom pullen I thinks u might get like a gold mermaid or suttin haha thanks
Have you ever thought about fishing places in England where the catfish are almost continental sized (80 lb. plus), such as Furnace Lakes Fishery or the Oakwood Park Predator Lakes?
Wow! I didn't know its possible to reel in a 36pound fish on a 15pound main line! I thought the line would have broken the instant the fish started to pull.
Generally monofilament line (nylon)has a 10% stretch factor. If you look through the IGFA World record listings you will be amazed at how big the fish are caught on light line.
crikey thats a tiny hook. here in germany most use at least 3/0 trebles or 4/0 single hooks for fish smaller than that! stunning fish tho dude, well done!
Yes,if you mean a popping float like I use in the Florida Keys for Speckled trout with shrimp bait. No joy yet,but I know it works. Or if you mean a surface popping lure, then no, I have not tried that.
@@TAFishing We have been using this technique with great success for catfish in South Africa. We hang a lure with a specific buoyancy about 30 centimeters to 1 meter below a proper. The proper attracts the attention of the catfish and it grabs the lure below the popper. This technique simulates a bird or other animal on the surface of the water and the catfish cannot resist this. I do have more information about the technique if you are interested.
seconded. they snap leeches and bunches or giant nightcrawlers suspended at or just below the surface with unbelievable force. savage takes. their bottom lips actually protrude slightly, meaning popped up baits are taken easier. on rivers we use u-posen (in line underwater floats) on the hooklength just above the hooks to suspend the bait for a natural presentation, or float fish using 200g+ "buoys" as bolt rig floats
Catfish are NOT bottom feeders! Look at the mouth structure and compare it to a carp, which is a bottom feeder. Catfish are predators like bass and pike. They hunt all through the water column.
But our baits are hard on the lake bed bottom ?? Hundreds of fishermen catch Catfish with baits on the bottom, both river and lake . Over here in the UK anyway . I guess nobody told the Cats they are doing it all wrong.
How? So all those fishing boats around the world that use echo sounders and boat sonars are cheating too? Each to their own and I get that it is your opinion. But in my opinion it is not cheating. Deeper does not catch you the fish, it helps to locate fish holding areas. No different to plumbing the lake with a float, except this time it gives you more detail on water temperature and contours. Mike
Hmm... So all the guys who use fish finders on boats aren't really fishing? The deeper doesn't come with a hook and some bait. This definitely is fishing
+TAFishing Nope using fish finders is cheating .. you may as well fish in a barrel.. I know you must be getting payed to plug this item but in my opinion it takes away the bush craft.
+mrmanuk2000 I'm sure millions of anglers around the world would disagree with you. especially the boat fishermen. We don't think it's cheating. But thanks for your opinion and each to their own
Some people would say using a modern hook and monofilament/braid line isn't really fishing. It gives such an unfair advantage.... The sport changes and advances with technology. Using a fish finder doesn't guarantee fish will be caught. And you still have to know where to find the fish on the water so your finder can find them. A fish finder is simply a tool that lets you know if your intuition about a spot was right or not. I've seen guys use fish finder and not find any fish because they wasn't looking in the right spot. The only thing the finder told them was they was idiots.
