Some absolute beauties there, i never realy understood the power of barbel to just recently when i caught a small one pounder on the fly while fly fishing for trout, grayling, and chub, amazingly it gave a very different fight to the other 3 species and i had no idea what it was till i netted it.
I often find the small barbel will give a more energetic fight. The big ones do run a bit but mostly just feels heavy and powerful. Hoping to get a fly fishing vid out soon...
some absolutely great angling and superb barbel,it would be good to see set up bait and feeding etc.but once again superb thanks very much for taking the time and trouble to do the uploads looking forward to the next one.
Quite standard rig wise, just a running rig with a hair rigged quick stop. Nothing fancy but you don't need to over complicate things for barbel, strength is more important along with making sure you don't tether fish if you break off.
Really well done. Two doubles from the Ouse is not the easiest thing to manage. The bream are quite something down there, they don't half kick up a fuss.
Nice catch! I managed a barbel from the YDAA side right there on my 2nd ever attempt. Blanked yesterday without a hint. It was on the cards though as new rod curse ;-) D'you prefer Leeds book or just fancy a change?
My wife and I enjoy your videos. Just 2 Things though. Wish they were longer and PLEASE stop showing us 'what's coming up' we don't want to see what you've caught right at the beginning. Otherwise they sre great viewing. More please.
